What a unique website. Providing students and school communities with the
opportunity to rate their teachers. It is so important that such an
objective and unbiased approach to judjing teachers is available. How else
does this modern world enable us to give feedback. It is so good that it
can be anonymous so we can say what we think. Because none of us would have
the courage to share our feelings or thoughts in any other way - that would
be far too humane and mature. Its important that as students growing to be
future citizens of our world that we are encouraged by this fantastic
website to develop those qualities of narrow mindedness, vindictiveness,
injustice and dishonesty. Thank you for allowing me and so many other
students throughout the world the opportunity to bring down the good name
of other human beings.

By allowing anonymity to students you are encouraging inacurate comment and
allowing a disaffected student to post highly inaccurate information and
comment. That merely leads to a siyuation where a caustic student can
cause great damage. You are also a party to libel by publishing such
comment.

you need to verify the accuracy of comment to provide a balanced and
useful service.

Otherwise, you are merely a system fo allowing abuse - not much of a
credit.

I love this website so much! I think it is so nice to rate teachers without
the worry of them knowing who put that rating! Thank you RMT! =)

I am a math teacher and think your site is good. I am sorry some people
hate it. Those that hate it are probably bad teachers that don't want to be
found out! LOL Anyways-- thanks again!!

I understand that in these times we are all looking for ways to raise
revenue but unfortunately this whole "unlocked" idea is genuinely
ridiculous. Don't you make enough money with the ads that show on your
site. I think this is a great resource for students to voice their ideas
and for parents and educators alike to be aware of what their children
think. I don't think anyway should have to pay for that kind of input or
exchange.

Never shut this site down. I wish it existed when i was at school. I read
the teachers at Sutton Grammar don't like it. I went to Sutton Grammar a
few years ago and personally faced rascism and bullying from teachers. And
if the teacher's bullying you who do you go to for help? This site finally
gives students a voice.

Whoa, the anger here. Maybe some teachers need to get a little feedback once in a while in a forum where students aren't frozen in fear. Most of the teachers I had growing up were mean and insensitive to kids and I think it's about time they heard about it. It's amazing how high the ratings are for teachers that simply show a little courtesy and humanity in the way they deal with young people. I think this site is great!!!

I was made aware of this website by student stating how some people are
speaking very rudely about teachers. Having sparked my curiosity, I looked
up Spearfish High School and did find some very negative comments mixed in
with positive comments toward teachers.
Now, I realize that posts can be made about any teacher by anyone on any
given website. But considering your website as a future credible website
for administrators to evaluate teachers is absurd. I noticed that some of
the comments were made by people admitting they hadn't had the teacher but
make comments on how the teacher dresses, looks, talks etc.
With potentially new parents and students looking at schools and reading
this website prior, a student will already have a negative outlook on
teachers before they enter the classroom with the teacher.
I feel that a website such as Rate My Teachers should have never been
created for this specific purpose. Real honesty comes in face-to-face
conversations called parent teacher conferences and student reviews.
As a valued member of my community and very closely tied with our local
school board, I hope your website fails and surely hope you never become a
part of any school/teacher review/performance evaluation as you have no
credibility other than setting your sights on money at a teachers expense.

I refuse to become a MEMBER to your website which is why I am writing in
this section!

I just want to add my voice to the hundreds who have already pointed out
the gross injustice of a publicly accessible forum that allows vindictive
students to post hateful and hurtful comments about specific teachers
without proof, without consequence, and -- most disturbing -- with complete
anonymity. How is that teachers can be singled out by name and accused of
being incompetent by individuals who are free to say whatever they please
(no doubt sometimes in the context of a personal vendetta) while
withholding their own identities? Why is there no opt-out function for
teachers? Should not teachers in fact be asked to *opt in*? Why do
teachers, who are already notoriously overworked, underpaid, and
underfunded, need to be subjected to yet another headache?

I find it hard to believe this site hasn't been shut down by now -- that
it can continue to exist as an example of anonymous "free speech." It's
clear from most of the comments I've read that I am not the only person
with a sense of common decency, social propriety, and fairness who
recognizes this site for what it is -- not only a waste of time and space
but also, and more sobering, a frightening glimpse into an irresponsible
future in which negativity can be freely directed and reputations tarnished
without the slighest consequence in a public forum. Fortunately few people
appear to give this site credence. But if this isn't a wake-up call telling
us it's time to revisit our legal system so that atrocities like this (and
those who perpetrate them) can be held accountable, then I don't know what
is. Let's do what we can to bring about this necessary change.

As a very secure and highly respected veteran (I could fill up a few pages
with stats and general information about my unique accomplishments in
service to my children) I find this site both a forum for cheap slander and
a sad way of puffing up the reputation of people the profession would be
better off without. May I make a simple suggestion? No ball player with 50
at bats and a .400 batting average will win the MVP award, but you post
ratings on PEOPLE, not digital cameras, based on a s little as one
evaluation! Ten to twenty should be the minimum range for any posting for
the sake of semblance of decency, if not accuracy. The site is risible at
best. John Pellicciaro, East New York High School of Transit Technology,
