Mr. Cannon changed my life. I still use today so many things that he taught me. I can still hear his voice when I'm re-writing. "Some judicious pruning is needed here". Mr. Cannon nurtured and encouraged my raw talent. Today, I write for the stage and screen and it is all due to Mr. Cannon's infectious passion and love for the english language. He is, by far, the best teacher I ever had!
I took Mr. Cannon's class in the 80's. To this day, he remains for me one of the few teachers from whom I learned something that I would take with me and use throughout life. I am not referring to a specific process such as diagramming sentences or memorizing parts of speech. It was developing an ear for the English language. Writing and editing until you have found the perfect words. It was in his class that I gained confidence in my ability to write, and decided that it was important.
He is impossible and whenever I asked him for help her gave me vague answers. Everyone works their assess off and gets B-'s. I learned almost nothing but how top accept bad grades. The class is boring and unproductive. We did nothing all year and it freaking sucked.
Entering this year I was terrified of taking his class; he had a legacy of being the most difficult English teacher at Gonzaga. However, I soon learned how incredible of a teacher he is and how he's simply a great person. DO NOT shy away from taking his class; work hard and you'll do fine, but even if you don't get the grades you want, you'll still learn to become one of the best writers in your grade. Hail Rick.
One of the most influential teachers I've ever had (even thru grad school). Didn't realize it at the time, but his course and the texts he used (Links & a thesauraus) gave me the skills to excel in nearly every aspect of life. I've received numerous compliments over the decades on my vocabulary, grammar, and proficiency in writing by professors, colleagues, clients, girlfriends, etc.; and I owe it all to him. Can't praise him enough!
Rick Cannon taught at Gonzaga in the mid/late 80's. It was in his class that I first appreciated poetry and was given the opportunity to write with no rules or limits which was intimidating but my work was embarrassed, critiqued, but never judged.
Mr. Cannon is an extraordinary teacher. I'll never forget what he's taught me :)
Best Teacher i ever had, not an easy class thouhg ;)
Best teacher you will have in your life, hands down guarantee. In college now writing 12 page A paper in 2 hours cus of him. Mr. Cnnon is the shiznat
Best teacher I've ever had, he got me into college. His class is hard, but only because of the amount of time you have to invest, not the concepts.
Best teacher I had in either high school or college. I'm a professional writer now, and I owe it all to Mr. Cannon. Rock on, Rick!
The best teacher I had in High School. He taught me to write, and I now do so better than anyone I know. The class was tough, but anyone willing to do enough work can get an A.
Best teacher I've ever had. Taught me to write ten years ago, and now I'm a professional writer. It's all due to him. Wish everyone were so good. Everyone isn't.
He is really hard, but I'm starting to understand how to rewrite a lot, at the end of the 2nd quarter :)
One of the best teachers at Gonzaga. Not easy, but worth it.
Some kids do not take Mr. Cannon because they think his class is hard. TAKE HIM!!! 1 of 2 BEST TEACHERS I HAD AT GONZAGA!!!SUPER GUY and a super stud also!
Great guy. He teaches his regular class like an AP class, but you walk away knowing how to write. One of the best teachers I've ever had.
He was a good teacher. Liked his class-1980's, he was easy to get along with. Links was useful.
He rocks. He can be a bit tough on grades but he gives you the chance to make it up. He is the best teacher I have ever had and one that I will always remember.
