Walking into Hecker's class is like walking into a college seminar, he is truly at that caliber. Strikes me as the type of guy to have multiple TED talks under his belt. He's so effortlessly engaging and thought provoking. One note might be that he tends to shift what a student says to match the answer he's looking for too much, regardless he's one of the best
I love Mr. Becker! He is hands down my favorite teacher ever. I'm in college now but I still wish I had him. Very helpful and really appriciates when someone works hard. He made boring things fun to talk about. And hes a great speaker.
Hecker is clearly the best english teacher humanly possible. he is laid back and gets under a persons skin. he gives us the same amount of work as others but we dont even realize it. his use of nuances in the classroom is hardly picked up by students. he makes everything fun and everything is a joke. he relates to his students on a personal and individual level. he is a very nice person and is an AWESOME teacher. he prepares us for IB and interprets and immiates books to make class worth going to!
Makes class fun with his immitations and analysis of the books. Always willing to answer questions. He won't jump down your throat to make you do things, so you have to be responsible. If you do you're work, though, you're set for IB.
I thought he was a pretty good teacher until I realized how totally unprepared I was for the IB English Exams. There is such a thing as being too laid back.
judges each student fairly ... on an individual basis. cheerful, flexible, appreciative, kind, super intelligent, values what's truly important vs. petty garbage, like precise punctuality and adherence to 'universal' principles. tests are a measure of students' ability to think originally and apply vs. memorize + repeat exactly what appears in a text/has been stated in class. cares a lot, but gives students freedom. a sincere man with an essence you can trust ... and a great sense of humor, too! :-)
I LOVE MR HECKER!!! He is a great teacher; you can tell he loves English. And he is a great person, too! I hope I have him again in 12th grade!!!
was especially funny in the beginning of the year, but still is. uses cool words like "groovy" and has a laid-back approach to teaching
heckdawg's cool. i find him rather clever in class, and he doesnt do the overly structured boring work thing.
