She doesn't seem very knowledgeable and just gets everything from the textbook. Her tests are unnecessarily hard and frequent. This is the first year I'm doing badly in math, and I can't even ask her for help because she doesn't seem like she can actually do anything. Just praying I don't get kicked out of E...
actually seems like a nice person, but she is not a good teacher. her class is boring and taught really poorly. She doesn't seem to understand the material and neither do we but she still gives impossible exams and will totally kick you out of E, so be careful. her tests are so hard and she gives like 1 a month, sometimes before she's even handed back the last one. if you can survive 10E with her, you will slay junior year
She is a pretty good teacher; she teaches a new lesson every day and makes sure that we understand before moving on. They are helpful, even if somewhat dull. She seems to perceive when a student is confused and will help them. However, her tests are too long, considering that we only have a period to complete them. She is very sensitive to lateness, so be sure to get to class on time.
I didn't understand her lessons at all. She only calls on the first people who raise their hands so people who take longer to figure out the problem, never get called on. She never explains anything. I guess she is a nice enough person, but her lessons are badly organized. I did badly in her class last year even though this year I'm getting an A thanks to another teacher.
Ms. Schaindlin made my sophomore year so miserable. For starters it was really hard to stay awake in her class-she drones on and on in the most boring way possible and her voice sounds like the mom in Bob's Burgers. I got the feeling she hadn't altered the curriculum in ~25 years. Her tests were unnecessarily hard and had lots of flashy problems that had little to do with the material. She told my parents I should switch into H. Well, now I luckily no longer have her and am thriving in 11E :)
Agreed. I honestly dread her class as well
i honestly dread her class
She makes sure no kid gets left behind. She is more for kids who aren't so familiar with math. She helps everyone at their own pace. she can sometimes be boring, but is pretty helpful.
Ms. Schaindlin was a okay teacher. She taught math well and effectively, but the class was only geared to about 4 or 5 students who were below average in the class in terms of math. Her math class is somewhat boring, and it is easy to space out. It is important to participate a lot if you want to get a lot out of this class. She is very strict on her somewhat easy tests. Using a creative method on problems will guarantee a loss of points.
Ms. Schaindlin is so helpful, really nice, and cares about her students doing well. I'm really lucky to have her as a teacher this year! Her tests are challenging, but all doable. Only downside is that she's pretty uncompromising about grades -- she doesn't round up (so a 92.9 is an A-, not an A), etc.
she feeds us info we need to know.
Great teacher. Just do your homework... She always explains everything great and always helps students, even after class or for tutoring. Not the best, but still a really really really great teacher.
I thought she was a bit boring last year when I had her, but now I (and most of my classmates) appreciate her SO MUCH more because she prepares you very well for tests and the final, and teaches clearly. 9H kids, watch out. 10H teachers suck.
I like her! She's so helpful and I appreciate the tempo of her class. She does check HW but you would do it in any other class so what's the problem? People don't understand that you go to a hard school so your classes are going to be harder. It's not her fault that math is hard, she still tries really hard to explain it. Don't blame your own laziness on her just because she's tough.
She's really smart and explains things clearly. You're lucky if you have her because her class prepares you well for finals. Class can be really boring and homework is almost always checked.
she is very knowledgeable, and always has great ways to think about math and shows things in multiple ways! Also, she doesn't actually check hw but you should still do it b/c 1) it really helps 2) she calls randomly on ppl to answer questions. She's kinda like your average math teacher.
She is ok. She feeds us information like she's supposed to, I guess... Her classes are not very interesting and are monotonous.
She's my math teacher, and even though my whole class pretty much hates her, I think she's okay. She's fun sometimes...even though she gets scary when you're late or didn't do your homework.
She's a teacher that is nice and can explain things, but she isn't one of those teachers who make you feel homey. Nice, but shouldn't someone so old be retired?
i like math, but she makes it boring and talks really slowly. she doesnt teach much so im not really sure how people would find here helpful
LOVE HER! SHE'S REALLY NICE AND A GOOD TEACHER. I UNDERSTAND MATH MORE NOW <3 <3
Pretty average overall, her lessons are fairly informative, she's reasonably nice, I guess she's boring, but there's not too much to complain about.
shes an okay teacher but she takes forever to explain things and is always really uptight all of the time. I don't think we've once done anything non-math in class. And also she lets us out late every day.
Ms. S is very nice and helpful and clear and I am never lost in her class. However, I personally find math boring so her class isn't my favorite.
Whenever my hands are up, she ignores me. As soon as I sleep, she picks on me.
omg nicest teacher i EVER HAD! i love her so much :) really helpful and sweet
I have her now :-(. She calls on people who don't have their hands raised and she picks favorites, and she doesn't review material enough. HATE HER
I sat right in front of her, and it was so boring I couldn't help but fall asleep. This is what happens when you're on the ridge between E and H. And if you have her in 9th and you want to take the E test at the end of the year, double check with her and don't end up like me.
While Ms. Schaindlin's class is often a bit tedious for those who are better at math, she is very helpful to those who are not as good at math, but who want to improve. She isn't always too motivating, but if you pay attention then you will learn everything on the curriculum. One thing I cannot stress enough is to come prepared and to do your homework EVERY day for the first semester. She usually dislikes kids who don't come prepared early on for the rest of the year.
incredibly boring and stubborn. decent teacher, though.
She made FIVE people cry. She doesn't teach right now and nobody's grades are improving. She needs to go faster, but make things more clear. On tests, she puts problems with stuff we haven't learned. She LAUGHS at students when they get problems wrong. Lastly, she doesn't curve grades. Everybody got 80s on this one test and like, one person got an 100. She's like, "you guys should have looked in the textbook."
