Vining is the best teacher I've ever had. Period.
I had the pleasure of having Mr. Vining as my Physics teacher back in the Spring of 2001. Based on my life experience, the people that have not given him a positive review probably lack the life experience necessary to make such a judgment. Some may say he's initially intimidating... well, that's part of the act. This is a guy that cares more about you than he ought to; and he probably doesn't even know you yet. Listen to him and learn from him. Even if it seems hard.
Frankly, this guy has given me another reason to live. Although his class is difficult, it's physics. It's gonna be hard. But Vining, as a person, is one of the most exceedingly genuine, kind-hearted dudes out there. He'll try to trick you with those cheesy dad T-shirts and that angry twinkle in his eye, but he's dependable. If you need help, ASK. A thirst for understanding and the ability to remember it is all you need to succeed in this class. Good luck!
Sorry for the poor rating. However, at the start of the freshmen year, I was so confused about the metric measurement and the sig figs. He talked too fast and was way way WAY too complicated the way he explained and I was confused like this for the rest of the freshmen year. This year, my sophomore year, my science teacher taught the class one day on metric measurement and another day on sig figs and I nailed it immediately. He needs to slow his lecture down, and I mean SERIOUSLY.
Vining made Freshman year physics incredibly fun. I loved him and looked forward to his class every day. He is an amazing guy and he genuinely cares about his students, although he loves to joke around. Don't be intimidated and do your work. READ THE TEXTBOOK and listen to everything he says, ask questions. Vining is amazing and hilarious.
Mr. Vining is one of the best teachers I've ever encountered. He's knowledgable and supportive in the field. From taking freshman physics to physics club for four years with him - he is dedicated to helping better students. His classes are tough, but they help you prepare for college. Great guy with a quirky attitude! If you get the chance, take Vining's class.
vining will forever have my heart. funniest teacher ive ever had. made me love physics. debating taking astrophysics so i can have him again. intimidating at first, but overall he is harmless. if you get picked on it means he likes you, nicknames are even better. best teacher ive had at dm. HIGHLY RECOMMEND TAKING PHYSICS AS A FRESHMAN JUST TO EXPERIENCE VINING. forever my favorite teacher.
Best physics teacher ever!!! Pay attention and use the textbook=A in his class
Excellent teacher. I love physics because of him. Overall, he is one of the best teachers I have ever had because he opened my mind to a new subject that I knew nothing about. In the beginning of the year, he told us to forget what we have already learned and start questioning why things work as they are and why are they not something else. In other words, he closed our eyes in order for us to see. Physics would not be as enjoyable if it was not for him.
AWESOME. I learned so much from him that year. Yes, it was a hard class, but physics in general is hard and he teaches it very well. He's a little intimidating, but he's always available to help you. Deep down, he's a big teddy bear and genuinely cares about everyone. He makes fun of stupid people, so I was the butt of most of his jokes, but I can take it. Don't be too sensitive. You're in high school, so don't be whiny. Honestly, this class will prep you so much for college and he's amazing.
He's such an awesome teacher and really knows his stuff. he enjoys messing with freshman and seems like he's scary at first. but he's actually really nice and even sweet. if your gonna take freshman fizx with his, don't be scared and banter with him. he likes that.
Mr. Vining is easily the best teacher I've ever had. He really knows how to simplify everything down and knows a lot about what he's teaching. He's extremely dedicated; he offers his time before and after school every day to help out students. He's pretty lenient too. If you're a dedicated student and have a willingness to learn, he will like you. I'm even considering taking Astrophysics senior year just so I can have him as a teacher again. He's great.
Vining is the best!!! He's extremely helpful and teaches you a ton. He can be intimidating at first, but he is a great guy and really wants his students to succeed
Good guygood teacherjust a little hardto follow at times
Mr. Vining is the best teacher ever! His class was hard, but I learned a ton. As long as you aren't a pineapple, he's great.
Mr. Vining was my favorite teacher freshman year! His class is hard, but it was so much fun and I learned a lot. He's a great teacher, he seems a little scary at first but hes actually really nice.
Love love love! i have learned SO much this year.He might come off as intimidating but he's a big softie
Awesome teacher. Very intimidating but a great guy, even though he is not the most likeable teacher, he is a very likeable person.
