Ms. Essers is by far the best teacher I have ever had. Although I initially struggled, my writing technique was greatly enhanced as a result of her instruction. I appreciate her lucid instructions and incisive feedback. In Ms. Essers class, one learns not just to write, but to think. For students who aspire to improve their Critical Reading score on the SAT, this class increased by PSAT CR score by 110 points. This class alone.

If u put in the work and you have skill in English she can teach you a lot. I really disliked her at first when I failed an essay but her markings really helped me improved, aced the next one. However do not expect an easy class, it is very rigorous.

So basically if u have her...SWITCH OUT. No matter how hard u try u will get a borderline A at the most....she is really STRICT and won't give u a second chance. Her homeworks are formative and u will get a TON of homework....switch out to Schaffer or glass or any need but essers

I had Ms Essers last year for Honors English 10 and I do agree, she's really really strict. Sure, you have to put in a lot of work just to get a borderline A, but that's her goal, I think -- to prepare you for the high stress, low reward system of college.
Essers is really familiar with college apps, SAT, ACT stuff though. If you're willing to ask, she'll be a really helpful resource. Essers is probably the most helpful teacher I've ever met at Whitman.

Ms. Essers is a great teacher in some ways but is really REALLY REALLY hard. She's great in the case that you'll learn a lot from her, you'll become disciplined from her hard work schedule, and she's there to help you. She sucks in the case that she grades really hard and although you may learn a lot, it's annoying that even though you may have worked harder than other classes, you'll still get a B. I have an A right now but the really hard assignment I'm doing now will probably bring me down.

As long as you do your work, you'll manage a B or an A, even if you bomb an essay. There is a Ron more work than all the other 10th grade teachers, however. Work ahead as much as possible. I really do
