He is a fantastic teacher. I would not have traded my time in his class for anything. I learned more with him in a year than most do in a lifetime of calculus.
After enduring math in college, I realized how little I learned from Mr. Coate. He doesn't prepare you for college calculus.
Great. Seriously. I'm in engineering now, and I've had plenty of other math profs. He's still the best. Learn what you can in his calc class. He does a good job with explanation and questions. If you have a chance, definitely take BC with him, too. The class is more like a discussion group than a teacher lecturing. You end up really knowing the material from AB and he makes sure you know the stuff from BC, too. Excellent class...the last two really good math classes I've taken (5 more since).
I can't believe anyone who doesn't like this guy. He is very helpful, and is always willing to help out a student. I loved his class and I have no complaints.
Coate is an excellent Calculus teacher. He isn't always clear on the steps to solving a problem, but he will always help if you simply ask.
Coate is the man. I've had him for 2 years, and he is the best math teacher I've ever had. Probably one of the smartest teachers I've ever had.
If you want to know what's going on, you have to approach him on an individual basis and ask questions. You'll learn nothing from the actual class or the book.
Coate is one of those guys that you hate in class but is so cool outside of class.
Mr. Coate is the best! he is an awesome teacher who will do everything to make sure u understand what you're trying to learn. he's a great bball coach too!
Horribly cool, Mr. Coate helps beyond belief. I don't know when he comes it's that early. His class is difficult, it's Calculus, you can't handle it, get out!
sweet teacher, but seems to prefer his basketball players as his students.
If you don't understand math the way he teaches it, you're doomed. He can't explain it to students that don't understand his first explanation.
Genuinely cares about his students and how well thay do. Cool guy!
