I took his photography class for 4 years and during those years I learned a lot. He teaches in a way that is different then any other. He taught people how to do digital and film photography and everything in between. If he didn't know how to do something he would learn with us. If a student needed help after school he would stay after. Besides school he tries to find good in people and invest time in their interest. All in all he is a great/interesting person.
Most creative courses have teachers only trying to offer a form of art, but Mr. Bertram I think was a totally dedicated artist himself who seemed to offer everything he could to try to engage the passion of students towards the love of art. Maybe rather than teaching us the formal disciplines he chose instead to teach us I think to feel the excitement of creativity and personal accomplishment. I think that will last some of us a lot longer in life. He wrote his own textbook for us.
Lacks classroom operation skills, moves from student to student without fully helping them, entering grades is sporadic and rare, doesn't actually teach his class.
Doesn't know how to run a class, grading policy makes no sense, very sporadic, unorganized. Very interesting personality, extremely creative, lacks skills to run classroom successfully.
