Very knowledgable on the subject. Many people do not like Ms. Cortina because she talks a lot and gets kind of boring, but in reality, I learned so much from her and is really cool if you get to know her well. Strongly recommend
Regular biology with her my sophomore year was a walk in the park. We only did about 5 out of 20 something chapters from the book in this class. It's an easy A if you do the homework that she barely assigns and the answers for the quizzes are from the notes. We only had 2 chapter tests for all I can remember for the entire year! She even posted the final exam on the eTUSD website, and everyone printed it out and studied off of it! I didn't learn anything in that class since it was a free grade.
Most of these reviews are quite skewed because the people compelled to answer had strong emotions about her. Please don't walk into class and have a skewed perception of the person she is.
Why you should take Bio Ap
She is a kind person. Knowledgeable about biology. Yes, when you ask questions, she might say "what do you think?" But its because she wants you solve questions by yourself and not rely on others to provide the answer. easy tests as long as you have common sense. very chill.
She's a great person and a great coach, but is very unorganized and somewhat lazy. You basically have to study everything by yourself if you want to learn anything or pass the class. She rarely teaches, and when she does, no one knows what she's talking about. Do not take AP Bio unless you are very self motivated, otherwise the class is not for you.
Honestly she knows so much about biology, that when she tries to teach the class no one knows what the heck she is talking.
Loved her! Great teacher, although monotone. Very knowledgeable. I loved her binder check system, because it kept the class organized and on top of their homework and worksheets.
SHE IS AN ALRIGHT TEACHER. NICE AND ALSO STRICT AT THE SAME TIME. BUT NEVER ANY FUN
Absolutely the most difficult class I ever taken in my life. She doesn't care about the students and seems just as unhappy as the kids failing the class. Bio AP is HELLISH, DO NOT TAKE!
Reads the chapter during class in a monotone voice for one hour straight, stopping only to answer questions. When I was in there, no one listened at all, even the smart people were doing work from other classes. Was intersting to see her talk to herself all day though =D.
She knows her stuff, but she just constantly throws busy work at students. She does not prepare students well for the AP Test. Do not take her class, the other science AP teachers are much better.
To the class, she might be intimidating, but if you get a chance to talk to her one on one, she can be the coolest teacher in the world. Just talk to her. Bio AP is hard though. DONT TAKE IT!
she is nice. but she is kinda boring when giving lectures. she sounds all naisely and dry. yukk. but she is a cool teacher
Shes HAAAAARD!!!! I barely passed her class X_X. SO much homework.
Her class is difficult at times, but you do labs every week [the labs are not too hard/ kinda fun :-) ]
seriously, she puts so much work into teaching. with AP, it's just her first year teaching, so you have to cut her some slack! (and she's really nice too!)
she's ok... i guess. she's very confusing and sometimes doesn't make sense. she's nice when you talk to her one on one
UGG she gave me a C. SOOO MUCH HOMEWORK!!! Shes kinda ok but if you don't do your homework, you are doomed!!
shes okay....i mean she gave me a B when i should have gotten and A....but when u need her shes not so bad....
