Honestly, even though her class is very hard and basically a college course, I can really feel myself develop in writing. In the beginning of the year, she is very intimidating and there are countless essays; but just keep on pushing through because it pays off. I really like her commentary to books and poems because she explains it thoroughly and i truly feel like I understand the text. Words of wisdom : read directions and don't slack of in her class.
pretty average teacher, expect a lot of essays in the first few months of school
I had Mrs. Gialdini for Honors and AP and as a 9th grader, she seemed unapproachable, but as I later realized this had a lot to do with my natural shyness. Looking back, I attribute my writing prowess to her classes, as although grading was difficult initially, especially margins, I learned a lot about analysis and speaking techniques and didn't have to study for the AP exam. I got a 5. For anyone who is taking her class for the first time - put effort into your writing! It gets better.
I had Mrs.Gialdini for my sophomore and junior years of high school and I loved her so much. She's extremely intimidating (not gonna lie), but, once you get to know her, she's much more approachable. She's also so knowledgable and willing to help outside of class if you need. It's a really hard class (as is our english department at AHS), but it's definitely managable to get an A if you work hard. She wrote my reccomendation letter for college and was honestly my favorite teacher at American.
I'm Paramjot Singh and I had the pleasure of having Ms. Gialdini in my freshman year. While at first you feel a bit overwhelmed, by the 2nd half of the 1st quarter the sailing should get a bit smoother. That doesn't mean the course is easy, but you get used to what is expected of you and how to fulfill those expectations. I promise you that the effort you put into her class is worth it. I came out of Ms. Gialdini's class a better writer and thinker. Good luck and enjoy the course!
although she grades really hard on essays and projects, she was a great teacher and i learned more from her than any other english teacher ive had so far
I had Mrs. King my sophomore year. She taught honors English. She graded very hard, a tough grader BUT if you follow the minimal on her rubric (she practically is the follow the rubric type, so just either follow it or bs it with key words she likes like "diction" "depicted" et), she'll give at least a B. Her projects you must design one per quarter is actually very helpful in real life. You learn more than your grades will show. I think I spent 8 hours the morning of turning in the projects.
Mrs. Gialdini is a great teacher who is knowledgeable, however she is a VERY hard grader and has high standards. She will mark you off if your essays are not MLA format. I took her AP English class without taking honors and managed to do well. She has weekly quizzes and reading quizzes which can either help or hurt your grade. I find that her reading quizzes can be hard at times. There are a few projects and a lot of essays. She can be intimidating, but she is a great teacher.
Mrs Gialdini is the first English Teacher who actually taught me something! She sets very high standards in her class so it is not easy to score highly unless you really put in 100% effort. Awesome teacher indeed!
Not a really good teacher
She expects you to be super geniuses so if you aren't one of the smartest people in your grade, you're going to die.
Mrs. Gialdini may seem hard, but she's not if you put in time and effort onto the assignments. I raised my grade from a C to an A- with some extra hard work. She's a little more on the difficult side, but tolerable.
avoid getting her she'll ruin your gpa and life, so nitpicky
She's a great teacher that explains concepts really well and her tests are easy. The essays are alright, she's very critical about them, but it's something that influences someone to do better.
You do not want to get her shes like the most nit pickest person i've met
She is going to seem like a witch at first, but you just really need to do EXACTLY what she says in order to be on her good side. Do not chill in her class at all. She's not a rude person, she's a sweetheart outside of the class.
Pretty hard class, not that bad if you can get the hang of hard work.
she ma favorite teacher. not. she do the margins good. not. she grades goodly. not. she grade me essays nise. not.
Ms. king is probably one of the most ignorant teachers ever. She always views herself as superior . One time i tried to argue with her writing format by comparing her strategy to another writing struc
Very hard! Very annoying! Not the best teacher and i would reccomend a very good tutor to pass her class!
If you know Mrs. Martin, she is the wannabe. She makes the class ridiculously hard especially for the level, and really does not improve your writing or comprehension at all. I didn't learn squat!
Oh my goodness! This schol year [08-09] has only a few more days left and I am still up to my neck in homework for Mrs. King. She is biased, strict, and hard. =[
She is so picky! lowest grade i've ever had in an english class. But at least i'll be ready for college english by my sophmore year.
Always holds students to higher standard than she holds for herself. She is intimidating and not funny at all.
A.K.A. Ms.Steffensen. good teacher, I'm actually unofficially related to her. Do the work, pay attention, and participate, and you'll do fine.
