Expects a ridiculous amount of work and the class is completely unstructured; however, she is kind to her students and is the most genuine teacher at Pingry.
extremely disorganized/disoriented, but very nice and is willing to help.
the workload for her euro-brit class is nowhere near as bad as I expected, though definitely harder than your typical english class. she has pretty clear expectations, expects you to think critically/think through ideas,
She's tough, and likes longer essays. My writing has definitely improved, though. And she picks great books for the course.
She's a very nice person but I do more work in her class than all my other classes combined. She has super-high expectations, and I don't think I learn toomuch at all. For those who don't like pain, avoid Dineen at all costs.
Classes are geared towards those who have taken her before. She will not spend class time teaching her method of essay writing to new students. You have to visit her to learn
She wastes class time, grades on length, and generally doesn't seem to teach productively. Harknesses were good activities in theory, but never happened. Also, I despise the bboard now.
Assigns a lot of easy "Journals." I really enjoyed her class - lots of class discussions which were fun.
While I learned to tolerate her, her unfortunate personality made her very unpopular, and her expectations were often unreasonably high.
grades papers VERY HARD. the class is quite possibly my most boring class. should be titled "the susan dineen chronicles". but my writing has improved a lot.
She gives way too much work...especially senior year/second semester
Although disorganized, will help you become a wonderful writer. Some bristle at her attempts to inculcate a social consciousness. She's awesome.
A hard class, but you will definitely be better for taking it. Helps with all kinds of writing
