I graduated in 2000 and was not exactly the most stellar student in high school. Mr. Leighly somehow saw the light in me and was my champion. He wrote me the most wonderful letter of recommendation to get into college, which I still have. I remember his encouraging words to this day as I make my way through my doctorate program. I would have never made it this far if it wasn't for teachers like Leighly who got me to think in a critical way!
