Ms. Tous brings life to the classroom and is such a passionate teacher! She has helped me think deeper (take her Media Studies senior elective, you learn so much, but also be warned that you will start thinking like a conspiracy theorist after a while) and she has improved my writing. She cares about her students and what she teaches.
Ms. Tous is an amazing human being. She is one of the nicest teachers I have ever encountered. She really cares about the wellbeing of the students at Andover. She makes sure to stay up-to-date on the things happening on campus and makes every effort to make sure that you understand what she's sayin. I love her.
One of the smartest teachers I have ever met. She is very, very difficult, but worth every moment.
Awesome! Her knowledge is immense and she offers an important contextual perspective on the ways narratives of "success" and privilege operate on campus. She would probably regard ratemyteachers as problematically illustrative of such narratives!
Literally my least favorite teacher/person I've had at Andover. She has made personal attacks on me and others in my class and is extremely hypocritical and unhelpful. I dread having to talk to her. I really do. Good luck people who have her, you can make it if I did!
Very helpful in times of need and stress. Although she states her opinion a little too much, she is very enthusiastic about conversations and the material. Her book choices are eccentric but they are very interesting. She enjoys teaching and she listens to her students (something that many adults are terrible at). She taught me how to write really well. She puts the emotion into literature that every english class should have. One of the better teachers on campus in my opinion.
Ms. Tous is fabulous! A lot of people tend to either love her or hate her, but she is by far my favorite teacher at Andover. She applies everyday life at Andover to whatever topic we are discussing with eloquence and passion. She is always available to talk about absolutely anything outside of class
Tousignant was one of my favorite teachers. As a teacher she was analytic, eloquent, and erudite. Her class -- on Modernist Literature -- was a joy to take. Many of my abiding literary preferences -- Faulkner, Woolf, et al. -- have their origin in her wonderful class.
One of my favorite teachers. She is interesting and very opinionated. She really cared about my writing, and she improved it immensely. She is very supportive and always available to talk. She also knows almost everything about Andover, and I still ask her for advice. Open-minded, you will love her.
who cares if she's opinionated? she improves your writing, explains everything really well; the books you read are really interesting, essay topics never boring. always available for conference and help. EXCELLENT!
Absolutely loved her. She made my writing improve A TON, and blew my mind every single class. You cannot fall asleep in class because she is extremely knowledgeable and speaks so eloquently. One of the smartest teachers at Andover hands down (despite her opinionated-ness sometimes).
Ms. Tous teaches all the new uppers so her teaching is as demanding as her job is to prepare the new students. I struggled and struggled in her class, but wow, she really turned me into a writer.
If you stay on neutral territory, your grade depends on her blood sugar when she grades your papers. If you pander to her agenda, you'll get a 5 with ease.
absolutely love her. she's hard, but she is one of the smartest people i have ever ever ever met and every day she makes me look at things in a new and better light.
brilliant. i wish i understood(or had read) modernism better. talks a lot but its very interesting. she pushed me to write on a new level, graded fair.
Tous is an amazing coach who pushes you to your best and people complain because she challenges you!
Tous is unfortunately the teacher for all new Uppers. Her experience as a new Upper was a horrible one, and she wants to make sure that everyone else suffers
A tremendous teacher and very caring friend. Willing to help you: ASK HER!! Not frigid in the least; very demanding, but I gained such an appreciation for lit.
toous is awesome she really cares about her students...she only wants you to do well
Tous is amazing...defiitely the best English teacher at this school. She is probably the most articulate woman and writer I have met at Andover. She truly cares about the students and has improved my writing a ton (I now get 6's in my writing courses!)
I had four truly excellent English teachers, one good, and then Ms. Tousignant. She seems to have a passion for her work, at least-- maybe I just didn't take to her.
I think that Tous is simply a nasty person, I hated her class, and she has an over-inflated ego and sense of self-importance. She refuses to tolerate viewpoints other than her own, and you can kiss real discussion goodbye.
Ms. Tousignant is very challenging, but she is really bright and knows what she's talking about. Have her and your writing will improve tremendously.
I had her for my crew coach last year, and the only word i can use to describe the experience is painful. Don't let her turn you off crew, though. Life is better after G4
A lot of people hate Tous, and honestly, I did in the beginning. But now I see that she is an awesome crew coach. She can be a little scary, but coaches well. Never had her as a teacher, but I'm sure the same applies.
Tous is an awesome coach, though a bit scary at times.
i had her as a crew coach, and i am very thankful i have never had her as a teacher. she seems to think that the best way to teach something is to yell really loud. i doubt even she uses this strategy in the classroom, but i do not want to find out.
Tous is a great teacher. THe only reason kids don't like her is because she's challenging and they don't want to work. She knows what she's talking about and cares about what she's doing.
A truly great English teacher. Tousignant has a remarkable way of quickly getting to the essential heart of literature. She always asked the right questions.
