I had Mr. Schurtz for 10th grade honors English. He's the best teacher I have ever had. His class is difficult, but you'll get decent grades if you just do the work. He has a sense of humor that some find offending because he can be very blunt and harsh at times. He really cares about his students though. I wasn't doing my work and he pushed me to tell him why. He's a great listener and he really wants to see his students succeed. He tends to favor the kids he coaches, but he's still great.
I had Schurtz two years ago for an AP English 12 course and can I just tell you he can SERIOUSLY teach English. As an Secondary Education major with hopes of becoming an English teacher, he really helped me overcome any problems I had and improved my note-taking skills infinitely. He's a cool guy, and although hard to reach sometimes, he's a HUGE help one-on-one. Get over his ego, it's a false facade that he enjoys using to avoid favoritism.
He's a good teacher but he is a relatively rude person with somewhat of an ego problem. He does however know how to make you better in Engish
has the biggest ego in the world. He is totally in love with himself. only likes people who are into theatre the rest he ignores.
I had him his first year teaching at UM. Hardest English class I ever took but definitely the most worthwhile. I STILL remember stuff from his class and it's been about 10 years...
Not that great a teacher - and though he's amusing sometimes, not that great a person either. His class annoyed me. Whatever.
He's completely different then the rest of the English department. At least he helped my test-taking skills.
Has a tough exterior but is very caring; a terrific director. He leads engaging discussions in class, but doesn't teach to the AP test- low scores.
do whatever you have to do in order to take his class you'll make it through life without it but you couldn't write A+ papers in 30 min for an Ivy League school
He's too involved in other things to give enough attention. He needs a lesson in civility and needs to get some manners.
he "doesn't care about you", but your writing will vastly improve over the course of his class. he doesn't care if you like him... he'll just say "badahdah"
he comes off scary and hard, but the class ends up being interesting, fun and even worthwhile!!
Mr. Schurtz is funny in the same way that oranges are funny.
