she has 24392085290589058290 expectations for essays and give us a few days to write.
Overall, she's a really cool person though.
I fully agree with what most people are saying here. Do your work, make a good impression (wear nice clothes, eye contact) and participate. YOU WILL DO FINE (sarcasm.)
EXTREMELY DIFFICULT! if you do not want to try in a class, then I would drop this immediantly, she is extremely old so she forgets a lot of things so she will assign a huge book in one day or give us a test with one day of warning NICE SOMETIMES THO
Ms. R has improved my reading comprehension and writing tremendously. Although her workload
To be honest, while you are in her class, you will despise her, her books, her notecards, and her tests. But as difficult and timeconsuming as her work is, you are truly learning. She is very nice, and very intelligent, but she has a tendancy to assign way too much work, for she has unrealistic expectations for her students. It is not unusual for her to assign three or four books at once.
I had Rocky for English 2H this year. I think I turned in maybe three essays this year; got at least a B+ every marking period. She accepts stuff really late without taking off points. Kinda 50/50 with the mood; if she's pissy, just lay low, but when she's in a good mood she's pretty cool. The tests aren't so bad if you read the book; when I was caught up with my reading I got an A+ on errythang. Always maintain eye contact when she looks directly at you! She likes you more if you do.
She's great as long as you act like a human being. Speak correctly, use your head, and prove you can keep up, and she'll love you. Simple. She's really helpful and the discussions are fun, but sometimes the work she wants you to do out of the classroom becomes a bit overwhelming. She's strict, but with a dry sense of humor and a real love of what she teaches. Tip: Don't show up to class looking like a Jersey Shore reject- she values the outward appearance as well as the mind! -EAK
Ms. Rocchino is easily one of the smartest people in the building. Her tests are notoriously hard, and she demands that the students use her own methods for studying and taking notes, but I feel that it is all worth it. Her class is by no means easy, but I can tell even in the second marking period that the payoff will be well worth it. She is not very clear with due dates of assignments, and she tends to mess things up with computers but other than that I think she's an amazing teacher. -Aaron
Many people hate her for her strictness, but that hatred often vanishes for students who make it through the year. If you don't drop her class immediately, you'll begin to see that she is actually an excellent and knowledgeable teacher, albeit a very strict. If you have commitment and want learn English from a great teacher, Rocchino is the one for you.
Roseanne Rocchino is the single greatest teacher that I ever had in high school. She taught me how to truly read a novel, how to write with clarity, conciseness, and flawless grammar, and how grammar should truly be taught. She's not an easy teacher in any sense of the word "easy," but you will come out of her class an all around better, more insightful student and person.
rocchino is fantastic. she really knows what she's talking about, and if you listen to her when she's talking about the material, youll do fine on her tests. of course, you should read the material first, esp if youre taking a reading check. she's got a great sense of humor, and though youll be intimidated by her at first, youll adjust and learn to love her oldfashioned and sometimes stern manner. her class is really laid back and you can have a great time if you loose. i really loved her class.
when she was my teacher she was ms. ...i can't remember but it was the 76-'77 school year and we were at the end of the a-wing..it was a FANATASTIC class...vocabulary!! Loved her!! jim weiner
barely managed to get a B in that class but i have to say, i learned more actual english in that class than any other year so far.she also has a great personality once you get past the first few weeks
She is literally the best teacher I have ever had/will ever have. My current English teacher in NO WAY measures up to Ms. Rocchino. She's the nicest person ever as long as you get the work done/try your best.
I have in her SAT Prep class this year. I can say, without a doubt, that she is probably the most gifted English teacher in this school. She truly understands what she's saying and I guarantee that you will learn something from her class. But, she is no way easy. She is quite strict, and I feel like she thinks that only her way is the right way, which has gotten me and other students in trouble. Don't stay in her class if you aren't prepared for a challenge.
