I was Ms. Marsh for AP Lang and I thought she was a great teacher. She focuses more on writing essays, literature, and AP prep, but nevertheless does a great job. She also expands into current events and politics and brings in state politicians for the class (we had Arpaio at one point). She is 2016 teacher of the year and miles more than qualified to teach. Sadly, she is moving to Cactus Shadows but is also running for the AZ Senate in 2018 to figh for our schools. Good luck Ms. Marsh!
If you want to learn to write, this is the class. Even though we wrote to prepare for the AP test in May, I feel I was prepared to write for my college classes this year.
Mrs. Marsh is the 2016 Arizona Teacher of the Year and she truly cares about teaching English and about education/educators in general. Without her class I couldn't have earned a 5 on the AP Language exam. However, she does tend to inject political bias into her students every day (especially when she brings in politicians). I sometimes felt alienated by this as a more conservative student. Also, she told me to "write a rec letter as if I was her" to give her when I asked for one. Really?
I had her for two years and loved those classes. I learned a lot about writing and life. I'm the one all my college friends ask to proofread their essays. Recommend.
She will prepare you extremely well for the AP exam. She is an incredible teacher and is able to relate well to all of her students. Don't be intimidated by her biting wit. You should just accept that she is smarter than you and knows exactly what she is doing.
I had Marsh for AP lang and I was honestly disappointed. She says she'd rather you take the AP test your senior year than when you're in the lang class and she prepares you as such. Favoritism plays a role in her classroom. She had a tendency to make students look like an fools when they make comments- rebuking them on grounds that she knows best. That'll teach you not to participate. I know she means well but she always seemed sad or distracted when she taught. I wish I hadn't taken her class.
Regardless of what anyone says she's still a great teacher. :)
Ms. Marsh cares about her students. I got into the college of my choice because of her. I also got a 4 on two AP tests because of her. She and Dicus are the best teachers I ever had.
I got a 5 on the AP test because of Marsh. Loved her class.
shes a good teacher but doesnt really care about her students too much. plays favorites like no other. if you dont have same opinions as her, she will ignore yours and continue to talk about her own.
AP English with her was a complete and utter waste of time. She teaches nothing that wasn't taught in junior English and assigns a lot of useless busywork.
Chris Marsh is the only reason I have any writing skills today. I am now working on my PhD, but the skills I learned in her class are still being put to good use.
Ms. Marsh is the best teacher I've ever had. I loved her class.
One of my favorite teachers at Chaparral. Always willing to help, very insightful, and refreshingly unconventional. Occasionally becomes defensive when her judgement is challenged
She is one of the reasons I became an English teacher. Keep on inspiring students.
This woman is an English Goddess. Such a nice person too.
