Damassa is for a particular group of students. The top students. Her title is Dr. so she knows her stuff. She is extremely well educated and nice. She may come off intense and scary, maybe strict too, but she is a great person and a great teacher. Although it is a difficult class, and she doesn't make it easier, she prepares you for high school and teaching yourself is a good skill. But don't ever hesitate to go to her for questions, especially after school.ALSO, do NOSB!! <3
Tough class I struggled a lot and she didn't help me much
I am current freshmen in Dr. Damassa's Earth Science class. She has made my freshman year horrible. All of her tests are impossible and she has probably made me cry at least 3 times. She is the most unfair teacher I have ever encountered. She usually never teaches us in class. Instead we watch planet earth videos, look at un helpful diagrams she finds online, or listen to her continuously talk about her family (especially her children). If you have her in the future, switch put while you can!
She is a pretty good teacher, but when you ask questions she pretty much tells you to find it out yourself. However, she is great during class discussions, and answers questions even if they are slightly off topic. She is a very harsh grader, but nothing easier could be expected from honors earth science
she is good no. 3.1415926535, 2.71828, 1.618033, .11000100
Teaches alot and helps students learn.
She is a very kind teacher that is really knowledgeable about Earth Science, She helps you a lot and teaches great. I learned so much.
f*** this s*it. shes a shi*ty teacher.
Dr. Damassa is nice to you if she likes you. She taught well and I learned a lot, but HER TESTS WERE FREAKING IMPOSSIBLE. Expect a C at best.
She knows what she is doing. I had an average of 85, I get 100 and 95 on the following tests, my average goes down. Makes sense :). This teacher thinks with logic and applies it to each person. The unpredictability of the tests is amazing.
literally the most psychotic woman I have ever met
Dr. Damassa is literally the worst teacher that I and way too many people I know have ever had.
She assigns MULTIPLE LABS AT A TIME and she expects all of them to be spotless and flawless when you hand them in. also, she doesn't do enough review before the tests. The worst part though is the multi-tasking that she does. also beware the Climate Project in the Honors class. I hated that thing.
I am an honor student this year and it was a lot harder than I expected. Her quizzes are more like tests, and her tests are like final exams. However, they're not impossible to pass. I feel like sometimes she is a bit unclear on her expectations, and when a quiz or test comes we are unaware of the exact content. She constantly reminds us for the first half of the year that she is always available for extra help, which she is. I find her "test corrections" to be actually very helpful.
I am a freshman in her class this year.... and it sucks. She does not know how to teach, and for some reason refuses to help you before tests and quizzes even though she tells you to come in! Whenever you ask her for help or some advice she always directs you to the textbook or packets that she grades rather harshly and never gives you the right answers too. She also always goes on unnecessary tangents about her children whenever you ask her a science related topic.
Her test are almost having nothing to do with her study guide and u will probably nvr actually score below a 90 which if u don't u have to do the dumbest thing called test corrections which she doesn't even look through but gives a check
While it is common knowledge that this earth science class is one of the more difficult classes at LHS Damassa is clearly the hardest and least fair of the freshmen science teachers. I find that as a level 1 student I am expected to be as good as an honor student. However the biggest issue is how she "holds students' hand" up until the test, which is graded rather harshley
She did not have any clear description on what her tests and quizzes were going to be on it. Her class made me stressful for every quiz and test she was giving. She referred me to the book whenever i needed help and was useless getting help. I felt that learning earth science after her class was useless
I really liked her class, even though it was very difficult at times. Occasionally grading is unfair, but altogether i liked her as a teacher. be prepared. its ADVANCED.
You ARE the one who signed up for ADVANCED earth science, and being one of the hardest classes in the high school, I feel like Damassa understands the difficulty. Ask questions and you'll be ok
she might be hard, but she teaches everything and is pretty fair in terms of grading and stuff
Too many people overreact and in reality she teaches everything, you just need to pay attention do the readings she gives.
she is a nice lady, but I did not appreciate her teaching. coming from the middle school, you will have a culture shock. tests are incredibly difficult. even the smartest kids only get Bs. she uses another teacher's exams, but doesn't go over the same stuff, making it even more difficult. her teacher style can be confusing sometimes, so be sure to do the assigned reading.
