Some of these reviews are ridiculous. Mr. Willats is one of the most knowledgable and enthusiastic teachers at PHS. He really cares about the subject matter and about his his students. APES was one of the best classes I took at PHS, and I passed the AP test after studying for it.
this guy is by far the worse teacher I have ever had. He is extremely lazy, and is super forgetful. He has lost so many papers and scantrons belonging to not only me, but numerous other students. He is always late and angry. Never hire! Fire!
basically i asked him to write my recommendation, sent him the link through common app at the beginning of the school year, and he hasn't submitted. my app was due on the 1st. it is the 3rd. he starte
Doesn't update grades...I'm not even sure he even grades everthing. He is a cool enough guy and he knows his stuff, but isn't grading part of the teaching "gig"?
Does not explain certain things in class because he "gets confused when talking about them" (e.g. the coriolis effect). Did not prepare us for the AP test, spotty coverage or material at best.
Quite a knowledgable teacher with a clear and fair way of teaching. His tests are difficult and homework assignments are very time consuming but the way he teaches really makes you learn a lot.
It's a lot of work, and we take lots of notes, but he makes really funny jokes, and is an extremely wise, knowledgeable and helpful person who really cares about teaching. Study a lot for the tests!
For apes: The class is pretty chill, not usually much homework but it's long when it's assigned. Also, community service requirement is a hassle. Tests are ridiculously hard even with studying.
tests are pretty hard but everything else about APES is super chill and laid back.. il just have to wait and see how i do on the ap test...
I liked APES but didn't learn that much. Turns out I wasn't well prepared for the AP exam.
inocsistant -- you don't kow your grade until they're mailed
Willats is cool, but after the first couple weeks APES got so boring, I can barely stay awake. He's a cool guy though.
Ditto on the jig. I liked Mr. Willats a lot, but he doesn't explain things very well. But the class was fun, for sure.
mr. willats is awesome! he teaches us in a very entertaining fashion. He brings in bugs all the time and often does a little jig. He's the best science teacher!
