"Math is a contact sport"
Good 1-1, but a genuinely bad teacher. Had her freshman yr, understood nothing, ended with a low B bcs I got a tutor 2nd semester. Some people below try saying that its my fault I did poorly but two year's later Im doing well in AP AB Calc and passed Pre-Calc with all As (which is where I finally understood the content she tried (poorly) to teach me as a frosh). Never answered questions and refused to acknowledge hard work and improvement. No extra credit but ec is for pissbabies anyways.
I was completely unable to learn from her and I didn't retain any information from her class. Any test was a nightmare and I always paid attention in class and did my homework. I would stay after for extra help and she would kick me out after ten minutes. Some were able to do ok in her class but as a frosh in algebra 2, I was lost. If you get her have a "fun" year.
Class is extremely easy and so are tests. For all you people who complained, you're most likely an unintelligent, and insecure person who jumps on the idea of hating her for her voice and 'difficult quizzes," and who also has no ability to take notes or absorb anything from a simple worksheet. Her knowledge and intelligence level is extremely high, and she can and should be regarded as one of the better math teachers in the school.
Bovin does get a bad rap. If you look at her impossible exams and the sound of her voice, it's easy to judge harshly. However, she is a kind person who does know how to teach, if you pay attention. Do all your homework, even though she may not check it. Make sure you do it BC when she does, it counts. Her tests and difficult but extra studying can help a lot. If you need extra help I recommend the math lab, because she's not the best at it. Don't lose your work sheets either and take all notes.
Much better teacher in a 1 on 1 or smaller group so go to extra help. Isn't best teacher and is in fact pretty difficult, but nice and has a good heart. Plus, always a good laugh when she yells, has same "squawk" as ms fowl from jimmy neutron
WORKSHEETS AFTER WORKSHEETS FOLLOWED BY A TEST. Minimum direction is given for her impossible exams. Jump on the bandwagon and get out now.
It is a hard class, but Mrs. Bovin knows what she is doing. Pay attention in class, do the homework, and put effort into your grade, you'll do fine.
Ms Bovin made it impossible for me to get an A this year. Her descriptions were confusing and her extra help made things worse. I had to get a tutor this year. She will sometimes submit grades on the campus portal and never hand back the work so i couldn't even see what I was doing wrong. Doesn't care about teaching anymore. However, she's nice to chat with and generally friendly.
Contrary to what everyone says, I learn very well from her. I had her for 2 years and did really well both years. It think she knows how what she is talking about and how to teach it, but apparently she is not good with people who need extra help. but yes, she does sound like Mrs. Fowl from Jimmy Neutron.
I had her freshman year and whilst many people hated her I thought she was a good teacher. I learned from her but that might be because I actually am good at math and can learn easily from any teacher
i was having trouble in the class and she wouldn't help me. I had to get a tutor to do well in the class. she was a bad teacher
She is a very nice person however she flew through the stuff.
Great teacher who takes the time to go through problems and help her students. Some people hate her but all in all shes fine and can be funny.
Comes off as very unapproachable and she takes off full credit for questions that only deserve partial credit to be taken off of on tests; all in all she doesn't have the fairest test grading system.
She's a really good teacher and she explains math very well. Tests are extremely easy
Very helpful and has plenty of examples so you understand.
Worst math experience ever. hard quizzes, hard tests, very unapproachable teacher. almost impossible to have as a freshman especially for geometry honors. if you have trouble with math, try to switch!
She is the worst teacher i have ever had. She has no clue how to help her students. Then when you want to switch out, she passes you to make you stay but when she is sure your staying, she fails you .
bovin caused me to fail math. she is boring and doesn't care about her students/ she will not give individual extra help and she yells and i dont like her.
worst teacher of my life. Thanks to her your year will be miserable.
I love her, she is absolutely amazing, even though math is hard and not fun. Will always try tohelp you if you need it.
She's the most boring, unentertaining teacher ever-at least 6 people switched out of the class within two months-i wish i were one of them-she squawks and never is fun with anythin the WORST teach eva
Such a boring class. Come on, math can be exciting. I doodled and chatted all through class, although I am usually a conscientious and dedicated student.
More interested in completing the course than in teaching the subject.
Always willing to help you learn math. Great teacher!
I have no problem with her, she's my teacher right now.She doesn't have any real connections with her student but she is very straight forward and easy to follow
Very unwilling to provide help. She does not seem to care much whether or not her students are truly understanding the matarial
So helpful, understanding and willing to give you the benefit of the doubt. She knows that not everyone loves math. Just let her know you're having trouble.
