Honestly she is kind of snarky and if you get on her bad side she makes it clear that she DOES NOT want you to succeed in any way, shape, or form. If you're quiet, keep to yourself, and pay attention you won't do too bad. She is super confusing and if a student on her "bad side" asks a question she basically refuses to elaborate. She'll spew out some garbage like "well you should've been taking notes" or "its not my fault you weren't paying attention" regardless if that's true or not.
She is a nice person but terrible teacher. If you get her as a teacher, switch out immediately.
"Just saying" -Nancy(everyday)
If I had to describe Mrs.Mahoney in one word...useless. It would be better if i had a brick teaching me. Her way of teaching is doing a problem on the board and saying "see how I did that?" Then she expects us to be able to do the problems. For example, she taught us Trig Functions and Identities yesterday and I already have a test today on that. She doesn't offer extra help. She says she does afterschool but when you ask her to come in her answer is always the same. Sorry I cant today. Awful.
Terrible teacher. If you get her SWITCH OUT
I was apprehensive to have Mrs.Mahoney with all the horror stories I heard, but I was determined to make my own unbias judgment of her. She was fair in her grading and nice to the class. She always asked us if we understood before moving on to a new concept and joked every once in a while to lighten the mood. I think she made a HUGE effort to restrain herself and cater to the problems address here this year (2015) and for that she deserves credit.
don't get me wrong, mrs mahoney is a nice person and means well. however, when it comes to teaching she is very brief and doesn't do a good job explaining. most of the time, she expects u to know everything prior to her classwhen you ask a question, she is usually confused on how to answer and often gets irritated when students ask questions but hey isn't that what teachers are for? her tests sometimes include things that were mentioned in class once or briefly talked about on the homework.
She gets so annoyed if someone asks a question and is confusing a lot of the time so you have to figure some things out on your own.
Mrs Mahoney is a nice lady but not a good teacher. She writes notes on the board and then gives us practice problems but doesn't do a great job of explaining. She also makes you feel dumb for not understanding something on the homework or asking questions. One thing I like is that she doesn't count your first zero for homework each marking period.
Personally I liked Mrs. Mahoney. She was very friendly and nice to me and I always felt bad for her when some students disrespected her. If she was sarcastic or mean it was bc of the student's behavior. Not the best teacher, but nearly not the worst.
Not a great teacher by any means but a sweet lady outside of class and I just felt that needed to be said. She's not a good teacher but she's a good person.
Mrs mahoney ruined my freshman year . She is not a good teacher she doesn't teach. She often makes jokes and expects people to laugh but no one does. I have been a good student in math until she came into my life. If you get her switch out .
A few words to describe the worst math teacher that I've ever had: sarcastic, snarky, mean, arrogant. She often makes ridiculous jokes then expects us to laugh, commonly gets example problems wrong, and is just plain mean at times.
She can possibly be one of THE worst teachers i have ever had. She takes too long on easy sections, but speeds up on hard sections. i passed with an A average, but my fellow peers, not so much. She barely teaches, and when you ask for extra help for homework she kinda gives you attitude and tells you fine. one time, my friend wanted extra help for the final and she said no. Don't get me started about her yelling. if you are good at math and dont study, like me, expect 70-87%
tests are mostly trick questions, some questions do not even relate to the notes. she just makes you copy notes from the white board. she says jokes that no one besides her thinks is funny. she counts down the days of school until summer. try to get another teacher.
she always provides extra help after school and gives extra credit on tests! shes really awesome and committed to her students. she brightens up the classroom, even during first period when everyones still sleepy!! if you don
her classes tend to be boring, but she's nice, will answer your questions, and doesn't give too much homework. she usually has us take notes and then we do worksheets so i usually have to teach myself the material on my own.
She is okay.. she doesn't really teach she just makes you do worksheets and take notes. She thinks she is HILARIOUS while no one in the class is really laughing. She isn't hard at all though.
she's really cool and all but sometimes she can be really rude. it's fun when she's sarcastic but sometimes she gives students obnoxious looks and sighs when they ask a question
Her test are graded heavily but shes okay. Not the best teacher you can get honestly. CHENG IS THE MAN!
Mrs. Mahoney is SO FUNNY! She's so good at connecting with the students with her sarcasm and wit and explains things in an easy to comprehend matter. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!
