Don't go into his AP class because it's an AP class (Lang), and also don't expect to get an A without really trying. His humor is a little different, and he'll joke about everything. Really just don't take anything personally, or seriously sometimes. He's very sarcastic, but also very respectful. He definitely makes the classroom feel like a safe place. His style of teaching is somewhat different, very little PowerPoints, lots of reading and discussion. Overall good teacher.

Yes, Mr. Ficke's class is challenging as a sophmore, but you'll learn so much from it. Lower the ego, stop complaining about his grades and pay attention to his advice. If you put in the work you'll do fine!

I had Mr. Ficke when I was a sophmore. His class was tough but how can you learn anything new if it is easy? He was a great teacher, he knew the material he was teaching and you got the grade you worked for.

His grading is very biased, if he dislikes you, he will grade you down. I really dislike the fact that he keeps religious quotes on his wall and whiteboard. The place for Religion is not in the classroom.

grades extremely hard and gets really particular about little things. Good in class but bad for help during or outside of class

Everyone I have ever known to have this man as an English teacher, including myself absolutely disliked him. I still run into old class mates or even people who graduated after me and went to Manhatta

He was perfectly challanging for a sophomore. The teacher I had as a Junior was terrible, and didn't teach a darn thing. F was very willing to help students. And I have yet to meet an unbias teacher.

Althought I agree that with what others said about him and his religion....I was always a student who kept that kind of stuff to myself.. I loved having him as my teacher.

Unrealistic expectations for students. You should read his beginning of the year syllabus! He won't answer questions and basically lets you know up front that he will not treat students fairly.

Ficke is a good spirited person who lets his ludicrous religious, social, and political views get far into the way of his teaching. He Is an overall ridiculous person and bad teacher.
