Mr. Crick was my favorite high school teacher. Beyond the gradeschool crush I had, he was motivational and inspirational and 15+ years since I was graced with his class I still remember the experience with nostalgic fondness. Push yourself and take his class, you won't regret what's best you.
I axed lots of questions and Mr. Crick ignored most of them. me and other students found him a bite aloof.
Mr. Crick is an incredible teacher. His teaching style is terrifying, but meaningfully so. He taught me not only how to write well, but how to form my thoughts clearly and speak them eloquently. He's definitely intimidating and pushes you, quite often, beyond what you think you are capable of. Nevertheless, he fully believes in all of his students, and if you are willing to ask him questions and get to know him you will appreciate his method of teaching and be inspired.
He is a HORRIBLE teacher!!! I literally dreaded going to his class every single day. His quizzes were in SAT format and he purposely made other people in the class grade them right after you took it, and most people did terrible! Avoid taking this class at ANY cost!! He also makes you read an entire book aloud a lot (going around the class reading book passages and reading some of your hw assignments aloud as well) so if you don't like public speaking, this class will be terrible!
He is a great teacher. Do your work, ask for extra help and you will receive a decent grade.
One of the best teachers at AB. Had him for cp English junior year. Hardest teacher I've ever had but he is the best teacher I have ever had if you pay attention in class and do the work you will do well. Don't fret crick is the man.
Get out of his class. Yeah he knows what he's talking about and definitely prepares you for college, but is it really worth it if you can only manage a C in the class? As a student who has always gotten A's in English this was ridiculous. Not to mention it looks bad when you're a senior applying to college and first semester grades are extremely important. I guess it depends whether you value taking something away from the class, or your grade. You've been warned.
Have a hate-love relationship with him. He is a hard grader but you learn a lot when it comes to writing essays. His life story is phenomenal. You have to hear it before you leave AB. Other than that, he is passionate in english. Even though he is strict and sometimes unapproachable, just participate and you will succeed.
Mr. Crick is awesome. He has really helped me become a better writer. The class can be hard but, you learn so much from it.
Despite what everyone is saying about Mr. Crick he is a great teacher. He does not hold your hand and do your work for you. It is true that it's a hard class but with effort you can pull out a good grade. People say he is a hard grader but that's not true. He grades us on what he expects us to do, which is specified in the beginning of the course. He is also willing to write a great college recommendation for all his students. He wont write you a recommendation if you don't do work in his class.
Only interested in reinforcing what he already believes about a subject. Doesn't actually encourage thinking, just ability to write about what he says in class.
Great teacher. Requires 100% effort. Let concept to be clear and is funny in a way. Hard, really hard english class. Teaches you how to write a paper like no one else would. Hard greater though. and surprisingly pretty flexib
Best English teacher at AB though he's a tough guy and has very high standards. Very frank.
He went to HAHVAHD. Is a fantastic teacher, though workload is a bit much sometimes, you'll get used to it and become a fantastic writer. Hard to find for extra help but if you show you're interested in English, he's nice.
I had Mr. Crick seven years ago and still remember his class quite clearly. Though a bit difficult, he was an effective teacher as long as you paid due attention...which I unfortunately did not. Even so, excellent teacher.
Arrogant without much reason to be so. He can be reasonable at times but generally just tends to act pettily. Doesn't teach much and just tends to peg students' grades from day 1 so come prepared.
I had him way back in 97. He was tough but he actually taught me a lot about essay writing.
he's not approachable and doesn't respect anyone. He is smart, but I haven't learned anything useful. He flaunts his knowledge instead of using it to help his students.
not learnin anything in his class, boring and we do the same thing everyday
I had him when he first came to Acton. I thought he was hard but very good. Probably one of the best teachers I've had.
he grades way to hard and takes off Billions of points for stupid things. He's a nice guy but needs to lighten up. Not everyone is a genius like him..
Best high school teacher ever! Feel extremely prepared for college. He is very intelligent and has the strangest, yet funniest stories. Strict, but it's worth it because you learn more. He is awesome!!!
Mr. Crick is full of himself in a respectable way, he is incredibly smart. He is a great teacher, he can be a little bit mean but come on guys have a sense of humor! When he is in a good mood his class is very fun.
Doesn't have any compassion when it comes to hard working students. He is smart, but he likes to broadcast that he went to Harvard far too much. He doesn't really teach...
His class is tough, no doubt. But you learn so much! I learned more from his class than any other English class in HS (although Mr. Young was great too). REALLY helped in colleg
quite pompous. but he went to harvard, probably to be expected. watch out, he loves literature almost as much as he loves himself.
he's pretentious - he's not that smart (he went to UVA and umass), and he takes advantage of his position as a junior year AP teacher to make students play to his ego
he's like a walking sparknotes, but he takes off ridiculous amounts of points for small grammar errors. his jokes arent funny, but ap students get them (or theyre just sucking up)
he is insensitive to how students feel. Grades too hard.
Very intelligent, but needs to rub it in to students. Ridiculous way of taking off massive points for small syntaxal errors. Expects his word is law in discussions. Favortism too.
mr. crick is really smart, but he lets it get to his head sometimes. you'll learn a lot but the classes can be boring. he grades hard, but he tells you exactly what he expects
hands down the smartest teacher in the school. Consider yourself lucky if you have him because you'll learn more from him than any other teacher. He makes the work interesting
i love mr crick! people say he needs to lighten up, but he really did last year, he even had a party for his senior classes at his house! he's a great teacher.
He is pompous but he demands a lot and most of us rise to the challenge.
he needs to let his inner goofball come through a bit more during the eternally tedious class discussions
Great English teacher.. Easiest class ive had soo far. He really knows his stuff and explains his reasoning and is really good at that so i give him 2 thumbs up
he is way to stressful...and no t.v!! whats up wit that?
He's pompous, but he's a very good teacher. He treats his students like scholors & it's motivating
i didn't have this teacher, but i heard he needs to lighten up. A lot of my friends were constantly stressed out because of him
He's smart. Unfortunately, he knows it and attempts to prove it to his students.
He needs to lighten up - don't take yourself so serious.
Crick doesn't think students can learn unless they are in constant fear of him and the grade that he gives. He is uncreative (green book erg) and stressful.
He's the best English teacher ever. He taught me how to write.
Absolute Genious, too tough for high School, should teach at Harvard. needs a TV
