He has been awesome AP US History teacher and has made the class a blast. Some people have said that they are barely learning anything but I honestly don't understand anyone who feels that way. He is incredibly knowledgeable on the subject and has greatly helped my writing as well as preparing me for the exam! As long as you do your work, pay attention in class, and do the reading, you'll do fine. I'm gonna miss it!!
I'm in his Civics class right now and we didn't even finish the last unit lol. He always calls on me for some reason idk why. And he's making us write an essay from something we did a month ago which sucks. If I have him for APUSH I might drop out of his class..
Really nice guy and knowledge about APUSH stuff, but a professional teacher train wreck. His speech is slurry and his room (which he just moved into) has papers stacked on top of each other. He works for the college board and really is invested in having everyone pass the APUSH exam by letting us retake quizzes, doing tutoring sessions with former APUSH students and do test corrections. At least he's willing to post stuff daily on Google classroom that's super thorough.
Franchi is probably one of the best teachers I've encountered at Novi High School. First of all, he's an all around great guy whose enthusiasm for history is infectious. I had him for AP US and he constantly strives to help his students get the grades they want, but it's still a difficult class bc it is an Advanced Placement course, which he still makes fun. As an AP consultant, he's well versed on what to expect on the AP test & tells us what we need to know. Great man, Franchi
LOL.. He had us check our own HW checks for econ and I'm just going to put it out there that I bombed each and every one. Yet when I looked on mistar he gave me 36/36 FULL CREDIT! He definitely grades by favorites but I know I'm not getting higher that a B+ because I bombed a test after the student teacher Mr. White and it brought my grade down to a B. All in all a ehh teacher but a really nice guy
Rodney franchi is a really cool guy. He is very knowledgeable about what he teaches but let me tell you, this guy is so unorganized you wouldn't believe it. We have test from the beginning of the semester he still hasn't graded (it's finals week). The first 15 minutes of class everyday he sits there on his computer. But he is still a good teacher who wants all of his students to succeed. I really like how he gets everyone to share their opinions. Great guy but very unorganized.
Not easy but I've definitely learned a lot.
Not a helpful teacher at all
The content of the class is interesting, and I'm sure I would have enjoyed the class more if I'd had a better teacher. All he does is let us "guide our learning" and doesn't teach us anything.
Lemme give u guys a little rundown of a Franchi's class.
1) walk into class
2) Chill for the first 20 mins while he sits on his computer
3) when he finally comes up to talk he pulls up an agenda with 10 or so things
4) by the end of the class we have finished 2 of those things
5) as we pack up, he casually mentions, "oh and by the way, u have a test tomorrow
6) study your butt off that night
7) come to class ready for the test
8) Test has random material u never learned
Franchi has ZERO organizational skills and does not explain things like an AP teacher should. Casually mentions tests like a week before and then never mentions them again. Should not be teaching APUSH.
He's definitely one of my favorite teachers
Has no organizational skills at all. Going to class is a complete waste of time. He shouldn't be teaching AP US History.
He knows lots about history, even most of the wild theories that people have come up with about historical events, but he's not very good at conveying that knowledge. He teaches with mostly lectures and worksheets, making the class somewhat uninteresting, but the really draws students into discussion, letting them express their own viewpoint.
He's a pretty cool guy, but he plays favorites based on whether or not he thinks you're trying your hardest. He's also pretty unorganized and doesn't lecture all that well, despite that he seems to know a lot about history. Also, his ties are too short and the back part always becomes unaligned with the rest.
First off, you wont learn anything in his class. You are pretty much on your own, having to read the book to learn in this class. He will forget to grade tests, forget to finish lectures, and he sits at his computer for the majority of class. The only bright side to being in his class is that you dont have to do "doing democracy" in civics. His tests are practically impossible with fill in the blanks and no word bank. if you want to get a good grade in civics, i suggest switching teachers.
Not the biggest fan, he is definitely very knowledgeable but is terribly unorganized. He'll forget about quizzes and create them the day of, not put in projects and other homework assignments into Zangle, give us six steps to writing a great thesis and then forget and change it to four steps, start a lecture but never complete it, and a lot more...
he's clueless and has absolutely no organizational skills or classroom management skills. he's only popular because his classes are so easy because he does absolutely nothing in class.
he said he'd "finish up an email" but he stayed on his computer for the whole class. but the thing is it happened every day. he gave us busy work and the material was so hard to learn because all we d
Extremely behind on everything, his stuttering is really distracting and half the time we don't do anything in the class. He fails miserably at explaining directions.
He gives you questions that were not on the reading. If you ask him what you got wrong the essay he won't explain it, but he'll go off onto something completely different. and he always stutters
he is pretty much the worst teacher i've ever had. he does not hand back grades ever.usually about 15 minutes late to class.you would think this would make it easy, but he expects you to teach yourself
Here's my problem with Mr. Franchi, he isn't prepared. His class is a joke and he reads from the book half the time he gives notes. As for favorites, it definitely occurs but its not too bad. I feel like I'm in elementary school in his class.
he clearly plays favorites, he just makes up grades on whether he likes you or not. Franchi would talk about how big packets are and some kids didn't turn in over half of them and got a B
He doesn't play favorites like these people say...all he requires is effort, if he knows you are trying he will work with you. Graduated in '00, by far the best instructor I ever had.
Franchi loved me caused I worked hard and stopped talking when he had something to day. I guess those who don't like him never took him up on his bribe of makin
Of course he grades by favorites...no, I don't think he actually "grades." It's more like makes up the grades. He needs to not take everything personally.
Thought he was unfair in his grading method. I got an A in the class cuz I tried, but I had to work a lot harder than some of his 'favorites' who got As anyway.
what can I say, he is good looking. He is a nice guy and I miss him. His class is hard, but he has to cover what he has to cover
Mr. Franchi is Italian. I like Italians. Therefore, I like Mr. Franchi
He's hard but u hafta work hard in his class. You can earn his respect in class
I'm not gonna lie this guy favors popular ppl, teachs stuff that makes no sense
Whine on........he isn't an easy A like half of the othr teachers
franchi is underrated. the ppl who don't like him aren't hard workers.
I learned nothing and he gave grades according to who he liked best!
Not a fan. Favors peps HORRIBLY & more concerned about how he looks than teaches
