Mr. Smits is a good teacher because he stays on topic. He goes over homework every day and he expects you to be prepared by making you prenotes. Even though prenotes are annoying and pretty much copying the book it helps by glancing over the material beforehand. The best part is that for every test you get an extra 5 points for turning in sudoku or plexers and that helps a lot for your grade. He is really nice and loves to joke around with students.

honestly, biggest mistake of me to doubt this dude. i totally regret writing a bad review. hes actually really cool and funny. Yeah the prenotes are a pain but if you do em and dont understand them, just ask him the next day and he'll thoroughly explain it to you. just have patience. its all i can tell you

He is the worst math teacher ever. all he does is sit down and go through pointless powerpoint slides. he never explains anything clearly....very confusing he makes us copy notes from the book which is completely pointless. he is the reason why i got an F in geometry and i usually get As in every math class every year he screwed up my high school schedule. worst teacher ever.

Extremely picky with work, wants everything done in his certain way, sometimes without even mentioning it. Docks off points on tests like no tomorrow for useless work related things, even if you have the correct answer. (Alg 2) Do not recommend.

I had trouble in his class because he wouldn't finish lecture, so homework was hard, so then the next day we'd spend the whole period reviewing the last night's homework and would hardly go over the next lesson and it was an infinite loop. Bad at teaching a class, but if you ask him for help after class, or if you don't have him, at the library, he's great and very informative! Super sweet and kind too but he's super dorky haha.

Mr. Smits tries his best to be a great teacher, which he always continues to show ever since i had him back when i was a freshman to the times when i became his TA. He goes to meetings to learn how to become a better math teacher and always means the best for his students. He goes over every single concept and spends most of the class time answering questions thoroughly to ensure that students understand the material. He has a great sense of humor and even holds a tutoring class for students afterschool.
