Comp. Lit is an extremely rigorous class that I would suggest for only dedicated English lovers who are willing to spend an hour and more reading 30 pages. The class has intense reading amounts and we wrote an essay about every month. Mrs. O'Keefe is super nice and is a very very good English teacher, I feel very prepared for college level writing and I learned so much in her class. You can make many appointments with her and she is very helpful. A hard class, but I definetly improved.
Alternative titles for O'Keefe - Glorious teacher. God of English. Book analyser queen.
Her reading quizzes are notoriously picky but if you get a good score you know you've earned it. In class essays are hard but if you listen to her (extremely thorough) comments you'll improve in no time. Her extra credit policy is very fair (up to 20 pts a semester).
Arguably the best teacher overall @ DHS. Her class is challenging but satisfying and drastically improves your work ethic.
Mrs. O'Keefe doesn't actually teach you to write. She teaches you how to reiterate whatever it is that she wants you to. If you enjoy creative writing, or even interpreting things for yourself, don't take this class. The books are awful, the class worse. She is old-fashioned and doesn't help you for the future.
If you're okay with writing in-class essays, her class will be incredible. She is very thorough when explaining the symbolism in theliterature and, even though all her essays are in-class, she gives more than enough resources ahead of time. If you're willing to put in effort, her class is very interesting and enjoyable. She is the reason I enjoy English as a class.
Ms. O'Keefe is a wonderful teacher. She seems a little harsh in the beginning because her policies about the class are so strict, but in reality she is such a sweet teacher. Her grading on the first essay will hurt you emotionally, but just because everything you think you know about writing essays is garbage. It will blow your mind. But if you listen to her critique your grade will improve dramatically. The only scary thing is that every essay of hers must be written in class.
Ms. O'Keefe is hands down the best teacher I've ever had. She's tough in the beginning, but she definitely eases up at the end of each semester. My entire way of thinking and learned has improved from taking her class. This is the best prep for college I could ever ask for. She's also an incredibly sweet person if you talk to her; you can tell she cares about her students a lot. She is strict, but she's always fair and respectful.
Amazing teacher who helps your writing exponentially. She is very nice/funny but is very tough. She is simply delightful as a person. And her cats name is Timmy.
hardest english class ive ever had but learn the most ive ever learned
Really rigorous class and sometimes you'll probably hate her too. But you end up loving her for everything you learn.
Really good teacher. Sometimes a bit mean and condescending, but I think it's worth it in the end.
She's hard but well-intentioned. If you legitimately want to learn, I totally recommend her.
she's hard but she's funny and nice and you learn a lot
Hard class and she's a little on the mean side, but I did improve as a writer so I guess that's a good thing.
Hardcore and not always pleasant to deal with (a little mean), but you can't knock the education you will receive. Definitely the best English teacher at DHS by far.
shes basically the in the top 2 for english teachers at dhs. she's hard but you will become such a better writer!
Also one of the best teachers I had at DHS and one of the best English teachers ever - even now in college (at UCB). Learned a lot and really learned how to write from O'Keefe
Ms. O'Keefe is my favorite teacher ever. She does an amazing job explaining writing and english concepts and pushes her students to do their very best. I really have become a stronger writer in this

Hard, but a VERY good teacher. Integrates humor and class discussions to keep her lessons interesting. I improved my writing GREATLY. Expect to work hard for an A
Most amazing teacher I've ever had. I've never learned more from a teacher.
tough but good. A little intense but only means well.
If you have her for Comp. Lit, stick with it! first quarter is the hardest! Just work hard and be willing to change your writing. By the end of senior year, you'll love Ms. O'Keefe and English Class!!
I had Ms. O'Keefe my junior year English was my favorite class of the year. It's not as hard as Comp Lit.!!!
Her class is HARD. I hated Miss O'Keefe, but her class REALLY helped.
ms o'keefe is an extremely hard grader, but she is the best teacher i've ever had. i learned so much in her class and really improved my writing.
Ms. O'Keefe is an inspiration and a very good teacher! Her class is tough but she is great! She cares about all her students.
She will teach you to write and get you to think. Overall, a great teacher.
She is one of the best teachers I've ever had. It is a hard class, but if you take it, your writing will improve immensely. Be willing to work and learn.
