She graded on quantity over quality. Vocab tests were the only things that allowed me to keep an A in that class. Let's just say, she never gave A's on essays. Projects were confusing to understand and the instructions were almost never clear. Also, I had the most homework in this class.
She is very knowledgable and helpful in a classroom setting, but if you are 1 on 1 with her and she doesn't like you, she sounds very condescending and that is my main problem with her. She isn't too difficult if you don't start to give up after the first few tests. The first few reading tests were hell and everybody got below 40 percent. This made me question if I really wanted to try in this class. After that it became easier and the only advice I have is study for vocab.
We got assigned a 200 vocab test and a week to study it, not only that we had a essay due the first 3 days that we had to study. Other than that she is a pretty good/funny teacher. If you get her though, just be REALLY prepared for ALL of her vocab test. They hit you at anytime like a rock...
She would not give any warnings that grades may be affected to new students in 9th grade and fail them. How convenient for her? Talk about developing confidence for the students. I am talking ABLE, SINCERE, WITH HIGH DESIRE TO SUCCEED student. DISGRACE. DISGRACE. DISGRACE. She should be expelled from the school. PERIOD.
My favorite teacher (or at least one of them). Some people don't like her but she is actually super nice and chill. She is humorous and one of the better lit teachers. Study for vocal tests and don't get on her bad side. Sure, she grades hard but annotate a lot and she gives extra credit!
borelli is nice and funny but most of the time she's moody and can definitely be intimidating with her 6 feet height and clonking heels that change every day lmaoo. vocab tests are easy points! study for them and they'll bring up your grade. tests are hard, essays roast your soul (though she gives good feedback). the first semester final (lit/writ) was hell. book analysis will get super deep too. that aside she's very knowledgeable. her class is difficult for sure so gl if you get her!
I have her right now and she gives ridiculous amounts of homework and analysis stuff and pop quizzes and she is just a terrible teacher. She also has favorites, so get on her good side.
As a teacher she is Absolutely exceptional. Though at times a little bit intimidating (Especially beginning of the year) overall great teacher. Also vocab is like absolute free points, annotation annotate as much as possible, and essays just do your best to follow instructions. At times very interactive with students and quite humorous.
In the first semester, she is really moody and has tons of mood swings but in the 2nd semester, she's the best. In essays, she will write what you did wrong and appropriately give you the corresponding letter grade. Her vocab test are easy points so if you study vocab, you'll do well. Grading system is very straight forward and never changes. At the end of the year, she helps improve your writing. Try in her class and you'll see results.
She's difficult to talk to, grades way too hard without clarifying why you lost points, and she's really, really good at losing assignments you've turned in. Overall, she was probably the worst teacher I've had in high school.
3 words. QUANTITY OVER QUALITY
She is definitely one of the hardest teachers but if you participate as much as you can, read the books thoroughly, take really good notes ( although she doesn't say it in class, she gives extra points for a lot of good annotations) and do ALL of the homework (don't BS it) you should be okay. She likes students who participate A LOT and vocab quizzes are EASY POINTS if you study for them through quizlet. The vocab test points will make up for the points you miss on the essays.
Especially moody during first period, she's a really hard teacher. When we take notes, we often hear her groaning while she corrects tests. However, she is extremely knowledgeable and really knows how to analyze texts. She tries to get us to actively participate and have discussions, so just answer and raise questions and it'll be a lot easier for you. She's also a really hard grader and her essays didn't fit my writing style. Still got an A both semesters though. Second semester was really fun.
She seems like a good person, but she is the hardest teacher I've ever had. This class will affect your GPA- she shows no mercy AT ALL. She has a lot of mood swings, and your grade depends on her happiness. She plays favorites, so try and act like you love her, and just lit and basketball in general. Get on her good side, by trying out for basketball, and being smart. Don't be too smart, though, because she hates people who are smarter than she is. You have a really small chance of getting an A.
Your writing skills will definitely improve, that is, IF you make it through the year.
However, she grades noticeably easier in the second semester, especially on the final/ last essay.
And most importantly: don't be discouraged if you don't get a good grade in the first semester; no one does.
Amazing teacher, you will learn SO much in her class, but you'll have to work extremely hard for your A!
She's sick of her job, poor at giving instructions and gives out free candy at times. She is helpful, and knowledgable, but very unapproachable. As there is always fear in the back of your head that she will be disappointed in you no matter what.
She may be hard, but she leaves you a much better writer, and in my opinion she is one of the best literature teachers I have ever had. She teaches you to work hard.
