Theresa is a teacher who isn't able to clarify on anything you ask her in class. She can never give you an exact answer for why she gave you a bad grade and she rarely stays consistent in her grading. I've waited since the start of the school year to get a paper graded and just recently received it back. Multiple friends of mine have also waited but when they asked she said she would get it to them soon...they are still waiting. If you get stuck in her class... transfer fast!
She likes to have power in class, if she doesn't like you she will openly talk about you to another class. She cannot ever seem to make a coherent reason as to why she grades so inconsistently. She will wait for a long time to grade papers and is known for losing them in the piles of paper that she has on her desk. Sometimes she will use humiliation to try and keep students in line and often likes to generalize you and how you act in class. This is a warning to those in her class.
Theresa Martin was extremely kind and knowledgeable in my experience in Advanced American Literature. There was no doubt in regard to her experience as a teacher; she shaped every facet of the term paper experience to help us learn from the experience! She talked about Harvard, but she was also more than willing to talk to kids about their own college aspirations. She even had a chat with one of my friends lauding his choice to go to community college. Just a great human being and educator.
I wish we'd learned something in this class. Mostly I read books and talked about my feelings. It just wasn't as educational as I expected from an Advanced English course.
Extremely intelligent and well-read, which are requisite characteristics in a good English teacher. After having her for three semesters, my only complaint is her occasional lack of focus. But even that can be spun positively--she always has tons of ideas ready for discussion with students. She frequently tries to help less-than-stellar students succeed, even those who are utterly disorganized and do not come to class. You won't meet many nice or more knowledgeable teachers.
It's 2012. She doesn't know how to work a computer. She posted quarter grades, with scoring errors.
Horrible classes. I don't think she should be teaching anybody, anything.
Great teacher. She has tought me alot about writing and the Science Fiction class was very fun. Too bad this school will no longer have these classes, just basic english.
She is a bit spacey-but she is a writer so that's understandable. But sometimes I have no idea what she's talking about.
Ms. Martin rules. You get out of her classes what you try to get out of your classes. She's funny, too. Quirky.
she grades harshly for no reason except for the fact that she's bored!!
i think you are the worst teacher i have had all year. and im in your seminar class. how hard is that to be nice? STOP HAVING POWER TRIPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Really cares about how her students think about the material and that they learn. Cares so much that she can be a bit of a pushover.
Ms. Martin is a bit of a flake, but as long as you stay off of her bad side, things will go smoothly. Don't expect to have your work graded for content. As long as you're organized and turn in the homework, it will be all good.