Pretty good teacher, but her class is really hard. Class time is fun and you learn a lot, but you need to study really hard for her tests.
She really cares students^0^ Since I came here first, as a new foreign student, she has helped me really well.
if science isn't your favorite subject and you don't have hours of free time to study for her tests then you should not be in her class...she is the hardest adv earth science teacher
Extremely nice, cares about students. Tough, but fair, and excellent with explaining and helping. Truly enjoyed my time with her.
One of the best teachers I have ever had. She has a lot of interesting things to say, and she is really good at explaining difficult material. Make sure to keep up in the reading though!!!
She's an awesome teacher, and she knows her stuff really well. Working hard is a must, but it's worth it.
She is mostly nice, and in retrospect, the workload was not too heavy either.
Terrific teacher. She's well-organized, available for extra help, very positive. Class is tough. But my daughter learned so much in Advanced Earth Systems.
knows her stuff! She's tough coming from middle school but do all the assignments and study well and you'll do fine. Gave the fairest tests I've ever had.
Ms Damassa was one of the best teacher i had my freshman year. Hard to get used to after 8th g. but if you do all the work you'll be fine. Tests are VERY fair but do the work!!
good teacher but dont fall asleep durring a movie or else she will sit behind u for every movie the rest of the year
Great NOSB coach! I really loved her, and she is really fun. I learned a lot with her!
Hard grader but a good teacher. Enjoys teaching and it comes across. Really nice, make sure to study though.
nice, but you have to work. her obsession with rocks/minerals is... amusing...
Tests are challenging but fair. Reallly nice if you give her a chance. Get over freshman coolness insecurities and enjoy the subject with an enthusiastic teach!
Her tests are soooo hard. She's a great person justa really bad teacher. she doesn't care if you do bad in her class. but is good at explaining if you need help
her obsession w/rocks and minerals can be annoying but she tries to challenge her students as well as helping them "enjoy" and suceed in earth science
She's nice if you're NOT talking about science. Rambled on about stupid things and KNEW she was putting us to sleep. Has faves and tests are hard
Looking back on freshman year,I realize what a great teacher Damassa was.She was incredibly clear, always helpful, and enthusiastic. She made me want to try hard
She knows a lot and she's nice but she doesn't know how to teach clearly. She istn't clear about what will be on the tests. If you put effort in, you'll learn
As a freshman, she ruined me. I lost interest in science, and didn't realize my scientific ability until years later.
I had Mrs.Damassa for freshmen lvl 1, so for me it was very easy to get an A. Even so, she is nice and will always help someone who takes time to see her.
sometimes i just cant sit through a class, the labs are fun but for some reason i feel like ive had bad reception all year cause sometimes i just cant tune in.
SOMETIMES SHES COOL SOMETIMES... SHE REALLY GETS ON MY NERVES... ABUT CLOUD FORMATION.... WHO CARES
Mrs.Damassa is a nice person and a fair grader which is what I admire about her. I am in lvl 1 science so it is easy. She pronounced white really funny.
Teaches THOROUGHLY...Notes = helpful but annoying...overall outcome at end of year = smarter..dun't be lazy chilrun!!
she can't speak. she can't pronounce madrid or reykjavik.
personally I think ms damassa is a good teacher I am just in the advanced class so its harder for me
She's easy. Her class is easier than my 8th grade science class.
Ms. Damassa is probably a great scientist. That's not the problem. She knows what she talking about, but she can't explain it very well. Also, she gets way to excited about mid atlantic ridges.
If you want to learn, she's there to teach 100%. If you want to slack she'll nail you with a bad grade. This is how it should be. She made me fall in love with science and has continued to teach me life lessons along the way.
Her class is extremely hard as long as you're not in lvl 1 science. she holds extra help sessions, but isnt very clear when she talks so usually cant help much anyway
The hardest teacher on the planet! She thinks her class is so much fun but it's not!!! It's living hell!
