ITS JUST A MACHINE U BLOKES.
Sometimes we're all just a little too harsh on this guy. He may be overly harsh and arrogant at times, but really, he gives his students a chance and he tries to be thoughtful. (Come to Academic Team for assorted chocolates and occasionally cookies from him.) He's not exactly the best at explaining concepts (in a way that idiots like me can understand) but if you just follow the textbook verbatim and listen carefully when he tells you EXACTLY WHAT'S ON THE ASSESSMENTS, you'll be fine.
He tends to teach the class like a college class, where you have to teach yourself most of the material, but he does go over everything in the class itself. I tend to learn better by studying the material at home, but that's just personally. I find that if you study the textbook well and do practice problems from the section, you'll do fine in his class. He's a nice guy, but sometimes might seem a bit distant although he's helpful if you approach him.
He's wicked smart, and knows pretty much everything in the world. However, way too overqualified as an Algebra II teacher (he's a retired nuclear engineer), and this is a struggle when he's trying to teach us, since he expects so much more than he'll often get. His tests are incredibly difficult, but the class itself is a breeze, and you'll realize how much you've learned when you go to precalc, and everything is a simple review for the first half of the year. Not sure about Multivar though.
awesome great guy but tests are ridiculously hard and teaching lessons are approx. 5 minutes long whereas going over hw is about 65 minutes long
I was disappointed in his class. He does not know true math.
He's so nice, but a math class in which you have to teach yourself everything completely defeats the point of school. He's so easy to stall, and he can't bring his level down to ours.
Based on experience of my children--doesn't explain things very well to the students. Expects the kids to get it with the first explanation since he just keeps repeating that one.
Dr. Eng is a nice guy. While I knew most of the course material anyway, he was helpful when I had problems and was agreeable with scheduling. Ask him about nuclear reactors.
Dr. Eng was one of the worst teachers I've ever had. He resented his students, called us stupid and basically left us to fend for ourselves in preparing for the AP. He's very knowledgable in math, but he can't bring it down to our level. A pox on Dr. Eng!
Honestly a great teacher at HTHS, he's more suited for individuals who have a good grasp of math, but for those not into math, he may be a tough pill to swallow.
Sort of hard to rate him, considering I had to teach myself Calc 1. Answering a question, "That's calculus" is a sign of a bad teacher-the worst I ever had.
DR. EEEEENNNNGGGG!!!! He knows his stuff. Don't mess with the doctor!
do the hw and the quizzes / tests are easy. class is always tons of fun.
favorite class, but need to put in actual effort to do well.
Taught me precalc, along with all the Aldgebra II that I wasn't taught as a frosh. WE LOVE YOU DR ENG!
