Had him for honors chem, got an A one semester and B+ the other. I have only gotten two B's in all my high school years and this was one of them. He is a great teacher, chemistry is just a bit hard. The class was a lot of work and kinda hard IMO. Take notes, understand everything he teaches, study, and you should be fine. He is really OCD and reminds me of Heisenberg lol, and it's funny when his demonstrations don't work the way he intended. The labs are fun. I recommend him, but it ain't easy/
I took his AP Chem class this year, and he's a great teacher! Really knowledgeable, makes things clear, and his test are fair. As long as you grasp the acid/base part well, you'll do fine in second semester. Lab works really helped, and eventhough he sort of rushed through a lot of practice problems and homeworks, its cuz we had so many things to go through to prepare for the AP exam.
In my experience in both AP and Honors chemistry, Mr. Weld provided all of the tools I needed to succeed in both his class and the AP test. Although his class has a high reliance on busy work, it is effective in solidifying concepts that show up on his tests. None of his tests were surprises and the class was very fairly operated.
I expected to have a very tough time in Honors Chemistry. While in the first semester it wasn't very easy, at the end I was doing pretty well. Mr. Weld is a great teacher. He explains things very well and gives useful study guides and practice problems. Make sure to pay attention and do your homework.
He is an amazing teacher. I took honors chem, expecting it would be a total bore. He changed my mind, so I will be taking AP next year! He is very thorough, explains it very easily, and assigns helpful (doesn't collect most of it) homework. Do the homework on time and pay attention! His tests are very fair and we've gone over all of those problems in his lessons or Chapter Reviews. He is helpful! His grading policy is very fair. He really understands chemistry! May be strict, but a fun class!
Mr. Weld is great! Haha, he even has his brilliant funny moments when teaching chemistry. chemistry. C-h-e-m-i-s-t-r-y. He makes chemistry extremely fun and easy!
He needs to stop using transparancies even though he started teaching 30 years ago we're not living in the stone age anymore.
Possibly one of the best teachers I've ever had. Knows everything there is to know about chemistry and explains everything to the smallest detail. May be a lot stricter than other teachers, but definitely knows what he's doing. Just listen to him.
Mr. Weld is the opposite of Mrs. Compeau. He knows everything there is to know about Chemistry and can teach quite effectively. He, however, has no heart. He is strict and isn't all that understanding of teenage angst. He doesn't make any effort to get to know his students, and although he may be concerned for our preparedness for the AP exam, he has no care whatsoever about your preparedness for life. Do all the homework. Never skip a problem. Keep the faith.
Mr. Weld is an all around fantastic teacher, and students are very lucky to have him there. His class, AP Chemistry, may not be the easiest, but he makes SURE all students know the subjects and are prepared for the AP exam. Boosts your confidence, and is very serious about teaching.
He's a fantastic teacher. It shows because the yearbook was dedicated to him this year! I had him for honors and AP chem. He knows the material very well, and knows how to explain it well. His teaching methods work. I never felt afraid to ask him questions. I had to work very hard in both of these classes, but it paid off in the end, because the AP test was a breeze. If you take this class, be prepared to work hard! I'm in college taking chem now, and others are struggling but I'm not!
I enjoy this class, but it can be hard if you don't study well. He gets really excited sometime which is pretty fun. He is ten times better than Ms. Washburn so if you take honors chemistry he is your man.
Mr. Weld is a very good teacher. While concepts might get difficult in his AP Chem or Honors Chem classes, he always does a good job explaining them and making sure that the students are prepared for the tests. He was by far the best science teacher I have had in my time at La Canada High School(with Dr E a close second).
hr chem is very difficult towards the 2nd semester. only take it if you really like science/ are really good at it, and if you are dedicated to putting in the time and effort to study. nice guy though
he knows his stuff, but his class is extremely hard. dont take honors chem unless you are really good at science, trust me. go to regular chem it is an EASY A
Mr. Weld is a highly respected, intelligent, and organized teacher. He is extremely helpful and he explains everyone’s questions thoroughly because he knows EVERYTHING. His class is challenging and you must work hard. Regardless, I believe he wants all his students to succeed in his class. He helped me out so much and raised my grade from a C to a B. Of course, i had to work extremely hard and score high on my final to get that grade. He is at the top of my list of best teachers. I love wel
I had Mr Weld many years ago for 2 or more years for honors bio-chem and AP chem. His classes were definitely difficult, but he was an amazing teacher!! I struggled in his AP class but he was always very encouraging and genuinely wanted to see me do well.