Awesome teacher! Intimidating at first, but fun to joke around with. He likes brownies (but apparently not my brownies)!
vining! hilarious to joke with, not the greatest teacher or easiest class but once you finish your year with him, definitely go visit him. He's much more fun to talk to outside of class.
such a unique teacher <3 amazing experience... ull really get to know physics!
My favorite teacher, ever! He's intimidating at first, the class is hard to completely grasp, but he's definitely very helpful when asked. I had an amazing experience in this science class.
might be intimidating at first but he's fine IMO. just don't take him too seriously or talk a lot!
one of the hardest classes i have ever taken but still fun and he takes some getting used to because he has a very... unique personality
Really hard, but if you do your work you will understand. Just be ready for the FEC. :D
I took his class hoping to learn lots because i had heard such great things about him, but he was by far one of the worst and laziest teachers i have ever had. kind of a disappointment
man did he freak me out the first week of school. I thought I would hate him at first but by the end of the year he was one of my favorite teachers. he is pretty funny but nobody will admit it.
Very hard teacher, but I've learned so much with him, hes a great teacher for learning and a friend (helps you out when your not enrolled in his class usually)
vining is the man. funny, friendly, and laid back class, but you still learn SO much. he's really helpful. best teacher i've had in my life, no questions asked.
He is an ok teacher is the most paranoid man about tardies. Literally anything (even in seconds) after the bell he will count you tardy
He is the best teacher I have had at this school. Although the course is hard he makes sure that you understand it. He always has some wierd clip to show you. He is the coolest.
Good teacher, knows what he's doing. You're dead though if you take his sense of humor seriously.
vinings a chill teacher if u dont take his jokes serious you will be okay. extremly hard class though but it is worth it you actually use this stuff in real life.. ur tight vining
He's a really good teacher. He puts you under some pressure when it comes to labs during class. But other than that, he's pretty fair.
If you don't get his sense of humor, you're in for a world of pain. He knows his stuff and is a great teacher. Makes you discover things for yourself. Teaches hard classes!
He prepared me for college the most. Very fair teacher. If you show him that youre trying, he will help you. He teaches concepts, and thats what physics is, but you do have to work very hard!
He's an interesting guy with a sarcastic sense of humor. He's actually very nice. You can't just memorize your way through his class, you must understand the concepts to do well.
Anyone who doesn't see this is the best teacher at DMHS is just bitter because he doesn't hand out grades. Put in a little effort and show you care and he'll reward you for it!
Best teacher ever!!!! Learned a lot in his class.. Not entirely easy, but if you work on it hard enough you can succeed... Would love to have him as a professor
great sense of humour, his classes are never boring exactly, but best when they are off and not on the fixed curriculum.
By far my favorite high school teacher. Very sarcastic, funny, and outgoing. Always willing to help - the most effective teacher I've ever had. No busy work! A+
Awesome Teacher. Lots of fun stuff to do. Sarcasm is great, when not directed at me. He kind of grows on you.
Trys to be funny but really isn't. Shows way too many movies in class. He is OK, but not great.
Good teacher although I would rather him teach some days instead of showing videos.
I really liked both Physics and Astrophysics, and Vining almost always knew what he was talking about ;). His sarcastic humor was great when not focused at me
There is no such thing as a completion grade with this teacher so he grades pretty hard. You may hate him for this but he grows on you.
He's one of the best teachers I've had at Desert Mountain. He's really funny and intelligent! Everyone should have him as a teacher, or they are missing out. He really knows his stuff!
His condescening nature is daunting at first, but prove you're intelligent and he'll respect you. My only gripe is that some kids BOUGHT their grade (supplies).
He isn't that bad but you have to have a thick skin to deal with his extreme sarcasm. the class is tough so work hard. sometimes he makes U feel dumb.
He's a LIAR. I was the only one to suggest that perpetual motion was not occuring in the classroom. but i did believe about metric time. The fec is fake!
he's cool but believe me, he really likes breakfast in the morning so don't be tardy
His Multiple choice tests seem easy but you realize they are tricky after the scores come back. Don't let him fool you with his sarcasm.
If you can make it past his stinging sarcasm, he's actually a pretty cool guy. Its a pretty tough class but if you work on it you shouldn't have too much troubl
