shes really nice, i liked her more than most teachers
Mrs. Gecan's class takes a while to get used to, and she likes to scare everyone with the looming danger of workload. But it's honestly not that bad. I wasn't a fan of the random encapsulation of Unit Tests, but I liked the **** Spots project and the map quizzes (albeit cumbersome) are really helpful for common knowledge. Some of the topics covered are a joke and dry, and don't expect a 600 on the
Although I complained about the busy work I got, she actually isn't a bad teacher. She doesn't follow the "standard" curriculum and teaches her own way, which I really enjoy. She does go on random tangents but I find them very interesting. Also she grades pretty fairly and overall she's a great teacher.
she's nice and fun. you might not get used to her class at first, but you'll get used to it no time
Very straightforward class. Teaches what she wants to teach. Learned all about maps which I dont really mind and learned more about the Greeks and Romans than I'll ever need to know. Classtime is fun, but my main problem with her is that she wastes so much of it. Other than that, very satisfied with World History II and I may take a semester course with her senior year.
Isn't preoccupied with the SOL - this is a good thing. You will learn more stuff that actually matters than every other history class you have ever taken combined. Lots of work, much of it busy work, but not really a big issue.
she doen't teach anything about history...you may fail the sol, she's really nice but gives soo much last minute work and never cares about half randomly collects the other half. Funny though
gecan's my girl! best anthro class ever. hum is a little hard cuz we do crazy stuff (maps, history highlights, hotspots...) and i didnt learn much history (studied for the SOL!) but she's so fun!
class was too hard, we learned too much useless information that we would never need to know in world history, I felt unprepared for the SOL and its the only SOL in my life that I didnt pass advanced.
no history tests the entire year. lots of work but easiest A ever. i got 98s first 3 quarters then slacked the 4th. doesnt teach at all, but history is better to not learn anything than bio or math
Her HUM 1 class defines the meaning of "busy work." However, if you turn all your assignments in ontime, you're pretty much guaranteed an A. Get on her good side early on!
not so great at actually sticking to the cirriculum, gives way too many sideprojects while assigning hw and other busywork, doesn't really teach, hotspots is a total nightmare, nice tho
Absolutely amazing Anthto teacher! No tests, but you learn a lot. Gecan is willing to discuss everything in anthro and will, no matter how sketchy, and she really loves anthro. She's totally awesome.
i actually really don't like her. i've heard shes great for anthro but shes just not the greatest for hum. tries way too hard to be funny, fails miserably, videos are supposed to teach us [which is cool i guess at times]. but we're gonna be pretty screwed on the SOL considering we havent done any history.
If she didn't have to teach world history with mrs waterfall, she'd be one of the coolest teachers in the school. so nice, understands students, all you have to do is talk to her in private. anthro is the coolest class ever, she's completely different from history.
I've had Mrs. Gecan for THREE years in a row and she's one of my favorite teachers at Jefferson. Sophomore HUM was pretty difficult but I did manage to learn a lot. Junior year WH2 was SO FUN...we ate everyday and there wasn't too much work to do. Senior year ANTHRO is the best class ever. We just went to the zoo yesterday! Basically Mrs. Gecan is incredibly intelligent, nice, and funny once you get you know her. I love Mrs. Gecan!
What a dumb class! It's just stupid current events and geography! Ms. Gecan doesn't know how to teach. She just gives work and gets on sidetracks. Great class if you like art and don't mind current events. Bad class if you liked history or if you think that she's a stupid women. One of my least favorite teachers ever. I hear she's not bad for Anthro, but she's a joke for World 2. Mrs. Waterfall makes the HUM worth it: I love her class.
of my whole education, shes the most unclear teacher i've ever had and gives too much busy work... not to mention she cant teach
Very nice, but gives out too much busy work... along with Mrs. Waterfall
Anthro was a fun, easy class. She really got into it and we got to study primates (how can you not like that).
Doesnt't teach much, makes groups teach the class. Busy work. Don't feel like we've learned anything/focused on any one topic all year long. dislikes boys.
She's a great person, a great teacher. She could easily be one of the most loved teachers in this school if she'd give fewer useless projects.
Projects are designed to be busy-work, but it takes hours. No learning involved. Easy grader. Only 1 person didn't have an A after 1st Q.
I had her for hum... you have presentations every other week about VERY uninteresting subjects. Too much busywork. Good person though, funny sometimes.
anthro=best class at tj, learn and have fun at the same time, what a revolutionary idea!
She teaches very little, and instead makes students teach the class in groups. And you never finish anythingWe had to go through 900 years in 1 week.Tests suck.
Very hard, especially when there isn't much time to work on projects, but I learned a lot from her!
Long essays. Map quizzes. Then 1 day, u realized u'd learned tons.
cool. lots of work (HUM) but i learned tons and enjoyed it!
One of the best teachers i have had...i learned so much yet i had tons of fun!
Somehow Ms. Gecan mangages to make you learn a lot in this fun and easy class.
we love you ms. g! thank you for map quizzes, you're the best!!!
definitely my hardest class ever. . .one of the best ever too
Better for anthro than hum, but lots of fun anyway. Get well soon, Ms. G!
Hard, but you learn a lot.. she is very knowledgable i hope she gets well soon
has had a very interesting life and will tell you cool stories if you ask
