This man is amazing. He's experienced so much, it blows my mind. This well roundedness makes an especially qualified Social Sciences and World History teacher. I would HIGHLY recommend asking him as many questions as possible. His knowledge is a treasure. I wish I would have him again. He is a walking storybook.

Try wait till you're a senior before evaluating Peer. All the crazy stuff he talks about - going off topic for example - is stuff you will come across as you go through life and then you will thank him for it. I remember thinking who is this guy? and by my senior year so much of that world civilizations class made sense. Most freshman, including me, think we know it all when we finish 9th. try wait ! experience life a little.....

Whoa! which class of Mr. Peers were you in? I talked with my friends who took his class and none had a similar experience. You must have been in a class last year because we didn't have news summaries, but we did talk about the real world a lot - and not stuff that is in the textbook that you can read anytime. Too bad you have to rip a solid teacher. Maybe you're carrying a grudge for a poor grade. Sorry.

Mr. Peer was literally the worst social studies teacher. All of his curriculum comes off of YouTube videos that he just plays for the class. Your grade is literally just comprised of your news summaries and map tests. Goes off topic alot. He also came 15 MINUTES LATE to our class and said he had a meeting in Waipahu before just excusing us because he didn't seem to have anything planned...Other times, he just talks story...You'd think Punahou would quality control their teachers better for 21k.

Mr. peer was a great teacher. He really knows what he's talking about. I learned so much every class. He's on of the must knowledgable people i've ever met. To all you people who thought he's just ranting about his life in south africa you need to shut up because he knows a lot. It's so cool to have a teacher who grew up in south africa and grow up during the apartheid. I don't blame him for rantimg I mean life must've been harder than it is for us. All in all mr peer is the bomb.

Mr. Peer is very knowledgeable, but he doesn't cover the material that we need to know for tests during class. For example, we're supposed to be learning about Africa, but all we talk about during class is current events, so you are SUPER dependent on the your understanding of textbook readings for tests... (to be in his class, you really, really should try to learn to be interested in dull textbooks.) He also plays favorites a lot (BUT he doesn't really pick on any students.)

It seems like this is a forum for people who don't like their teachers or those who get a bad grade. Mr. Peer has had 1000's of very grateful students (like me) Sad that only the tiny minority (disgruntled) ones choose to write in.

As others have mentioned, he definitely plays favorites. He is very close minded and if you don't agree, then forget about getting a decent grade. This man is all about himself and the injustice he faced back in his home country...that's all he talks about in class. Then tests you on things not in he text or what he lectured about. One of the worst I have ever had!

In Mr. Peer's class you don't learn anything. You spend all of the time in class playing map games about different continents you don't go over as well as talk about things that have nothing to do with the subject matter. Most of the points on which your grade are based on is doing summaries of current events news stories which have nothing to do with the things you are supposed to learn. The tests are based on things that Mr. Peer thinks is common knowledge, not what you learn in class.

Mr. Peer is one of the best teachers that I've ever had. He's touched us students in many ways, and helped us understand about the world a lot better. We'll never forget his bread or the impact that he made on our lives in High School. We'll also never forget these worlds: Globalization, Skepticism, Infastructure
