Very intelligent teacher, I was told by many people that she would be a very difficult and mean teacher, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that she is very passionate about her subject an is nice, as long as you follow the rules, which is very, very, easy. It is true that her class can be very difficult, but if you actually want to learn French and not just get a language credit, her class is definitely for you.
You will get a lot out of this class if you put the work in, but it's one of those courses you just have to endure. Mme Trumbo's teaching style isn't well suited to everyone, and I admit, I've had classes where I've just had to grit my teeth and take things five minutes at a time. All the same, she definitely knows what she's doing. If you're in it to learn French, you're in good hands. If you just want the language credit, take a different class.
Madame Trumbo taught me French for 4 years and prepared me to live and work in France. She is one of those teachers that makes it seem easy to learn as long as you don't slack and do the work. I was way ahead of my university peers when I took French at UVA thanks to her and, now that I work in France, I am often called upon to correct my French colleagues' grammar, thanks to her. She Directed the French Governor's Academy for three years, which goes to show how good she is at what she does.
Here is the thing with Madam Trumbo, Her teaching style is different from the modern day hands on learning experience. instead of doing labs or exercises she expects you to learn from the text book. Some students this is perfect and this is the class for them, other students fail miserably. overall she is a good teacher if she matches your style but she does have trouble explaining things since she explains things you don't understand in French. She may be outdated but overall she may help you.
A bit particular and very outdated teaching techniques but she is a very nice person with a lot of knowledge to share. Additionally her course prepared me to take a trip to France where I felt prepared to converse.
She is a very good teacher. She is hard, you will die if you do not pay attention and do your homework, but she teaches you a lot. Her textbooks and teaching methods are extremely outdated, the only video we watched all year was made in 1980. Doesn't use a smartboard or any technology. Full immersion.
Tough class, but you learn a lot. The class is set on an rigid structure, and will be boring. It is worth it.
A very annoying somewhat cynical teacher. Intelligent, but not very good a teaching in general
She takes her job a little too seriously and when stressed about how far we are, she can go a little too fast. But she really knows the language and is a great (but difficult) teacher.
Oh goodness. Shes a very nice lady but she tends to not teach exceptionally well. Not a bad teacher though. At time she can be very confusing.
she is not the best teacher, but she tries. i dopnt think im going to actually take french again but she helped me realizes im not good at the language!
If you work in her class, you will learn French. She loves her topic. Not always easy or super nice, but that's not her job. She's changed many people's lives by opening the door to France for them.
I've had three years with her. Mme can be fun sometimes, but she's generally uptight.
she's sooo helpful. i didn't get the stuff mr.still teaches in a year, but i got it from her in a month
French 2 wasn't so great, it seemed like the class was so long, but once you get to French 3 she gets nicer just as long as you can understand what she's saying in French & the class always seems easy
She is such a bad teacher.she is unforgiving & mean.she speaks in french 24/7 & if you dont understand, you ask her she just explains it in more french you don't know.she expects you to study daily ha
I just really wish she would teach things a little differently, we do the same thing every single day and the class seems never ending.......it's awful, do not, i repeat, DO NOT, take this class.
Madame's okay, if she likes you you're okay, the bad things are: she thinks the french created the world, her husband is superman, and her class lasts a lifetime
Mme. Trumbo is a great teacher as long as you're willing to do the 15 minutes of homework she assigns every night. As long as you do some work, you'll come out speaking French.
Madame's good, especially first year, after that she gets a little strickter, but shes still a great teacher.
wants for you to learn the language and the culture. i enjoy her class. gets annoying when ever you say anything in english to hear the dreaded 'en francais!'
I love Mme Trumbo! her class is really easy and she's a great teacher, she's fun to joke with and her class is the best!
She is a hard teacher and expects a lot out of you, but you WILL learn what you need to know. i'm getting A's in college french because of her.
First year French is okay, second year is when it starts te get really hard, and she expects you to know so many things she never explains. Don't take her class
