I've heard that she's not good if you have her for regents biology, but i had her for ap bio and she's amazing. Her teaching style can take a while to get used to (its very discussion based), but once you do it's not hard to excel in her class. She's a very sweet person who genuinely cares about her students, even after they graduate. Hers was the only class that I genuinely looked forward to.
Ms Wijesinghe is my favorite teacher at Laguardia HS. She is very nice to ma and I love our class. I look forward coming to science everyday because she always has something interesting to teach! Ms Wijesinghe inspires me everyday to get 100 and I am studying hard for regents exam now to get 100. I will be so sad next year when I don't have Ms W :( Hopefully I will have her for AP Biology =) Thank you so much Ms Wijesinghe!!!
She told me mono wasn't contagious and that schizophrenia was. She clearly shows favorites even though some of the ones she favors are poor students. She makes me sit in a corner alone because I didn't understand what she was saying (because of her accent) and didn't put my pencil case away. I honestly do not think she is a good teacher and she barely develops the lessons. Sitting in her class in the equivalent of reading a text book because she teaches with no insight. I am not fond of her.
My absolute favorite class of the day is biology when I have Ms Wijesinghe. She has truly inspired me and opened my eyes to science. Thank you so much Ms W and like you say you love coming to work every morning to teach us, I love coming to your class! From a very appreciative student.
Great Biology teacher with a passion for science. She teaches at a very high level and expects students to do their best in class. Anyone who has her will be tremendously prepared by the end of the year and should also have a passion for learning about science. Overall she is a very nice person and devoted mentor.
I love her. She says some pretty hilarious things. It's true that she speaks quietly, but I am at the back of the class and it's okay. Be sure to keep up throughout the year, and it's all good!
She's very nice, and a very good teacher. Class should not be first period.
talks too quiet so very often its difficult to understand what she's saying
DONT DO STUPID THINGS, no one can fool her. try to act more mature than you really are. if she loves you, it wil be an easy semester or year. no matter what, one has to work hard in her class 'cause she teaches like a professor, indeed she was one. by the way, I LOVE her recommendation!
I love her accent~! Really makes an effort for us. She is so thoughtful and kind. I moved to another school and she called my new biology teacher and gave a good word about me.
Just show up, smile, and keep you eyes open and she'll give you a 95. Make your group projects colorful and pretty and she'll give you a 99. What more could you want?
Do the homework, be genuinely interested in her class and come to class and she'll write you a fabulous recommendation. Very gifted former college professor.
swedish... are you kidding, she is Sri Lanken. Tip to all that enter her class: do the HW pretty and you will get 95's, it worked for me :)
very encouraging. yeah sometimes she is a bit confusig sometimes, but is overall a good teacher
i duno-she was cool-hard to understand and she didnt give me a good grade because i was sick for like a week and she sed i was excessively absent! yeah ok!
YOU GUYS! she's INDIAN. OMG... anyway. she's a hardworking teacher but most of the stuff she taught in class, i already knew
she can teach BUT I JUST CANT FREAKING HEAR HER, SHE WHISPERS!!! I MEAN TALK LOUDER HEAVENS
A VERY smart teacher, pay attention to what she says in class. and she is from Sri Lanka.