She is an excellent teacher despite her difficulty, you actually learn from her. She's also funny after the first few weeks of school
Ms. Rocchino is awesome. She's a great teacher, and she will teach you so much. From grammar to analyzing books, to essays, to roots and prefixes of words, she's a GREAT teacher. You will be glad to have her. She will change your life. She seems intimidating at first, but she's actually really nice. Always read everything she gives you, even if it's just a pamphlet about a book. There is a 70% probability that a question from a random packet will show up on the test. The tests are very challenging, but the
this is the most amazing person you will ever meet. trust me guys, i thought i was amazing at english as a freshman, then i got roccino. wow i was wrong. but after only a month or so i started being to analyze literature like REALLy good that it even shocked me. she is really funny and acts conceded ON PURPOSE to be funny! she might seem scary at first but shes good-hearted and im honored to have her. next year i will be terrified to have a new english teacher but confident with the skills she alone gave m
I had Ms. Rocchino over a decade and a half ago, and she single handedly taught me how to write. She is not only a great teacher, she is a rare teacher. She is tough. But the rewards are great, and they are lasting. Any student of Ms. Rocchino should be honored to learn from such a talented woman.
Probably the single, most challenging teacher East has to offer. Regardless, I think I'm in love with this woman. Though her tests may seem more ridiculous than Mission Impossible I,II, and III combined, everything you do in her class has a purpose. Excellent teacher. Also -- memorize books word for word.
Really tough, but you learn a lot (esp. how to write and be disciplined in studying). didn't like most of the novels, but still class discussions are stimulating
Mrs. Rocchino is the best teacher you will EVER have. No one teaches English like she does. It might be hard guys, but it'll pay off in the long run.
Although Ms Rocchino is known for being tough, she is the best teacher you will EVER have. Rocchino's notetaking strategies may seem annoying, but they are only beneficial. Personally, I was able to analyze literature without any problems. Rocchino IS the BEST teacher at Cherry Hill East.
Rocchino is definitely one of the difficult teachers you WANT to have. If you strive to be successful in English she is the teacher you want. Advice to the future students is to be consistent with homework, take notes and never cut class she will reward you in the end. English is not my forte but I gave it my best, I was borderline C average, she bumped me up to a B cause I completed all assignments. I have her for SAT prep this year and I'm looking forward to high SAT scores. She has a sense of humor too
MAN she's tough... i came into this class expecting an average english class and boy was i wrong...defenitely the hardest teacher i've ever had, but this is the first time i've actually LEARNED in english. She's a great teacher, but if she is averse to you (like she is to me), then you will have a very challenging (but fruitful) year.
very pushy...knows shes the best and will let everyone know it if the havent already figured it out, over emphasizes critical reading and barely touches on writing all in all a good teacher but a pain to deal with day in and day out
shes very hard and demanding, but it pays off. shes really helpful and an icredible teacher. thanks to her SAT class i got in pinnstate. feel bad that i didnt have her for english:( and btw, i love her style
My 800s in critical reading and writing on the SAT should say something about the quality of her work. Also, it's true, she just wants to scare you, she's actually really nice. She's SO MUCH MORE bark than bite.
shes seriously the best teacher u will ever have. although u wont get close to her at all, u wont have any trouble in the future.
everyone is afraid of her, but she is actually nice, she just wants you to be afraid of her. i joke around with her all the time
I had her class 20 years ago - at first she was really scary and intimidating, but I would have to say she was one of the best teachers I ever had. I still remember many of the things she taught us, and her biggest pet peeve(no passive voice)
Very nice lady. She knows her stuff, she can teach SAT problems without looking at the answer key. 99.9% she will get them right. She can bring your SAT score and English skills up a lot. Make sure you sit up stright, do not yawn, do the HW, study, and do not talk.
i know you all will hate her at first because she is so hard but you will look back and be so thankful you had her and when it comes time for the sats you should thank her! I miss her this year compared to my english teacher now!!
I feared her the moment I first walked into her class, and I still sort of do. She is pretty nice though and she actually is very funny, but I don't like the literature tests. Vocabulary tests are easy as pie - anyone can get an A on one of her vocabulary tests, but literature tests are harder. You have to know the book you're reading inside out to ace them. She is a tough essay grader as well, so revise, revise, revise your essays! She yells if you yawn in her class and she won't let you use "ands".
One of the best teachers I ever had. With three Harvard degrees behind me, I still appreciate all I learned in her class.
She seems very mean but she is actually very nice. She is very VERY knowledgable. Forgetful though
i dont think you can rely on what people think about rocchino until you actually come and experience the class yourself. so taking other peoples words for it isnt a good idea, instead coming and being prepared for anything/everything is a good one. sure this class is very challenging. but its only going to get harder...
i dont think she is that hard, i didnt read half the books and i still manage a B, she is fun sometimes, she is a great teacher and all of the grammar i kno i learned from her, its a challange but def worth it
Oh so scary at times...but if she's in a good mood it's fine.