Mr. Weld teaches Hon Chem. Tests are difficult - nothing like the book or lectures. He makes you apply what you learn. Good man, good teacher but hard class.
Mr. Weld is a solid teacher for AP Chemistry but he give an enormous amount of busywork homework problems. The textbook is very good at explaining the material, you don't have to go to class to understand the subject if you read the textbook. Do not take this class if you have any significant after school time commitments. I spend approximately 25 hours a week doing AP Chemistry homework reading, assigned problems, and lab writeups. Most of my weekend time is spent doing homework for this cl
Mr. Weld's a great teacher. I remember everything from chem. He explains everything really really well. Probably the best science teacher at LC, although the coolness award goes to Compeau.
mr. weld is flat out amazing. no other way to describe him. best science teacher i have ever had.
i had weld for about four days before i got switched to witman. he didnt help a lot, but he was very clear all the time.
He's nice enough, but he makes me feel stupid especially during labs. The SQ3R's were utterly pointless and he almost never checked homework during 2 semester and when he did check it, no one had thought it was due that day. He's fair, but he wouldn't round up my 89.9 to a 90.0
He's a cool guy. His class is kinda boring, but that's not his fault. One can only do so much as to make chemistry exciting.
I find chem rather dull compared to bio, but Mr. Weld made it interesting, he grades fair, and he explains everything. The SQ3R's are very pointless, though; it's just busy work.
His class requires thinking, but that's only cuz we're honors and AP students. He's a really good teacher (love his periodic table shirt!)
Teaches firmly and intelligently. It's hard to ask for a better Chem teacher. Not an easy class, but an interesting and well taught one.
This guy *really* knows what he's doing. Makes the best of difficult material.
He's one of the best teachers I had. I learned to love chem so much that I'm majoring in it. He's nice, but really tough. You have to work hard.
Teaches concisely and clearly. has genuine concern for students' well being in and out of class. great teacher. hard ap class. just try and you'll do well.
Mr., Weld teaches very hard classes and does it well. He rewards hard work fairly and consistantly. He made hnrs chem understandable.
Mr. Weld is an awesome teacher. He makes everything so easy to understand.
Love him!!!!! He makes me feel smart. Explains things pretty well.
AP chem was a hard hard class but mr weld was a really great teacher! he was one of my favorites!
WELD is awesome...AP CHEM is a hard class, but you dont care...its weld! AP Chem 4 life
His class is really hard but you learn so much from it and he's a great teacher.
He really cares about his students, and he explains stuff really well.
Mr. Weld is awesome. If you're smart, that's just you. Others need more help, you aren't the only kid in the class.
Weld teaches hard material exceptionally well, but teaches easier stuff very poorly. Too much emphasis on pleasing weaker students.
um no. i think weld is awful. horrible lectures, and he doesnt care about us at all.
He's a really great teacher. He really cares about his students and his explanations are really clear, and I don't even like chemistry all that much.
mr. weld's class may not be that easy.. but my class was really fun... haha.. with his glow-in-the dark periodic table t-shirt... what can i say? haha
just an awsome chem teacher, extremely helpful and explains the material very well
He may be a good teacher-I wouldn't know. I always zone out five minutes into class. Great guy though.
His class is difficult, but he really is one of the best teachers I've ever had
He's a really good teacher. The material is hard, but he can explain it really well.
He's one of the best teachers I had in high school, and one of the hardest too, but I learned a lot in his class.
Mr. Weld is just awesome, even if the subject matter is hard.
Very clear explanations, knows a lot about chemistry
