Mr. Hines was my teacher for World History (H) and AP European History in 1983 - 1985 when he taught at Magruder High School. I saw the ratings and see that he is still an extraordinary teacher 30 years later. I'm glad he is still teaching.
best. teacher. ever. enough said. made me love history and makes each class extremely interesting and fun. do whatever you can do get him.
do anything you can to take his class. he's the best teacher at rm period.
Probably the greatest history teacher out there. Period.
Mr. Hines is "a man of an angel's wit and singular learning. I know not his fellow. For where is the man of that gentleness, lowliness and affability? And, as time requireth, a man of marvelous mirth and pastimes, and sometime of as sad gravity. A man for all seasons."
Mr. Hines' Silent Lecture should be the stuff of legends; it is the single most epic display I have ever seen in school.
This man is the reason I'm in graduate school getting my PhD in history. No joke. (May future historians take note.)
He makes math students into history majors. Enough said.
mr. hines has been a teacher here for a really long time, and is confident and experience in teaching history. the extra tips he gives as an ib examiner himself are very useful. however, perhaps because he has been here for so long, ppl are usually hesitant to ask him questions for clarification after class because he seems unwilling to answer them.
great teacher....seriously..i normally hate history..but in his classes......oh and love the sound effects he makes...
He is THE quintessential history experience. After having a class with him, all other history classes just seem kind of....lame. Even so, I do not hold that against him: the experience he provides is amazing. He is one of those teachers that can have you write 5 pages of notes in one class, but you enjoyed every minute of it.
Mr.Hines is one of the best teachers I've ever been taught by. I learn so much everyday, and actually WANT to discuss it with other people. My friends and family have noticed how my love of history has significantly increased since I started Mr.Hines' class.
The best history teacher I have ever had. He can make me pay attention to a 45 minute lecture about the intricacies of Europe without allowing to get bored. Truly fantastic.
Mr. Hines is the most fantastic teacher you will ever have in your life. Seriously. Do anything you can to be in his classes, you will not regret it. He changed how I see the world.
Hines' classes are by far the most interesting, and that really does help any student do better. He really knows his material (he teaches sans notes, for one thing) and teaches you how to ace IB Hist
I am in love with Mr. Hines. He knows everything and can't wait to share it, is engaged and articulate, and could be the Dean of History at ANY university in the WORLD yet teaches us. Love.
His stories are so funny! I actually look forward to history class!
In a school of fantastic history teachers, he stands out.
What can I say? Mr Hines is a wonderful teacher, very helpful- sometimes gives a few extra points on quizes when you get things wrong. I'll miss his many wonderful lectures.
best history teacher ever, really gets into the subject and makes an otherwise boring class something to look forward to everyday.
Mr. Hines is the most inspiring teacher I've ever had; I'm thinking about a career in history because of him. Any class he teaches is one of the best you'll ever take.
His class is probably the only one where I enjoy learning for the sake of it. He's funny, an amazing lecturer, and has taught me a tremendous amount.
it's hard to get used to his teaching style - his lectures are such great stories that it can be distracting - but still a great teacher
Mr. Hines inspired my career, he is the best teacher I've ever had. Booyah!
He knows so much about history, it's ridiculous. The tangents he sometimes goes on are always somewhat relevant, and most definitely awesome. Great teacher.
Mr. Hines is the best teacher I've ever had. I cannot believe he doesn't have a 5.o
Mr. Hines is the most amazing history teacher I've ever had. He helps us remember history by making us laugh. And who else plays Jethro Tull and the 1812 Overture in class???
Mr. Hines is great. He taught me a tremendous amount and, thanks to his amazing lectures, I still remember much of it 10 years later.
10 years down the road I still consider Mr. Hines one of the all-time best teachers I have *ever* known. Do everything possible to take a class from him!
mr. hines is like my hero...he knows EVERYTHING about history!
it took me a while to get used to his style of teaching. But he does have great stories. he really forced me to work for my grades.
The most engaging teacher I've ever had, lots of really incredible lectures (not to mention costumes and accents). Best. Teacher. Ever.
greatest teacher of all time. Only way to describe "the man". I looked forward to 7th pd EVERY DAY....He doesen't ever lecture ... he tells stories!
God knows I hate history, but looked forward to his class everyday, and would take his class as an elective if he was teaching at UVA.
Great Teacher. Best History instruction I received in High School or College, and I have a degree in History now, because of him...
Best history teacher I ever had. Made me want to go into teaching. Still think about his Holocaust and 1812 lectures all the time!
mr hines knows so much about history! and he keeps it fun with awesome stories and great pictures!
Mr. Hines taught me to love history! I still have all my notes from both years of AP Euro. Palmer Rules!
somehow, for me, really hard to understand, and i find his lectures distracting rather than funny. not as in tangents, but as in the way the lecture is given.
Best History teacher in High School or College- most knowledgable, most clear. What a thrill.
He RAWKS! He makes people who don't even LIKE history look forward to his class.
BEST TEACHER EVER...truly loves history and makes all of his students feel the s
The Epitome of Cool. Makes me want to become a teacher.
Extremely smart, his amazing detailed stories make any subject interesting.
my favorite teacher. I don't think I will ever get bored of his class.
this guy can recreate the atmosphere of a historical event like no other...
he's got a little bit ego, but it's easy to see why - he deserves his great rep!
History without Mr. Hines??? I do not believe in such things
He knows everything. He teaches in funny voices, and with music.
