Would I recommend another teacher? absolutely. She emphasizes a lot of irrelevant points, gives a bunch of work only to grade it a semester late, writes incoherent notes on essays, and treats you like a middle school student. The worst teacher I have ever had. I am failing that AP exam for sure
Very rude and not understanding. assigns way too much busy work and unteaches what good ap lang teachers taught in 11th grade and it was those techniques I used to get a 5 on the exam so Magee unteaching these obviously good techniques makes no sense
My relationship with Ms. Magee was a roller coaster for various reasons. Primarily because she tends to have an arrogantly rude and sarcastic attitude. She's one of the most strict teacher's I've had in my 4 years as a student in TCHS. She's great in preparing kids for college. She's actually a professor at Valencia College. She tolerates almost no excuse. Her work is all in a syllabus. She can be harsh, but I could tell she really just wants the best, academically, for her students.
Although Ms. Magee has a really bad reputation in school for being a hard teacher, she has a reason behind it. I'm currently in her Honor's class and we get about the same amount of work as her AP classes. All she's really trying to do is get you ready for college, yes she can be strick, yes keeping up with her work will be hard, but in the end its all worth it. I've finally gotten used to how she teaches and the workload, she is extremely clear in everything she does. I've learned to like her.
She is a great, fun teacher. The reading is a bit intense at times, but it is great preparation for college. Her tests are easy if you have read the books.
Lots of work, her AP classes get bombarded, often reading 3 books at the same time OUTSIDE of normal class. Honors reads too, but not as much
Get's a bad rap, but generally a good teacher. You can tell that she genuinely cares about her students. You get good grades if you do the work.
