Omg I just finished this class today and I have to be honest this has got to be my fav English class I've ever taken. When you first start this class it's rough and you think Mr. Wood is a heartless man. But second semester comes around and you end up loving his class. His lectures are amazing and the way that he analyze poetry is so insightful. The amount of writing we do in that class made us become better writers and even analyze the literature we've read even further. He's the best.
Mr. Wood is an incredible teacher. The skills I learned in Acc. English 11 have helped me tremendously in college and in several other aspects of my life. I have learned to love poetry, write clearly and consisely, and build a strong work ethic. This class is hard; stick through it. It is so worth it.
I'll be honest, during his Accelerated English 11 class, I HATED Mr. Wood. I was convinced he was the most cruel teacher I had ever come across. Now, three years later, I realize Mr. Wood taught me more about writing and poetry than any other teacher by miles. His class is challenging, especially when you're a slacker like I was. I will be honest, I got a D- in his class. It was brutal, but only due to my own laziness and refusal to take responsibility for my laziness. 10/10 TEACHER 3/10 BUDDY
Mr. Wood is hands-down the best teacher in CHS. I had him for Acc. English 11 last year. The class can be tough at times, but you learn SO much and learn to appreciate it and love it. Not only have I become a better writer, and learned to love literature and art, but I even learned history, and above all, about myself, society, and life in general. A great teacher is someone who pushes you, and makes your education and learning meaningful and relatable to you, and Mr. Wood is that teacher.
I was scared of him for a big part of the year. The first week of his class is impromtu after impromtu on the summer reading, and then he jumps right into poetry. I hated poetry. But, because of Mr. Wood, I now love it. I have never had a teacher who has taught me so much or inspired me as much as Mr. Wood. His class isn't easy and there will be many days where you will regret taking his class, but do it. You won't regret it in the end.
VMr. Wood is a ridiculouslvy smart guy. His pop quizzes are god awful and his homework assignments make me wish I was dead, but when he analyzes poetry and teaches us about literature, none of that is important. He cares deeply about his students and is willing to put in extra time to help them if needed. Additionally, his music taste is fantastic. Very smart teacher.
Had him for english 9 and also government many years ago. One of the few people who truly inspired me to become the teacher I am today. Great guy!
He'll change everything you know about writing and analyzing poetry for the better.
Fantastic teacher, so easy to get help from him!!!!!!!! Best experience with an english teacher ive ever had!
I had him for acc. 11 a few years ago. He's still one of my favorite teachers. I hated the man with the passion of a thousand fiery hearts and was terrified of his pop quizzes when I had him. But the fact is, I have never learned more from anyone else. I've also never been more desperately determined to learn so I could pass. The life lessons learned still effect me everyday. Our final had an extra credit essay comparing the class to Tennyson's "Crossing the Bar." I likened Wood to God.
Without a doubt, one of the nicest and best teachers at CHS
Class can be difficult, but he is such a great teacher that you feel compelled to do the work. Probably the best teacher I've ever had in my entire life, and taught me more about English than anyone.
His class is tough, but you actually learn, and he is without a doubt the best teacher at CHS.
Possibly best teacher I've ever had. I had him last year for Acc. English 11. Learned the most in his class, and he actually pushes you to try. Outside of class, he is the coolest guy ever! He listens to awesome music and is one of my favorite people.
There isn't a class you'll learn more in than Accelerated 11. Wood is easily one of the best teachers I've ever had.
Mr. Wood is the greatest teacher in Churchill. He mixes life lessons in with his lectures. He has an odd sense of humor but is one of the funniest guys i know. Knows exactly what he is talking about and is very helpful. But, if you have him as a teacher, be prepared to work harder than you've ever worked in a class before.
Mr. Wood is probably one of my favorite teachers. Ever. He's incredibly indie and he plays really good music before class in the morning (Sigur Ros) which is cool. And how can you not love his sarcasm?
Mr. Wood is pretty much the sweetest teacher at Churchill. He runs a tight ship, but it's not his fault his students don't do the work. GREAT TEACHER, nice guy, and he runs the all-school one-acts and Phaeton amazingly.
Mr.Wood isn't that bad. He's not an easy teacher, but he's not a BAD teacher. After you get used to his style of teaching, he's really a pretty cool guy.
I hate wood. He is way too strict and old. Get rid of the unibrow.
Mr. Wood's unibrow is his trademark long live Mr. Wood and his unibrow!!!!!!! Mr. Wood Rocks my Socks!
Such a good teacher, a little heavy on the homework but its not hard and if you do it you can't fail the class. Mr. Wood is the greatest english teacher ever!
He is a great guy with a very unique personality! Little less homework wouldn't hurt!!!
