The textbook is the teacher, not Mr. Uhler.
He loves what he does
Uhler was such an amazing teacher. He loves his subject and really cares about his students. Yes the class is hard but it's an AP class so that's what you should expect. He expects hard work and good performances out of his students. The class usually consisted of lectures, class discussions, reading, writing, and on very rare occasions short videos or movies. We also had a few class parties towards the end of the year which were fun. Would 10/10 recommend if you love history or want a challenge
Despite it being a gruelingly difficult class with truckloads of homework, I managed to genuinely enjoy AP US history, possibly for the mere reason that Mr. Uhler was so engaging and fun. My only real advice= read the textbook to learn the facts-- he won't teach them to you. Treat the homework as the boring retention part, and class as a place to discuss and debate the facts you learned the night before. Study for the tests. It's a fun class.
Mr. Uhler is a great teacher for AP US History! He's been teaching the subject for 13 years so he knows his stuff and can answer any questions about the exam or subject material. People complain about the workload, but it really is manageable if you know what you're doing. My advice is to read the textbook every night (like 10 pages or so) and keep up with the syllabus! As long as you keep up with the work at home and pay attention in class, you'll be more than fine :) Good luck and have fun!
Read the textbook or you will fail the AP exam. He does a bad job at teaching the material.
One of the best teachers I've had to date
An amazing teacher. His class is extremely difficult, test wise, but it's a great class. His jokes and stories keep you focused on the class and what's going on. Gives a lot of homework, but still an overall great class. He gives great notes for tests, but make sure you read the book!
As a teacher, he does an exemplary job at keeping you focused. He is typically the first AP teacher an honor student enrolls in, and his class is a great introduction to lecture-style classes. However, his class is noticeably more difficult than any other class most students have faced till now. With that said, this does not mean he does not teach well. He tells you right away the expectations he expects and has you work to excel in the class. It makes whatever grade you get feel justified.
Mr. Uhler is a fantastic History teacher. He speaks in an extremely powerful voice. The class is extremely difficult, but it is AP. His stories are so funny though. If you get him, ask him about Winfield Scott.
So, his rating might get a little hurt by the difficulty of the class, b/c it is hard. I was in his AP US History class, and it was a lot of hard work. He expects good grades from his students, and with that said it was the only AP exam I got a 4 on in my entire High School career. He's a great teacher and will mix in hilarious stories throughout the year so that we don't get too worn down by the workload.
His APUSH class was by far one of my favorite classes! He clearly loves what he does and is incredibly fair and reasonable when it comes to homework, tests, and other assignments. He's hilarious and really makes the class enjoyable. A lot of people complained about the difficulty of tests, but as long as you read your textbook and take notes, you're set.
Being the first AP class I've ever takin, it's obviously a lot of work. Mr. Uhler is a great guy though. He will tell a story, let us laugh about it, and get right back on track. It's amazing how much I have learned, especially since I'm not even all that into history. It is a great way to introduce yourself to a lecture-based class, too. He also lets us drop a bad grade each semester and generally does not give essay grades worse than an 80 if you try. Overall a good, work-loaded class.
He actually enjoys what he teaches, and knows what he is talking about.
Mr.Uhler is an awesome teacher, tells the best stories; I don't understand how so many funny things happen to one person. He really knows what he is talking about, but the class is a lot of hard work.
The monotone gets boring and the jokes get old. Honestly you dont even need him to have the class. He basically reiterates everything from the book.
Uhler was one of my best teachers... he was interesting and funny in his teaching methods. Nice work, Uhler!
OK. I am on the yearbook staf under his advisorship. Lack of focus worries me and not too many others. This is NOT chill time, Mr. Uhler! WORK!
I am not sure he knows the subject matter all THAT much. His class is standard: nothing exciting, nothing new. Just ok.
Uhler was one of the best teachers i've ever had, he knows what he's teaching and has a genuine love for what he is doing.
He does have his favorites, but he knows MOST of what he teaches. Not bad in comparison to the rest.
Uhler was always there to lend a helping hand. He's one of the few teachers that genuinely cares about his profession. That is hard to find.
Ferris B. Uhler. That's all I have to say. Anyone who was in my class would know what I'm talking about.
Made me interested in history again... and whoever can do that deserves a good rating.
