Had her for both semesters in my freshman year. She's probably the best geometry teacher you could possibly get.
The best math teacher I've ever had! She's really strict so I didn't like her at first but once you learn her rules (NO PHONES, always be productive, do hw exactly as she says) she's amazing. She's super passionate about geometry and always eager to hear alternate solutions and suggestions about how she can improve her course. She works so hard and cares about all of her students and gives her students all the tools to excel. Has office hours and if you don't do well, it's your fault.
Mrs. Avigdor is one of the best teachers I ever had. She genuinely cares for her students and makes sure that every student understands the topic. She spreads her love of mathematics to her students and taught us how to work as a team.
She is literally the greatest teacher at Stuy. She is so enthusiastic and really cares about the success of her students. Although at times she gets mad and her tests are hard, she is truly amazing. She goes above and beyond.
I LOVE DEENA <3333333333333
Ms. Avigdor is the loml!! Like even though she can be super strict and get angry at the class, it's really clear that she cares about her students' education. She has a very specific way she wants things done, but it actually does help drill in the information that we learn in class. Her tests aren't too bad, though some of them can be a bit long. Her math puns are great, and I really wish I could have her again next year, because she made geometry much easier to understand!
She's strict but she is super dedicated to her students and spends a lot of time trying to help everyone. Her lessons are planned out really well and she always posts everything online on her website just in case. She definitely cares a lot and is a really great teacher.
She's the best teacher I've ever had in Stuy. She's strict, but that's the great part about her. She's rigorous and exacting and I needed that while in her class as motivation to study and to change how I dealt with and respected my teachers. She made me love math for the first time, and works incredibly hard. She's also always there to help (and very helpful might I add). I just cannot say enough great things about her.
She is definitely a great teacher and know what she's talking about. Could be a bit nicer though...
best geometry teacher in the school
She has very specific guidelines and you will be penalized if you do not comply with them. She is a good teacher and is also quite nice. Her tests are far from easy but they are fair. You must study a considerable amount to do well. Additionally, she is always willing to help students who ask her for it. The homework tends to be rather lengthy but it helps prepare for tests. She makes you appreciate the beauty of math more by the end of the semester.
Ms. Avigdor is probably one of the best teacher I had in freshman year. She preps you very well for the geometry regents/finals and is crystal clear. Her handouts help organize your notes but you have to study for her tests, which sometimes contain definitions and materials that should be in your notes.
Her tests are definitely manageable but YOU MUST STUDY. Otherwise they are the scourge of your high school life and prepare to destroy your average. :)
She's a great teacher. That's all there needs to be said
i loooove mrs. avigdor, she might come of as kinda scary teacher at first. but once you get to know her shes absolutely lovely. the way she explains problems r very clear and helpful. it was my favorite class even though i didnt do so well. she is really helpful with her afterschool sessions.shes willing to teach you if you are willing to learn!!
her tests are sooo easy omg, so much easier than most of the other teachers. 97 avg in class :D she teaches super well and is easy to understand, shes a gem tbh
Truly is an amazing math teacher and person. One of if not the best teachers in the math deparment. She is super organized and teaches in a easy to understand way. She does give alot of work and her test can be difficult. She takes time to stay after to school to help students that are struggling.
One of the most dedicated teachers in Stuy. Ms. Avigdor rules the classroom with an iron fist but has a golden heart. She takes time to plan her lessons out, and expects the best out of her students. She may seem hard, but just talk to her and she will definitely help you!
"Don't judge a book by its cover". At first, Ms. Avigdor might seem like a very strict teacher, but in reality she is a teacher who is passionate about teaching her students and in reality, a very nice person. She tries to make sure that we reach out full potential and reaches out to her students, often taking away time from her own day, just to help her students.
She is a very knowledgeable person, and makes mathematics a fun experience for me. She takes her own time off for office hours, just to help others. She wakes up early to answer people's email and K.I.T with everyone to make sure they understand the material. She is a very hardworking teacher, and her lessons are in depth. She makes jokes every once in a while too. Compared to other teachers, she works twice to three times as much. She deserves a raise or a certificate.
Ms. Avigdor is an amazing person and teacher. She really cares about her students and wants you to do well in her class. This does not mean her test are easy or that she gives little homework. Quite the opposite, actually. Try approaching her after school if you don't understand a topic. If you study enough and do the homework and just behave properly, you'll have a good time, she'll like you, and you should do well enough.
