My son had recently been talking with former St. John's classmates. He said that they were reminiscing about some of their high points in their early education and Mrs. De Cicco's influence on them. She made them laugh and think and feel. She had that affect on many of the parents.
Members of the Class of 2004 got together and we were discussing our former teachers at St. John's Academy. We realized that Mrs. De Cicco's name kept coming up as one of our most influential teachers. The entire St. John's "family" was sad when she retired. She taught of more than music. She taught us to be confident and proud. I am becoming a music teacher because of her. If she ever reads this, thank you!
We never had a dull moment in music class! Mrs. D. opened our eyes as well as our voices to what was possible. Failure was NEVER an option.
Only teacher who excepted us as adults in 8th grade. She cursed with us, laughed with us, and helped us put on great plays. ENJOY her while you can kids.
