Amazing teacher who really knows his stuff!
Everyone complains about Dubrow. I was the same way when I had him. I thought he was mean and strict. But looking back, he was an amazing teacher. He knows so much about French, he enhanced my knowledge of the language tremendously. I learned how to write, speak and comprehend readings much better. As long as you get on his good side by working hard, you won't face his wrath and it will be a good experience. He's also funny as well. If you're not a troublemaker, you'll be just fine.
He is very knowledgable, but his explanations are not helpful. If he decides that a class is unteachable he will not bother. I know at least ten people who are failing one of his classes and no one in my class has above a B. It is unfortunate that his class is so unbearable because I love french, but his temper and general confidence in us is so bad that I almost want to cry after every lesson. Suffice to say I will not be taking his class for another semester.
I had M. Dubrow for two years (French 4 and AP Language). He is extremely knowledgeable and helped me prepare well for the rigor of Ivy French classes. He helped me learn to think outside of the box. Some students might see his stories as pointless. However, his stories on diplomacy have helped me get through a lot of cocktail banter in college and make good connections. If you want a solid background in French, then take is class. If you're looking for an easy A, then this is not the teacher.
He's a great teacher and he really knows what he's doing. If you come in for help, he will give you his entire focus, and outside of class he's such a wonderful person. Get to know him before you judge.
I'm going to drop out of French next year because of him (I'll be guaranteed to have him). He's incredibly mean and discouraging. I used to love French, now I dread going to his class. He blamed all our class but one student for failing a quiz, not realizing that maybe he wasn't doing a good job of teaching. Props to you, Monsieur Dubrow, you think you're better than everyone else in the world.
Very good teacher, although he could improve his temper. He will not bother you as long as you speak a second language or try hard enough. Definitely picks favorites and can be a little cruel sometime
He is the best teacher I've ever had. He is the reason why I'm majoring in French now
If you get him for Latin, switch out. He has favorites, hard to understand doesn't explain the material well.
Honestly he is the best teacher i've ever had. He knows his subject hands down. He also got me really motivated to learn french.
One of my favorite teachers. He's hard, but is always willing to help. I don't think he picks favorites. He's really easy to talk too and tells funny stories.
He's a hard teacher, and strict, but he knows his stuff, and his approach is great. If it's hard for you, as long as u show that u tried, he will help.
One of the very best teachers I have come across in a long time. He really knows his stuff.
very unfair, but his class is easy enough (fr4)He DOES know his stuff though, he thinks that if he knows something, it makes him better...but it doesnt
i dunt know if i love him or hate him? i think its both.
picks favorites and implies his superiority in knowledge as well as his soaring ego just b/c he was a diplomat
you might hate him during class, but after you leave, you'll realize he was the best teacher. he really knows his stuff, even if it sounds like BS at first
well i think hes pretty fair and is a pretty good teacher but yells a lil too much sometimes and he is kinda hard!!!!
French 4 - Pretty fair grader. My French improved more in that year than all other years combined. AP French Lit - Interesting lectures, if you pay attention.
for ap french lang, all he did was lecture.. sooo boring.