I LOVE ROCCHINO! coolest teacher by far, loved her class, everything she says is worth remembering, shes SO intelligent..although her class is challenging, if you stay on her good side, she'll make it easy for you, helped me alot this year, couldnt ask for a better teacher, so glad i have her again for sat prep..anyone who has rocchino is a lucky student..ROCCHINO IS BEST TEACHER EVER!! & im her favorite =]
MRS. ROCCHINO is the most intelligent person on the face of the planet. She is honestly the best teacher I have ever had. She is a bit scary, but that is what makes her class so much fun!
haha i love mrs. rocchino!! she makes me laugh every day&is such an awesome teacher. i've learned so much from her this year&i'm so ready for 3H.
look at all those 1's haha. she is a hard teacher honestly, but she does prepare you for english 3H and beyond. really awesome teacher and knows english. so mean sometimes!
Very passionate about her job, very smart, takes forever to grade work. She kinda scares me too.
Miss R is just awsome! She's brilliant, and gets us all in touch with our inner English geniuses. She has complete control of the class at all times. Of course, if you don't do your work she'll flip out, but she's always forgotten it by the next day. Her caustic humor keeps us all laughing (and all on our toes, in a good way). I always looked forward to her class last year. If you take notes the way she tells you to, you'll learn tons of deep, cool stuff about the books you read.
i freaking LOVE the rock. she may be really hard but its 110% worth it. i did well in her class and shes freaking awesomeee. you will learn more ina year than from any1 else there
You'll learn more in Ms. Rocchino's class than you will learn in most of high school. She's undoubtedly the smartest woman alive.
Miss Rocchino was one of the most difficult teachers...yet one of the most influential. You are very lucky if you get her as a teacher!
she is tough but you do learn. so hang in there i guess
hardest teacher u will ever have.... be ready to fail every test u ever take
she might be a bit better teaching college students. she doesn't seem to have the right patience for high school kids
a lil overrated but still a great teacher...knows her subject matter and what shes doing... kind of needs to stop assigning essays one night in advance
Goes into literature too much and acts as if English is the only class we take in school. Smart lady though.
Ms Rocchino was the best teacher I ever had (even through college and law school!) She inspires, challenges, & scares her students into becoming sharp minds.
"I don't need to be here! I passed my S.A.T.s with flying colors!"
she goes too deeply into things, so the questions on tests are like impossible even if you read and understood the book
I LOVE Rocchino! She is the most amazing SAT teacher ever! I feel soooo much more prepared for the SATs because of her! She's the best
Thank You Ms. Rocchino! You are the best English teacher I have ever had. You have helped me learn how to be an active reader and more..i'll always remember you
Really teaches you - knows her stuff. Cool, Smart, and Hip! (Hard - but I am serious about learning)
I really hated her at first and tried to drop the class. But after a month or so I began to love her. I learned so much from her, I wish I could have her again!
you'll hate her at first but you'll grow to love her... she gives a lot of work unexpectedly but you learn a lot... she's also very funny and a feminist
had her for SAT review..she helps..A LOT!..learned more from her than kaplan! thanks~! and pay attention..people outside of school PAY her
one of the hardest teachers ive ever had, but it was all worth it. i am a better person as a result of having her for a teacher.
EXTREMELY hard, but in the end the work pays off. You leave the class unable to believe how much she taught you in one year! INCREDIBLE TEACHER!
She deserves the award for best teacher ever, extremely dedicated and knowledgab
Shes really hard but the best teacher i have ever had. She turns you into her!
my most stimulating class. best teacher ive ever had
helpful...yes, easy.....no, math skills.....hahah YEAH RIGHT
the best english teacher I've ever had along with carr
She knows what she's talking about, and always right somehow...
The best teacher, you dont need to be a junior to appreciate her!
She's the most amazing teacher ever! It's unbelivable how much she knows!
Her class is a test with the greatest rewards in the end. Fab teach.
Very Mean in the mornings especially when your GOIN to HOmey ROom
she is tough but you won't truly appreciate her until you don't have her anymore
Good teacher, has the passion, but forgets everything and blames it on us
She's tough, but i learn more in her class than any other class
b/c she is so tough you feel ready for junior year when your done
