From previous rating, "He took the life we all thought we understood, had us throw it up in the air and watch it shatter above us." Please grow up. He worked a Barlow for 40 years, what does he know about getting a job, keeping a job or losing a job because of the economy. Good luck getting a job with your skills from his class. But if you got an A because you made him think you loved it and learned a lot, well, that skill will take you far.
The bad rating of easiness is a positive rating. He challenged students to expand beyond what they ever thought they could. He believed in everyone no matter what; he looked at his students and did not judge them for what he saw, but listened to them and encouraged them to keep searching for deeper meanings in their life. He took the life we all thought we understood, had us throw it up in the air and watch it shatter above us. He taught me how to be a student and for that I am forever greatful.
He acts like he knows everything. I pretended that he does and got a good grade. Did I learn anything?
one of the best teachers i ever had. makes you think in a very special way, makes you understand the world better. his classes opened my mind.
by far the best teacher i have ever had the pleasure of dealing with; both as a student and as a preservice teacher. i will strive to make my classroom as similar to his as possible
awesome teacher. he makes you think and even though it doesnt seem like your learning english in his class, you are. you just have to really think and see where he's going with his ideas. amazing man.
Hes great, he makes you think in the most unique and interesting teacher. he makes you think in new and creative ways. and everything he taught me stuck with me.
to succeed, you must think abstractly, out of the box. There is no formula, NO regurgitation to do well. But, if you think, you will have an amazing experience and learn loads.
Mr. Kilbourne is a great guy, he is nice and well educated. His class may be difficult at times but if you open your eyes and ears you will understand what he is trying to say.
he's a nice enough guy, but i want to learn english, not the meaning of life.
DO NOT TAKE KILBOURN T. VERY CONFUSING. Gives IMPOSSIBLE concepts, you must understand it HIS way and ONLY his way! He spilled a glass of water for a question.
I had him for Inquiry and it was the best English class I have taken. I didn't find him hard to understand at all.
Mr. Kilbourn makes you think. Realy. It is frustrating to have no idea what he is talking about, but then click! You have to have the experience of Kilbourn.
Mr. Kilbourn will hurt your brain...but I like it. Others do not. He is one of the few teachers who actually teaches. I approve.
awesome class, people just hate it cause he makes you think. He's up there with the best teachers i have ever had.
Not your normal English class. Be prepared to not understand anything, even after you take the final. Good discussions, but he never directly answers questions.
The most rewarding B I have ever recieved. One second you know nothing, then the next you finally get it, and you know you did it yourself. Very rewarding.
Too philosophical. No one understands anything he says. EVER!!!
nice person but class is so confusing, it isnt english class its more like a "making you feel stupid" class.
An enigma. His classes defy a finite rubric. He breaks his own rules set for the rest of the English department. He puts grades on abstract thoughts.
I don't care what others say about him. Out of all the teachers I had at Barlow I rank him #1 far and way. He has changed my life. Phenominal teacher.
His class should be a philosophy class, not an English class. I hated it.