I don't remember anything she did that was particularly helpful, but she was clear. I didn't mind her classes at all.
I hate math now. I used to be good at it. Now? I hate it.
Wicked hard tests man! They are very tricky and sometimes based on topics not learned in class, but were "applied." Her study sheets are not at all helpful. She should really make them more specific!!
She's not so bad. Whenever someone has a question, she stops and expains it. She does go a little fast, though
She's ok, she's boring, she moves on to things a bit quickly, but she really knows what she's talking about and you can learn a ton
She is a very good math teacher, and always explains things well when someone doesn't understand something. She is very helpful and nice.
Her calss is abit boring, but she's helpful and a good math teacher.
ms. schaindlin is nice enough . . . good teacher . . . boring class . . . then again, when is math not boring . . . she says that the problems are fun, but they're not.
SO BORING!! "Oh, I should answer my phone, that could be my daughter." I fell asleep so many times during her class.
wow, you guys are harsh. But, it is very boring, like you said, coma-inducing class. And her tests are WAY math-team hard. But she explains clearly.
I've fallen asleep multiple times in this class. Boringboringboringboring.
although she tries, shes pretty vague, and she goes a little to fast. she never explained when i had questions. i suppose she is patient, but it doesnt help if she wont explain. shes not the best.
She's not he best teacher, but she's very clear and she doesn't get mad easily- I think you guys are being too harsh. Shen knows what she's talking about and she's patient.
coma-inducing class. she's living on another planet- she didnt notice when my friend started moisturizing her legs. explained things well but it was SO BORING- always answered her phone in class. ugh
sooooooo........boring........can't.....stay......awake......during.....class she also puts things we went over only once in class on finals so we fail
Has abosolutely no clue what shes talking about. You know the episode of the simpsons where Lisa stels the teachers manuals? Well she would be the first person to start panicking. Even with a textbook id pick a monkey over her. And yet where does she go off grading so harshly? Constantly late as well. Everyone takes the 6 Ms. Schaindlin! Yet somehow shes the only one delayed...
She's probably one of the worst teachers I've had at Hunter. She is not well-informed in math at all. She is a horrible teacher, and very vague.
She's really boring but explains things pretty clearly. I still wish I didn't have her, though.
She's really nice and if you ask her for help she'll help you. And she explains clearly in class, too. But she is a bit boring, and she always seems depressed, and it kind of rubs off on you when you're sitting there and it's your first class of the day and you're trying to figure out if it's going to be a good day or not. The tests are very fair though, there aren't any surprises.
Kinda frustrating when you figure out new/cool approaches to math faster than the teacher.
SOOOO BOOOORING and never explains anything. I think shes a zombie. i used to LIKE math!!!!!
In 7th grade, she inspired me to take the E-math test because of how boring she was. Now that I'm in 9th-grade E-math, she's just as bad, but because of her un-clearness. I've gone from an A student to, like, C.
B.O.R.I.N.G...She knows her stuff really well, just she has a condescending act towards some students. Even so, most of the time she doesn't clarify her statements. But seriously, she's picky, she has a her way, and she wants it THAT way.
She laughs at her own jokes, like I'm doing right now. Not the best teacher, but, well, better than none.
Really boring, but she explains stuff really clearly. She isn't the best, but I'll give her a 2 out of 5.
Shes nice n she'll help u but shes so BORING! she moves so slowli n just talks n talks. shes not funni @ all, she laughes @ her own jokes. n i sit rite in front! but she's nice..
She's okay, I learn stuff, but she always holds us late (we have her last period tues, thurs, fri, and right before lunch on weds)
A great math teacher if you want to learn about math. I do, so it's great how she moves at such a fast pace, and doesn't stop to joke around although she has a sense of humor.
She's pretty clear and terribly nice, but kind of dull. Very fair, she picks favorites but doesn't grade based on that.
She's a GREAT math teacher, she's clear and if you like math like me then her classes are interesting...if you don't well sucks for you, not her problem
She was so boring and very unhelpful when it came to explaining things.... i forgot everything we learned.
once i stayed for two hours to go over a problem i couldn't understand and she went over it with me. she's very nice outside of class, too.
she teaches at a very slow pace, but somehow is still unclear. also, her tests often have problems that youre not familiar with.
she's boring and unclear, but says hi to me in hallways-nice...
clear, but so slow i used to fall asleep in class. i mean, when everybody starts to pass out with boredom, you should go faster! she makes you feel so nervous!
She's evil! She took off 12 points on a question she never taught us, and it made me fail the test. =(
Worst math teacher in Hunter. Very condescending.. makes fun of students at times. Not funny. Boring. Tests sorta hard. Kissack should teach her how to teach.
She's pretty clear in class, even though it's all pretty boring. Also, she's pretty condescending. =(
She is a reely good teacher and explains everything well,
I like her. She's very clear and explains everything very well. Although sometimes the classes may be very slow, if you follow along you should understand
She gets mad much too easily, and cannot tolerate failure. While that may seem to be good, as it forces you to do well, it isn't.
She seems to assume that everything goes right over the students' heads and needs to be explained five or six times. She should move at a much faster pace.
i had her in 7th grade n got like a c so i thought i was stupid but in 8th grade i had mr hankin best teacher n had like an A average she was jus a bad teacher
shes a very nice person but hr voice needs change sometimes and we need to do different stuff each day...it rox that we know hu puts up what hw cuz only do urs
she's decent. but bland sort of because her classes are such a never-changing routine. booooring. but she teachers clearly.
overall i like her even though i'm not doing well in her class. she grades solely on tests so it's tougher but she's a really nice person.
She teaches slowly but she really makes sure that we understand everyhing and cover everything.
