When taking ap lang or film study it feels like you're taking a philosophy class. He rants about Oedipus, the hero's journey, political science. He's funny and an awesome teacher!
if i had the chance to change this event in my life i would he is horrible run for your life
Literally the biggest joke of a class. Took him for AP Lang and did really well. He's super lazy and loves to rant about his life. Doesn't give homework, besides just reading like 2 pages and then being quizzed on it the next day (which wasn't that bad). Much easier grader for papers compared to VanTrees. Basically you want Paugh!!
Mr. Paugh is not what you expect when you're taking AP Language. He's very chill and lenient and unlike other AP Lang classes, his students write about 2-4 essays per quarter, whereas other students write around 6-7. It may seem like he's lazy, but honestly he just likes to talk to students about current events and philosophical ideas. Sure you don't learn much about AP Lang for the AP Exam, but you sure do learn much more about life in general.
great teacher with great philosophical ideas. very funny and charming as well.
Dont know if he is still teaching but he was an awesome film studies teacher I mean he broadened my horizons to westerns and foreign films. Overall he was a good film teacher I highly recommend him fo
Doesn't "teach to the test" as much as others, but the lectures he gave always made me think. He's an incredibly smart teacher and I learned more from him than any handout, worksheet, or textbook.
Teaches unconventionally, but really knows what he's talking about. I've had him for AP English 11 and Film Studies, and I've never asked a question he couldn't answer!
Did not teach english effectively. He talked too much about non-english stuff which had the purpose of helping us build arguments, but was not effective. Also completely changed grading 4th quarter.
If you're taking AP english, you want him. He is so chill that you forget it's an AP and half of the time he just rambles on about politics. You don't think you'll pass the exam, but you WILL.
Definitely a character. He likes to ramble on about politics and whatever currently interests him but the stuff you learn can be applied to all sorts of things (including the AP exam).
Nice teacher with film studies but adds little clarity any subject unless restated many times.
Paugh is so chill. You never do anything except watch movies and talk about nothing. Never had any big assignments to do. Did nothing the whole year.
He's not for everyone but his laid back style and predictable cynicism was very refreshing. Really funny if you don't take him too seriously.
I had him for Film Studies. He is OK. I like the smell of his room, smells like coffee all the time. He is out there. way out there. He sometimes goes on a power trip, and is usally pretty negative.
his class was my favorite out of my entire high school career. he's amazing. i feel privledged to have had him as a teacher.
Mr. paugh is the coolest person i have ever met. i had the class with alihan and he is truly straight outta compton. mr paugh is the man and no one says otherwise
mr.paugh is one of the self-proclaimed better teachers at WHS, at least he knows what he's talking about. today he actually asked us to think up random topics to waste time. hes AMAZING :)
I LOVE THIS GUY. MY FAVORITE TEACHER OF ALL TIMES IN MY EDUCATIONAL YEARS (ABOUT TO GRADUTE HS) he's sooo laid back and makes the subject interesting like nobody ever could. COMPTON, alihan.
an interesting teacher, he likes to you give personal details about himself, but it make you respect him more, hes funny but in an intellectually wise way, hes great
A bit... unusual of a man, but a good teacher. I got placed into Film Study due to a gap in my schedule and was concerned it was going to be a slacker class, but it wasn't! He made it so interesting!
His AP English class is great. He's intriguing, and that's saying a lot (rhetorically, not literally).
hes like the overlooked renegrade teacher who just ignores 80% of the rules. A rare pleasue to be a student in his class, treats all students like adults but also expects them to understand some complex ideas.
Mr. Paugh is uberly awesome. I love his ideas, and the depth we go into. His innovational teaching methods are a GALE of fresh air. :D He is a great man.
His film study class was wack, he gave us a final which we had to grade ourselves. He is so lazy he just gave us all B's instead of actually doing work.
Great guy! Film study highly recommended for people with ACTUAL interest in movies. Slackers: you will hate it.
I'm not always sure what I'm learning, but I know I'm ready to face not only the AP test, but the real world. My perpective has really matured in his class.
i don't like that class at all. mr paugh is an ok guy but i guess i don't grasp his stuff
7th period last year was the best! he is the coolest teacher that i have had. Very smart man! Didnt go by the curriculum, but thats good! I learned alot! Thanks
Awesome film class. Don't listen to naysayers, the ideology aspect of the class is awesome.
i felt i was ver well prepared for the AP test, and all the critical readings we did for practice were extremely helpful for the SATs
heh I'm actually prepared for the AP test on tuesday
Mr. Paugh is by far the coolest teacher ever, that's all there is to it, even if he does hate Harry Potter.
It's not easy to make English appealing to a bunch of indifferent, dumb students but Mr. Paugh does that.
Mr Paugh-- I love it when you get on your soapbox! Let's watch Better Off Dead soon! That's even better than Slumber Party Massacre !
MR. PAUGH IS AWESOME!! such a cool teacher, love his class
Mr. Paugh is so cool! BUT!!! Last of the Mohicans is not a 'happy-ending' movie...sorry but no.
Mr. Paugh has taught me to delve into literature, and form my own opinions about issues, that previously, i wouldn't have even thought about. Thanks Mr. Paugh!!
Hope he's not getting all these good ratings because he's so easy because I am not at all prepared for 12 AP this year
I like Mr. Paugh. He's a really cool teacher and he is definetly college-professor style. I'm glad he's acknowledging me in class finally, he's been ignoring me since winter break. The class is awesome but sometimes awkward because of all the silence...
I like learning, but I haven't done a whole lot of that this year in his class.