You learn a TON in this class, but it will be extremely hard. If you study for her pop quizzes, and do everything she says, there is a chance you will get an A. Don't be upset if you get bad grades on essays or quizzes. Just study for vocab quizzes.
She is literally the best Lit teacher you can hope for. She teaches you so much, and if you listen, you can succeed. I came in writing horrible essays, and now I have improved. Although she looks a little bit scary, its OK, she is actually very nice.
Really genuine teacher, she's really funny and nice to her students If you get her you need to work though since she's not a joke teacher with an easy A class. But she really cares about her students and offers us help when we need it. learned a lot!
she never gives guidelines and grades super hard. no hope to get a A. overall, i would say she has princess' personality, what i mean is she does whatever she wants in class and never thinks about our feeling and doesn't give a damn for our grades. no responsibility for what she grades. only thing i can do in this class is pray to HER and wish for a good grade. well, i suggest just quit her class which seems less stressful.
I have an A in this class. It isn't as difficult as people make it out to be. She's tough but fair in terms of grading, and although she picks favorites, she won't hate on you unless you've done something to deserve it. Essays are graded very harshly; ask for advice Survival Tips: show a good work ethic, listen and do what she tells you ( I can't emphasize that enough), STUDY, at least appear to like her class, don't question her, avoid talking when she's in a bad mood. You will learn a lot.
she seems really scary at first and can be really moody. be logical and dont try to be a smart aleck because she really hates that. use your judgment; dont go around complaining about her because she hates you because you dont behave in her class or you dont follow instructions. shes an extremely good lit teacher, but does grade hard on essays. few people get A's. she will give ex.cr. on most annotating assignments if you do extremely well (she doesnt announce these things). 3-4 quizzes a week
Her class is hard, and most everybody gets a B in this class, and you will have to work very hard to get an A. The key is persistency and patience. Tests and quizzes are given out 3-4 times a week on average, so do your homework! Listen in class to her instructions, because she only says it once and then you are on your own. I thought her class was stressful from the mass homework load, but in the end, I thought that I learned a lot, which is why I think Borelli, while hard, is a great teacher.
You need to do little things to get on her good side. At beginning of year, analyze how she grades your essay and learn her writing style. Although she is very particular about essays, I feel like my writing has improved overall. Also, she assigns a lot of writing and when she gives instructions, take notes.
There r less than 6 people with A's, however she does round from 89. I am one of her favorites and still have a high B. She does give some extra credit. She grades rough drafts. No one i know has gotten an A on an essay. Romeo and Juliet project hella hard
Very hard teacher but helps a lot. She helps you learn a lot.
shes ridiculously hard grading wise and shes super moody if you get her i would recommend changing out unless you dont mind getting a bad GPA she helps you for the rest of high school i guess shes good but not THAT good Cs are expected on essays, study hard for pop quizzes which are pretty much everyday, shes not good with keeping up grades and not necessarily a good teacher she plays favorites and tough love is her thing. JOIN BBALL IF YOU CAN BC SHE LOVES THAT. good luck!
Let me be honest on this one. Yes, she works you hard and grades hard. But I still like her as a teacher because I know that I'm learning a lot of things and getting well prepared. I have a great time in her class, and that's worth the extra time I have to spend on homework.
Everyone hates her, grades extremely hard and unfair.updates school loop once per month and takes no responsibility for grading mistakes.
I'm gonna be fair here. She is very strict which really pushes people to work hard. She offers help and really spends time with you in helping. But she's not good at telling people what she wants, and she rarely posts hw online. She takes late work which is nice. HOWEVER, she obviously has favorites and she is not very trusting. She misunderstands people and is a little moody.
borelli is extremely hard, but her difficulty is what prepares students extremely well for future years. Also, she is much better than my teacher this year
She is hard and makes you write alot but you learn alot from it. She is really nice and helps you...
HARDEST TEACHER EVER. I did not like her that much. She made us work very hard but it definitely paid off. She is not my favorite teacher, but she is still all right.<3
How can you describe Sarah Borelli? In a word...amazing. Or awesome. How about outstanding? She is the reason I graduated high school...no joke. She is tough but fair. She has a passion for studen
Her class is the hardest class I have ever taken. But I also learned the most in the class. My writing went from horrible to structured. I spent more time on Lit than the rest of my classes combined.
hardest lit teacher i've ever had, worked my **** off for an A, but learned A LOT! my writing improved a lot, my vocab grew. now that i look back, it was definitely worth it.
She gives way too much hw with way too much printing. And I have to spend 4 times as much time on her class than all the others combined.
