Great Teacher with lots of knowledge and passion. But freshmen be warned, he does NOT appreciate you hiding under his desk.
The most passionate teacher I know about science. He actually is a scientist and by himself goes to collect data on earth science things and goes to earth science conventions and submits the data with his scientist pals and is very admirable. Sometimes his interest in science gets into his lectures though and so for the uninterested its boring, but for the interested its interesting. The physical science class itself is easy until you reach the earth science section, then its graded hard.
Mr. Chapman is a beast. He loves what he teaches, and he talks about it a lot. You have to pay close attention to understand the material. He is the most knowledgeable man at this school, possibly on the face of the earth. I'm pretty sure he knows everything...ever. 10/10
Mr. Chapman is very smart and would be a great scientist, however he is very bad at teaching! He doesn't teach, just writes notes on the board. He gets off topic and forgets to teach sections. He never responds to emails and doesn't answer questions.
He climbed up on his desk once then bit a student. Slightly crazy but in general very good.
I really love Mr. Chapman's class he is so underrated when it comes to how good of a teacher he actually is, he's such a smart, nice guy, and the only thing making his class bad is the students that are in it
Unhappy. I hated pysical science with chapman. He made it very hard for those of us who had no clue what was going on.
Chapman is a genius. He doesn't belong teaching high school science, he could be a professor or an actual scientist. He's also a really nice guy, with all that said he is probably one of the most boring teachers I've ever had, and I like science. If you have a short attention span you'll hate his class. Give him a shot though, he's a great guy
Yeah, he's a great guy, but one of the worst teachers ever: He never taught us at all, just rambled about random crap that had nothing to do with anything, and he didn't notify us about tests until the day before. The highest grade I got on one of his tests was... maybe a B-. Whale Club is fun though, and if you get him to talk about something he really loves, you'll like him.
not good. smart but cant teach. cant keep class under controll. if u get ur hands on the textbook and study it u can pass but if u dont like the effort then switch.
Extremely intelligent. No clue why he's a high school science teacher though. He seems like he should be a college professor or a scientist.
I love Dave. He doesn't teach at all, he just rambles, and the best grade I've gotten one one of his tests is a B, but he's an awesome guy. Go to whale club, you will love it.
Personally, I enjoy Dave's class. He's a great guy an really knows what he's talking about. He is more than willing to help if things are unclear. Also, If you pay attention in class and want good grades in his class, its not that hard to get them. Give him a chance!
I think personally that mr. Chapman is one of the most knowledgeable teachers in the high school for his subject, and maybe one of the most enthusiastic about science. I think he teaches much better when he has a quit respectable class, because constant interruptions and noise plagues him constantly, because he can't do much about it.
Definetly not reccomend him. Teaches very badly.
If you like a challenge...this class is for you. Pretty hard. Studying does little to no good. There's always surprises on the tests that weren't on the review sheet. Transfer out!!!
the man is santa. only a dumpy version. his test are hard if you dont listen. he can spend hours on topics totally irrelevant to what your learning. but if you get on his good side hes a nice old man
I second "he belongs in a science lab not in a classroom." Thankfully, I had him for an independent study, which was excellent. He is a very good 1-on-1 instructor and easy going.
I'm an all A student and when I got him freshman year for Phys. Science, I tried so hard to just get a C! He doesnt give good notes and you learn absolutely nothing. He needs to go.
He is such a smart guy and really nice. Unfortunately, he belongs in a science lab not in a classroom. He knows his science but can just not connect with the students and teach them well. Transfer out
For the independent and proactice learner he's a very good teacher because there is alot of freedom in this class. I would suggest him for students who like to learn on their own a bit.
Although he is a nice man, his teaching style, or lack there of, is awful. It's basically an independent study class. This year in his class was awful. Happy the year is nearly over.
He spend his time explaining things that we either already get or that are completely irrelevant to what we will be tested on.
Adv. Earth Sci. is VERY easy. He explains all of the answers to you, stays afterschool and helps you if needed. Awesome teacher,
Loves his job, a good teacher to have. Not as good as Olstad, but knows what he is talking about.
I'm sorry but my experience with him this past year has been nothing but trouble. He seldom stays on topic, rarely ever explains things fully, takes forever to publish grades, and quite disorganized.
It's the sand man!! Great teacher, he would help IF YOU ASKED HIM AFTER NOTE TAKING. I loved him as a teacher.
he is alright he is a bad teacher in my opinion he doesnt tend to get his point across but he is a really great guy
BORING. He goes off on tangents every day. He is so dull, most of his class was asleep by the end.
his class is really fun! as a teacher he's not so good, and gives long lectures, but if you ask he is willing to help, and gives easy extra credit!
a bad teacher....can't teach well....tells stories about atoms all hour long, everybody falls asleep(never get him)
horrible teacher... so boring... talks for hours on end about things no one cares about and repeats himself over and over. he can't control his classes.
Slept thru most of the class, but when i didnt, this guy was GREAT!
he enjoys teaching and is a GOOD teacher if you pay attention. he can be boring, but if you stay awake you will learn a lot.
Chapman is passionate about science and teaching! He's able to pull together so many resources, a seismograph, aquariums, computers, telescopes. He'll support you if you care!
Mr. Chapman is quite possibly one of the best teachers I have ever had. People that complain about him take Earth science and are too stupid to understand anways. Chapman=amazing
for some reason everyone gets like d's on his tests except for the people that are already smart and know it all... i dont like him he doesnt teach us anything
i cannot stand him! he doesn't teach ANYTHING and than we all do bad on tests!
Wow, Lets you turn stuff in anytime. Really easy, extremely boring. Not to good at teaching but is smart.
Chappy dappy is one of the coolest people ever! So all you people that arent intelligent enought to comprehend what he teaches ask yerself if you shouldve taken his class.
very boring but very helpful and generous w/ extra credit.
CHAPMAN IS DA MAN WIT DA PLAN... just kidding. He is odd and bizaare which makes his class so much fun.
I LOVE CHAPMAN! He is so passionate about what he teaches that you just have to be inspired to go dig through the dirt. He rocks my socks!
Mr. Chapman is a great teacher. You can ask him questions about many science topics and he will give you great information. He Rules!
Chappie ROCKS! Sure he told random stories, and we didn't do anything, but what more could you want? He was always upbeat and excited. GET HIM...you'll love it.
Seems to adore everything everyone else finds boring.
This class wouldn't be horrible if it wasn't all rambling and book work...he knows what he's saying but he's a scatter brained professor like in "Flubber"
I love Chapman but it's sad how he can (by rambling) make even the most interesting subject, boring.
Can be dry at times, but still a great teacher with a passion for the subject.