She's more than amazing. She seems harsh, but she's actually helpful. She doesn't give tedious work like other teachers. She's amazing!!!! Her tests, I admit, are a little hard compared to the time constraints, however that hasn't stopped me from getting good grades. She constantly compliments her kids but doesn't forget to give them reality checks keeping us modest yet confident. She makes me happy to go to stuy. I come from a home where insults are key, but she's filled me with hope!! <3 <3 <3
Mrs. Avigdor is by far the best teacher I have ever had. Math is not really my thing and I have no idea how I ended up in her class because she taught the honors math course for my year, so her class was pretty difficult for me. However, I can honestly say that I learned a lot from her class. Also, even though she may seem a little bit uptight at times, she's understanding of high school teenage lives. If you ever need help, she will try her best after class and she allows test corrections.
she teaches like she expects us to know everything. i dont understand i single thing in her class. and extremely difficult tests.
A little hard but you learn so much. My brothers both told me that she is a great teacher, and they weren't lying.
Mrs Avigdor is an amazing teacher and the best one i've ever had. Her course is a bit fast paced, but it's extremely well thoughtout and she puts so much work into what she teaches. She's funny, But she doesnt go off topic.
Overall, Ms. Avigdor is a super great teacher. She is very organized, cares about students, and very knowledgeable. Her tests are HARD. She does curve, however, and she prepares students extremely well for finals and such.
Although her tests are super hard, she counts participation more in her grades. She marks down every time you participate. She is also concerned about her students like when my grade suddenly dropped, she called me in for a meeting and she tried to help.
However her homework format is a bit weird XD haha
One of the best math teachers. She'll teach you very well, she's smart and very helpful. If you have her, you're set!
MS. AVIGDOR IS THE BESTEST! <3 She is so helpful and funny, and doesn't spend class teaching useless crap. She makes questions herself BY HAD, remakes every single math test per year. However, this is honors Geometry, so it;s going to be harder. DO WHAT SHE SAYS AND YOU CAN'T GO WRONG! P.S: She curves P.P.S: She does great teacher reccs and does them ON TIME.
One of, if not the, best teachers I've had in my four years at Stuyvesant. She's a hard teacher and she's very strict, but she wants nothing more than for you to learn. And she does an excellent job at teaching you.
Mrs. Avigdor is hands-down the best math teacher I've ever had! She gets the work done and still jokes around with the class. I miss her so much.
Very strict, but very effective. Put effort into your homework (colors :D). She may seem mean at first, but she just really wants you to get the material down. STUDY FOR THE TESTS.
Strict with classroom and homework policies, but also very nice. Knows what she is doing and will help if you don't understand.
Yes, her class may seem hard, and writing stuff word for word pointless. But I had her last year and now realize that she helped me a lot - she really makes you memorize. Too bad she's retiring...
Best teacher. Quite easy teacher. Extremely fair and you learn a whole lot of stuff. Tests are fair; study. Knows a whole lot.
Sometimes arduous homeworks. Mostly hard tests. But you learn... A LOT! She's very organized and cares a lot about her students even if she doesn't always seem that way.
She is the best and the most organized and math teacher I ever had. Hands down. Homework format are super organized and the highlight with colored pens are SO effective! She has a good sense of humor
She is an amazing teacher, completely willing to help her students! I had her freshman year for regular geometry, and I learned so much. Mrs. Avigdor is one of the reasons I love math as much as I do.
Great for BC Calc. Super organized, picky on hw format but gives a fair amount for an AP class. Make sure you put problems on the board and raise your hand. If you pay attention and do all hw, you can
her tests are not that hard because she prepares you for them!
Knows what shes doing. Dont think you can walk into the test without studying and do good. Those tests may look short, but looks are deceiving
Extremely organized. Really nice. Annoying but useful homework formats. Handouts are REALLY useful. Tests are long but hey, shes awesome. LOVE her sarcasm :D the best math teacher i ever had.
If you take your work seriously, you will learn a lot. She's very organized.
Neat. Organized. Wonderful Teacher. Understands that stuy kids want good grades (99!). Absolutely wonderful class, comprehensive lesson. You'll be lucky to have her
I had a really nice time. Not even all that much work. Just the homework format was a little annoying.
my favorite teacher. she'll give you everything you need to do well on her tests. she's extremely fair and thorough. she is so organized and nothing can really stop you from learning!
A very god teacher, and one of the best I've had so far
Awesome teacher! She can teach, is very understandable, reasonable gives fair amount of homework. She really cares about you learning and your experience in the classroom.
