Don't be fooled at the beginning of the year by his 'easygoing' appearance - he is nothing like that; rather, he is way too oversensitive. If anything goes wrong in your class, expect him to cross his arms in his brown chair and make butthurt/sarcastic remarks for the remainder of the period. Furthermore, he is quite intolerable of beliefs that differ from his own. Try it in TOK: share some beliefs which he does not agree with, and note how quick he is to dismiss them.

Quite good English teacher, rather lenient when it comes to school rules, but a stickler for deadlines. This is from an IB student. I cannot comment on his quality as a ToK teacher, but he is probably better than Morrison, though also harder.

I love Mr. Carstenn. He helped me through a really difficult time in high school and a big inspiration for me. I don't think I've met a person yet that hasn't liked him. He's definitely worth sticking around for.

I was fortunate to have had Todd Carstenn for English Honors over 20 years ago at LWHS. I've since finished college with 2 degrees under my belt. I can still say, to this day, that Mr. Carstenn is by far the best English teacher I have ever had in my life. He opened up a new world of reading for me years ago and that appreciation of reading has stayed with me all my life.
