Incredible teacher! Extremely knowledgeable and very clear in his expectations and grading policies. His tests (all essays) are pretty difficult but if you are determined and put in effort you will adapt quickly. He has faith in the students he sees potential in, and he will push you to develop as a scholar and a writer.
Awesome awesome teacher. By far the best history teacher i've ever had. and I don't like history very much. he does tend to just lecture for the whole class, but he's entertaining so I never minded. The test format--all essays no multiple choice--can be tough, but once you get used to it you can kin
It's 5:30 in the morning, I'm tired and feeling sick and I've been studying for Gurry's IR class, as well as another, most of the evening. I do not at all regret taking the class. Gurry is fantastic: he is the man and does not mind too much when Philippe is late to class- which Philippe appreciate
Definetely a tough teacher. Definetely the man. Openly discredits George bush on Certain points lol. Mr. Gurry's classes are fun, he loves to engage the students, and loves those who genuinly work hard. Plus, he was in the movie Love Story at Harvard. 'nuff said. He is the best. dont sass him though
whoever wrote that he is not charismatic is 100% wrong. taking his IR class should be a graduation requirment
Not as "charasmatic" as some other history teachers, but very knowlegable and passionate.
He definitely knows his stuff and he's a great teachers. Unfortuantely his tests are incredibly difficult. Go to him for help as much as possible-- he wants to see his students work hard.
If you like History, Mr. Gurry is a great teacher. Talk with him after class a few times, he knows his stuff and loves to help out. He is dedicated to his students. Not too easy, but he grows on you.
I only had Mr. Gurry for a term but that was enough for me to decide that he is totally awsome! Class is as good as you make it and he's a very fair grader. Loved intern. realtions
He's funny and very helpful. He makes 8am History 300 interesting. nuff said.
Ignore what was said about his advising abilities. He meets with us only when essential (a good thing), and does come to advising if you ask him personally.
Gurry is a good guy, and a good teacher, i just hate history with a passion. SICK hockey player back in the day from what i hear.
CJ is the man - because of him, i actually enjoyed history 300...
I have Mr. Gurry for Hist 200 right now. History is my least favorite subject, but he's a great teacher and somehow makes history interesting.
Gurry is the man! By the way, if you're reading this Mr Gurry, this is Osman. Just thought I would remind you just in case you are grading my stuff now.
I had him for International Relations. We had a six hundred page text book. It was mentioned in class literally twice. It was what the final was based on. The class discussion was fantastic, and if you already know a lot about modern history, take it
Sometimes it's hard to guage what exactly he wants from you on a paper, but he's really a very cool guy, he connects with the students, and you can tell that he loves what he does. That's the most important part about being a teacher.
He is difficult, but he is the man. He could have been a pro hockey player, but chose to teach instead. He cares about his students, and gives his teaching his utmost attention.
mr gurry is a very smart man who genuinely cares about his students inside and outside of class. he has a dark yet amusing sense of humor, and when you do well in his class it means a lot because he is a super hard grader
great teacher, funny guy. Really cares about his students, and is very supportive.
He's a great teacher, very funny but sometimes his exams are very very hard
Mr. Gurry is a terrific teacher. Outside of the classroom he genuinely cares about his students and will go out of his way to support them.
