Mr. Bookston isn't as bad as a lot of people say. In class, he can be kind of unhelpful and a lot of the learning is from the textbook. If you come after school a lot, he can be really helpful, and he is pretty nice and forgiving if you make mistakes. Just be prepared to do a LOT of work in the textbook. His tests are pretty easy though. All in all, he isn't that bad.
I love Mr. Bookston. I'm in his Statistics class and he doesn't get the credit he deserves. Extremely friendly, down-to-earth teacher who gets kids. I thoroughly enjoy his class and his "reverse classroom" mentality. Most reviews on this site are filled with "voluntary-response" bias, which means only the bad ones show up online. If you have Mr. Bookston, you'll love him. He loves to joke around and let us learn at our own pace with music in the background, no stress to keep up with the smartest
I am a sophomore and I take honors geometry. To all parents, Mr.Bookston's thought is that he considers himself a safety net and that students should try to figure out problems on their own. To sudents, He will only explain a concept once, and then will be frustrated when the class does not understand what he is talking about. He is also a lecturer, and will constantly be behind on the work he wants to go over. You must learn to rely on the textbook to teach you all the concepts.
Absolute legend loves to get rowdy with the boys and has some unreal chirps
This teacher helped talk sense into my boy!
Mr Bookston is very helpful! He helped my son learn what is good and bad!
Very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very helpful. He is so good he is do good he is so good!
I have him this year in Sophomore Geometry. He's a good guy, though he does seem intimidating at first. If you want help from him you have to ask like a thousand times. His whole teaching method is that you do it yourself. I guess he doesn't understand that it's his job to teach us. I've been working with him alot and boosted by grade 12 percentage points yet he still is recommending me for standard class next year. I just don't get it.
I honestly have no clue what he is saying half of the time I am in class.
Gotta admit he is a nice guy
good guy he really gets to understand all of his students
He is a good person, but he has no idea how to teach a class well
Great teacher I've learned a lot from him
ok just wish he could be calmer as a teacher he has no chill
hes a great guy and everything, but i dont really lie him.
He is okay. He scares me a little bit and is bad and explaining things. He also needs to make better groups. He put me with people who go to fast for me and do not help me catch up.
Really cares about students. Does get sidetracked sometimes, but it often results in fun conversations. My only complaint is the grading. I felt like I understood and learned a lot from him, and then still got a low grade. Very nice person, though.
Way too damn hard for AB. Feel bad if you get him because from what i hear, if you get B and maybe even a C in his class, you would have gotten an A in Gould.
he is an amazing math teacher. he class is difficult but if you put in the time than you will learn a lot. he will help you before and after school you just have to put in the effort. they way he grades is confusing and he has favorites but he is an overall great teacher.
He's a sweet, sweet guy who truly cares about his students, but I don't think he's a fair teacher. He's very odd about scaling tests, and he picks favorites and then forgets about and gives up on everyone else. He's frustrating because you spend the whole year thinking that if you had a different teacher for the same subject you'd have a significantly better grade
He's the rudest teacher that I have ever had. He does not have any respect for his students, and he makes people feel stupid. He's terribly inappropriate in that he oftentimes shares the personal issu
Had him for BC Calc 5 on the exam, as a person he is more or less fine, but he gets annoying at the end of the year after the final and ap exam, don't ask him to show you programing, he is bad at it
One of the *best* teachers I've ever had-- took AP BC calc with him in '07-'08, and learned sooo much. Never makes students feel stupid, encourages questions, and is very willing to re-explain things.
I LOVE THIS GUY. His tests are hard at first but you get used to them. He makes sure that everyone understands everything because he truly wants everyone to do well.
He's not only my favorite teacher out of all my years of school but he's probably my favorite guy just in general..
I had him for precalc; it wasn't easy and you have to really work, but his teaching style was great and he tries really hard to make sure you understand the material. Made the class fun too :]
A great teacher and a really nice person, a pleasure to learn with
Had him for both AP Calculus and AP Statistics. Very particular abour homework on time and he has a brutal attitude towards some students. Got a 5 on both exams but C as grade. Frustrating experiences
very busy all of the time, all he talks about is going to college and how much you pay for education
He is a great teacher, who knows his stuff, but he does sidetrack with certain people taking away from class time. What stunk about this year is that we hada big class, so there wasn't that one-onone
i like that i can get work done in study because its silent....thats what study is for.
Really methodical... "Bookston's way" works! His class is great. Encourages you to ask questions. Doesn't get frustrated when asked to re-explain things.
Great math teacher! Really clear, explains things well and makes calc easy to understand.
A very nice guy with a good sense of humor. Sometimes gets a little preachy. Hard to find time with after school. Really cares about students though and very patient when explaining difficult concepts
Stickler for details, tough grader, but a good teacher nonetheless. Is available for extra help. Personality: idealistic, cracks nerd jokes a lot, generally a happy guy. Does somewhat play favorites
He's a great teacher and person, really cares about the students, but his AP class is SO hard.
Do not take this class if you want an easy class. Bookston is a good teacher but you have to work to do well.
He teaches well, but plays favorites really bad. It's like he enjoys teaching a certain 5 or 6 kids in the class, and the rest are just annoying extras he has to deal with. very discouraging
I think Bookston wrote some of these himself; but regardless, he is an excellent teacher and human being who knows how to teach; whether or not you like his policies and mannerisms, you will learn.
great teacher helped me out alot when I stayed after school
Mr Bookston has a unique teaching style, focused on bringing full understanding of the material to all of his students. His class is run however, on a his way or the highway basis.
Bookston fills his job beautifully, but he is naive and his idealism overruns his learning. At the same time if you go off topic for a second he will chastise.
This guy is one of the most annoying, un funny teachers, dont get what this guy is doing. No one really likes him
Bookston is is great teacher. he can be a pain but it he a good guy
Although not a fan of Bookston when I had him, I learned so much in his class not just about math but about learning. Best high school or college teacher I had
Has his good moments although he plays favorites, is demanding. He tries too hard to be your friend Abercrombie tee anyone? will give massive amts of xtra help
he is really kool. he is a little bit annyoing with the hwork a little bit, but he is a kool teacher.
Probably one of the most caring kindest ppl i've ever met. Unfortunately, he's way too rigid teaching, and you're screwed if you can't do things his way.
Is unfair at times about grading and hardness-level. You must know your stuff or else you're in trouble.
