he's okay. honors chem is manageable but good luck with ap chem.
Despite what others may say, I like this guy. To me, his explanations make sense and I can keep up with his pace. However, he is sarcastic in a sometimes mean way and his humor is very dry. Most of the class is online because Lachman does not want to put in effort if he can help it. He seems to genuinely care for his student's careers but believes that you have to put in the work for it. Lachman teaches like a college professor, be prepared. DO YOUR MOODLE. I passed with over 100%, it's possible
Dr. Lachman isn't actually as bad of a teacher as everyone says he is. The problem is just that the class/subject in general is extremely hard to both teach and understand, and I don't think it's him that's the problem, we are just too lazy to put effort into understanding it. I thought he was a terrible teacher before but now that I actually put in effort into learning everything he's really not that bad. Don't listen to what everyone says! Put in the effort and you'll be fine.
I'm in the middle of the school year. Signing up for this class, I was extremely worried because of how much people complained about him. However, I have had no issues w/ him at all. His lectures are thorough and he puts them online in case people want to go slower. He gives work but a managble load. Also, he has us grade work every now and again but I think it actually helps the material sink in. If you enjoy science and chemistry don't let a few rumors stop you. Work hard and you'll be fine.
He is actually not as bad as people make him out to be. Just take notes in class, do your homework, and study. You have an assignment sheet so you can always get ahead. Make sure to do the chem quests and not just copy answers so that u can pass the frq's. He can go at a fast pace but it is still slower than a college class. You will actually learn in this class.
Great man and very nice guy but unclear and difficult teacher. Offers tutoring that I've gone to many times but he still has trouble clearly conveying messages and explaining the topics. Also claims that he is "cheap" and I have had to replace 5 ink cartridges this semester. Gives a lot of homework and is a strict grader. I would not recommend this course to anyone that is not highly self motivated and already knowledgeable in the area of chemistry
To be honest everyone complains about him and all, but he is not that bad. He gives powerpoints and examples to help you understand the subject better. He does funny human demonstrations to explain chemical bonding. I like him his work is just hard. People just need to actually do there work and not just copy the answers.
He's a nice guy, don't get me wrong, but his teaching is horrendous. He belongs in a college teaching Chemistry, not in a High School. Etremely difficult course, you have to learn on your own. Easy to cheat on online quizzes though.
This man has no clue what he is teaching and uses information that is extremely outdated and does not prepare you by any means for the AP test! He is by far the worst teacher i have ever had and will make your high school experience miserable!!!
Although Lachman is a nice man and his heart is in the right place, his teaching style is quite horrendous. On a regular day, about 1 hour is spent grading other students work and the other hour is a shaky lecture where he explicitly tells you to not write some things down and listen, and tells you to look up the power point online, as he speeds through and skips many slides. The workload is impossible to keep up with, even if it was your only AP class. Answers must be insanely specific.
Figure it out dweebs. This is an AP course, so it is college level. The way the class is conducted, taught, and graded is exactly what you can expect at any university or college worth attending . You have to work for your grade. If you don't get it stay after school and get tutoring.
My son always comes home crying telling me "Mom I don't know if I am gonna get and sleep tonight..." because Lachman thinks his class is the only class in the school that gives homework. On countless ocasions my son has either sacrificed multiple hours of healthy sleep, sometimes only getting 3-4 hours in order to finish all of his homework, while many times he doesn't do other classes in order to finish his chemistry. Avoid this teacher's class if possible! My son still cries sometimes at night
An arrogant man, attempts to justify his teaching style and his workload with claims that it helps for college, which is simply an unfounded blanket statement. The 10th grade paper was the highlight.
He was a good teacher, while he was here. Too arrogant and professor-like for high school though
Better than strittmater. He TEACHES the class the right stuff and his structure was absolutely perfect for an AP class. Man, I miss him. Why'd you have to leave?
Tough class and lots of work but he prepares you so much for college. HW could be overwhelming but it really did help you in the long run. Prepares you for the AP test. Definitely college level class.
I hate the way he teaches. What he's running out of time, he likes to skip through slides in his lecture, and just assumes that you'll get it somewhere else. The hardest class I ever took!
SO MUCH HOMEWORK! But his passing rate in AP is a 70%, so I'll take it. I also HATED the research reports las year, ugh.
Hes a good guy, but there is a lot of homework and its hard. Also, if you dont understand it, get help fast! because he moves VERY fast, and if you are behind then you will stay behind!
he is a good guy, but his work sucks real bad, way to much work for one night
Too many notes too little time. Im tired of doing labs, and eek research project is tough
great class, lectures a drag so are the labs but hes sucha a cool guy!
