She's got quite the bravado for being like 4'10. She knows her Spanish but she is without a doubt one of the most clueless "educators" i've encountered. Really enjoys the power dynamic between students and teachers.
Coming from a student she liked and passed with an A both semesters, she would not give us guidelines for projects and expect us to know how to do it, teach us basics and expect us to apply it to more complex concepts, and pat herself on the back for telling us stuff that we didn't care about
Let's see, I'm a recent college graduate and currently work at a high tech firm headquartered in Sunnyvale, Ca. For all you poor students out there who has been at the receiving end of Ms. Fig's "you won't make it in the business world" rant, have faith, I turned out quite all right!
As one other user nicely articulated, "she's a good teacher, but evil person." As I write this review 7 years after taking her class, I can only hope my little sister has a better human being for a Spanish teache
I had Fig for spanish 2 as a freshman. At the beginning of the year I thought she was mean but I realized she is actually disciplining us. She has taught me more than any other teacher at westmont. Like, she's actually a good teacher. It's better in the end for your future. She's funny and energetic and won't give up on you. I had Tav for spanish 3 and I honestly would have rather had Ms. Fig because I know she would have actually taught us. She's really helpful. Yes she's harsh, but it's good.
Spanish 3 is hard if you havent had her for spanish 2. SHe expects you to know everything aboud subjunctive when she doesnt teach it. YOu have to have had her for spanish 2 or ur screwed over. She spends class talking about how no ones gonna make it in the buisness world instead of teaching. She favors students and is rude. She is awesome OUTSIDE of class but during class she makes you hate spanish. She claims we shouldnt be scared of making mistakes orally but when we do she is downright mean.
i dont care about the buisness world im in her class to learn spanish..... i can not wait for the day i can walk out of her class for the last time
Everyone on here seems to hate Ms. Fig but honestly, her class is the best I've taken at Westmont. It's the strict teachers who are the ones who are really good because they not only teach you their subject but you also learn about yourself. You'll be better prepared for every class with the study skills you learn and Fig's a great person - I had her for Sp2 and I go back to her class for Sp3 help and just to talk. Hard class, but if you work hard you'll do well. NOT as scary as everyone says!!
She is definitely a tough teacher. Her class is not an easy A. She can be harsh at times, but she isn't really as bad as everyone says.
ok teacher, but she never tells us what is required for projects and other work :P
She is a tough teacher and really makes you work for your grade. But if you pay attention and do the work, you will learn a lot from her.
Best teacher ever. She knows what shes talking about and she understands the concept of teaching a language. Shes nice if you're a hard working student and she cares if you are failing.
Her work is hard, but she teaches Spanish very thoroughly and you learn more in her class than most Spanish classes. She's strict, but fun-loving.
She made Spanish extremely harder then it has to be, she grades each student against eachother and she doesnt grade the way she says she will grade. You must be prepared for this class and try hard.
While there's no denying that Ms. Fig is VERY strict, she does want you to succeed and tries to help you. Just make sure to study for all her tests, they add up quickly.
Scary at first, u'll get used to it. Very hard!! Just pay attention
Although you learn alot in her class, she is super difficult. she isn't really clear with directions causing you get a bad grade because you didn't meet her "expectations." always study in her class.
She once threatened to hit a student with her crutch if they didnt stop talking and she was serious, she needs anger management. Boy did I hate that class.
Fig is the BEST Spanish teacher you'll ever have. Wanna know why?Cuz SHE ACTUALLY TEACHES. She explains better than anyone else, and if she's strict and mean, it's cuz you're not trying hard enough.
Great teacher. Difficult but fair and you learn a lot.
She is overly strict. Everyone in the class is terrified of her. She lectures way too much. She expects way too much. She makes spanish so much harder than it has to be. Her vocab tests are rediculous
she really scares me. she is a VERY hard teacher. she throws stuff at people. screams a lot and gives never ending lectures that have nothing to do with spanish. gave tons of pop quizzes.
i like ms fig as long as she is not my teacher. She is strict. She makes spanish so much harder than it needs to be Everyone is so scared of her. She doesn't create an safe place to share or for orals
best at teaching spanish...but definately rude. she is my least favorite teacher and i can honestly say im terrified of her.
Mrs. Fig is a hard tracher. She expects all students to work hard in her class. However, she is the BEST foreign language teacher at Westmont. I learned so much from her.
extremely good teache.i learned so much.very strict.participation in her class is very important.great friend outside classshe'll teach u important things bout life.never be tardy.
She's a wake up call. VERY VERY good teacher though. Her lessons carried me through Spanish 3. You have to work hard, but thats a GOOD thing -- helps you learn the material.
She Needs to give us some lee-way when she teaches. She need to relax and slow down. She is right spanish is hard. That why she needs to slow down! Give us a break!
This woman is downright rude to both students and parents, yet expects respect from the students. Spends more time "correcting" the students' behavior than teaching Spanish.
mrs. fig. is sooooo nice when u r out of her class, she a great teacher though...love ya
Good teacher, evil person. If you want to learn Spanish, her class is good, but if you just want your credits and an easy-A consider transfering.