Nicest most organized teacher everrrr. My favorite math teacher so far.
awesome teacher. well organized and really smart. teaches everything you need. she is nice and she can tell if you tried or not.
she's awesome and her lessons are comprehensive. notably the best math teacher i've ever had
If you think this woman is a horrible teacher, you are beyond mistaken. Her lessons are organized, and even though they might seem to be rushed, its stuy, get over it. Always there to help!
pretty cool and can teach really well but at times is too strict and condescending.
She is a sarcastic, condescending teacher who is too strict.
If you had to choose between all the freshman math teachers, Avigdor would be the one to pick.
Mrs. Avigdor is the best teacher in the world. I just love her. She teaches extremely well, is serious about math, and you'll just learn so much. I LOVE MRS. AVIGDOR she is the light of my life
She is a really good teacher! She gets straight to the point and shes really organized and she has the perfect amount of strict-ness. I'm really upset I don't have her this term, she made math fun=D
She's really a great teacher that teaches you a lot og advanced stuff. She expects you to keep up since its stuyvesant
She's an extremely organized teacher, and it is insane how exact her planning is. All her classes stop and start at the same material. Her tests are extremely fair, and overall, she is a fair teacher.
Nice teacher, but her hws has to be done in annoying format. she takes bits of points off little things from your test, so getting 100 is hard, but her tests are very fair.
i really love ms avigdor for her sense of organization. she goes pretty fast, so the info might be overwhelming. but i still love her quirky sarcasm and sense of humor
She's a great teacher and makes sure we learn the material, but why does she have to grade so low? It's probably the main reason I prefer Cocoros.
she's a fair grader but her tests are quite difficult -- with one/two tricky questions per exam
altho the hws are in weird format they help a lot in studyin & yur grades. her tests are fair. based on shes taught. but dont get on her bad side. dont b a math showoff. best if yur in her honors
Greeeeat teacher, super organized and you'll do well if you just do your homework and pay attention.
She is definitely the best teacher at stuy. great teacher. She knows her subjects very well. must be willing to work hard here, as she expects you to be intelligent as you go to stuy.
So true about the homeworks, you can tell someone has her by the format of their homework. Very good teacher, makes you memorize theorems word for word though. If you do the homework you'll do fine :)
She is one of the best teachers i ever had for math. She is super neat and seems to have control everything in control. Even tho her problems take me hours, it helps me with my problem-solving skill
Simply the best. Super organized and helpful. Beware though. If you were in honors math, her BC class won't be much of a problem. Otherwise, you might have problems with her pace and difficulty of her tests.
Excellent teacher. She can be a bit difficult, but you can do well if you pay attention in her class, do your homework, and study hard. She is very organized and willing to help you if you need help.
her tests are SO HARD!!!!!!!!!!!! shes super organized and clear though, be sure to catch up always. if you fall behind once, you're screwed forever.
one of the best teachers i've ever had. if you need extra help, she'll be glad to explain stuff to you during her frees, but if you don't take good notes don't bother to go; she'll just yell at you.
Favors some students over others. VERY obsessive over homework format even though the type of paper has no bearing on the actual assignment. Also a condescending person; she'll say some students "don't deserve to be in Stuy."
She is very fair really nice, but is a disiplinarian (that sounds contradictory, but u'll see wat i mean) She can move fast but if youpay attention you will do well. U just hated that we had to fold our HWS on computer paper
She is a great teacher and a fair grader. Sometimes she goes a bit too fast otherwise you need to pay extra attention in her class. Her tests and quizzes are very hard. Her handouts are very useful.
Her homework format is just a waste of time. Favors kids who answers questions wrong so she can explain things and seem intelligent, while those who already know the subject will be told they,"Don't deserve to go to Stuy".
OCD about the format in which her students hand in homework. Condescending.
a generally good person. very fair grader and passionate about math. DOES go a bit fast (even for bc calc) and is pretty strict, and even a bit OCD about time, but is nevertheless a good teacher.
i love her. she's the best math teaher i've ever had at stuy. she tells you exactly how to do everything, and if you still don't understand, she'll help you after school or during her frees. Only time I ever understood math.
Class is a little fast at the beginning, but after a while you get used to it- she can be a little unpredictable with her moods, but you learn a lot.
explains everything pretty good but i was lost in da beginin but now i get it and she gives personal tutoring without having to wait after school
A good teacher. You can tell she is intelligent (or at least knows how to teach and knows what she's talking about). She is very strict and sometimes goes too fast, but overall she explains things very well.