I remembered her as a caring, passionate teacher when I was a freshman, but now as a senior I have to say she has completely changed. It truly saddens me to say this, but I can no longer recommend her
I miss her class too xD She was really hard but I actually learned a LOT. I barely got an A and I suffered a lot but it's better than soph year. Now that I think back her class was pretty interesting.
i miss her class. it was fun, and easy to get involved. this year i don't even need to study for lit thanks to the prep she gave us. :D the problem ppl had last year was not having common sense.
shes such a hard teacher and you will work like you have never worked before. but shes always willing to help just make sure your her favorite like i was !
Since she doesn't initially make her expectations very clear, you will oftentimes learn them from the poor grades you receive.
She is a heartless, souless woman, and she will put you through hell. But suffer through the year, and you will ace every lit class you take. Her class is miserable, but you will thank her later.
a lot of work but if you pay attention and do what is required, you'll learn a lot and get an A. Plus she prepares you for all the other lit classes which seem easy after hers's. Horrible with tech.
She makes you work a ton to receive an A, but she is very helpful. You can tell that she cares about both her students and the subject which she teaches. BTW: Going to BB Games Gives You EC!
Weirdest mood swings. Does prepare you well when it comes to essays, but you gotta suffer the bad grade before actually learning information. Lots of room for improvement though. But class isn't fun.
she is not a person deserving of any respect at all. her class is living hell if you're unlucky enough to not understand her weirdo instructions. TRANSFER IF POSSIBLE
you are awesome Ms. Borelli, i will never forget your support in my hard time : )
Speak up, do absolutely every homework assignment, and do it well. Study before every single test. You have to work hard for an A. Don't slack, don't talk back, and prepare to feel uncomfortable.
Ok there's a lot to say about her...she can an amazing teacher one day, helpful, nice, and awful the next. This class is seriously hard, however, its like taking an honors class in freshman year.
her class is extremely hard. she gives you pop quizes almost every week. she is a nice person, and your allowed to eat in her class, sometimes if she really likes your class she will bring you food
A very hard teacher!!!!!! Also I don't know if she does that all the time, but for my final which was a speech she only put the rubric and the instructions on schoolloop 1 day before we did the speech
Great teacher, grades extremely hard especially on essays). She also prepares you really well for the next grade and your writing will improve no matter what. Work hard, andbe prepared for hard quizzes
she has MOOD SWINGS, depending on whether her basketball team has been doing well or not. She plays favorites most of the time, but it even a teacher's pet will have to go with her mood swings.
She can be a scary, loving, admirable, smart, and incredibly unfair teacher all in one. Depending on her mood. The class is hard, but you get a LOT out of it. It really helps your lit skills :].
You have to work ridiculously hard for an A (might not get it) but very willing to help outside of class time. She has mood swings everyday creating intense pressure/fear..bad for teaching environment
Hardest teacher/class I've ever had. She is a good person tho.
She's a great teacher depending on the class. She is also a good mentor and will help you when you NEED it not when you ask for it.
Hard, but you learn a lot. You need a work a lot though. She's kinda scary, like she'll eat you or something.
She is pretty hard. I think she needs to lower the pressure.
She is a very improffesional teacher, she is kind of ridiculous in her grading. Not exactly cool, thinks she is.
She is a really good lit teacher, she teaches you so many things. If you get her stay there, but you might not get an A you learn a lot and are really prepared for the next grade! She is very cool!
she won't let you get away with being irresponsible, even if you have a 100% in her class. at times, you'll want to strangle her, but, but she'll help you improve your writing no doubt.
She gives way too many tests and quizzes. Also she gives a lot of homework
The class is not that hard, she just gives a lot of busy work like everyday. Be prepared to bs paragraphs about how the characters in a book reflect society.
She really does not know what she teaches. Her discussions consists of reading notes she took from Sparknotes (verbatim) How well you get taught is entirely contingent upon her mood that day, and grading is inconsistent
shes is nice and helpful but she grades really hard only one person in my class had an A at the end of the year
she's nice and stuff but she grades so hard and assigns the most pointless assignments
Borelli was one of the hardest teachers Ive ever had!!! but she was awsome!!!! nice, but her class is hard...EXTREMELY HARD but cool teacher!!!
she always seems like she hates coming to class and doesnt care about the students. she doesnt make an effort to be energetic and caputure our interest. she thinks it is sufficient to teach us with long, dry handouts. but i know she enjoys the subject.
she take care of nonenglish speaker and she is a good teacher to help you understand more english vocab
