He's alot better than Mr. Webb, across the hall. He's pretty easy and a chill teacher. He doesnt care much about phones and bathroom policy.
He's not an easy teacher, but he puts in the time to try to explain concepts in a way students can understand. I never aced his class, but I learned a lot from him. Few teachers care as much as he does.
Most people have the wrong impression of him but I say he's taught me so much that I still remember and used in undergraduate of college.

He's probably the smartest and nicest teacher at this school and people can pass him if they get work done on time and study a lot.
His class is difficult and his tests require you to actually read the textbook and know facts. But as long as you pay attention in the class and focus, you should be able to get at least a B. You are able to come in during every lunch period if you need help with anything. He also likes to crack jokes during class.
He is a chill person to chat with but when it comes to doing his work be up to date on what's happening. Always ask questions, copy his notes and anything he says related to the day's lecture; this will help in the long run for homework and tests. Make sure to study and he'll also review what topics are covered on the tests. I highly suggest creating a small study group of friends in the class or if you're more of a 1-on-1 person try finding a resource for help. (Beacon/Shim/Tutor)
Shim is a unique teacher. He's not a great teacher, but he's a good person; if you know what I mean. He doesn't use the textbook much and teaches based on his own ideas. He uses dimensional analysis for most, if not all, of his problem sets. His problems require you to think quite hard. If you get Shim you shouldn't really be disappointed; just be prepared for a wild roller coaster.
Although he isn't as organized as you think he is, if you manage to ask for one-on-one help he'll clarify in a very explicit manner. He just dislikes students who always want an A and does not really care about the subject at all. --A student
He doesn't teach it. You have to figure it out. But if you do figure it out, you are going to get an A.
Horrible teacher, cannot teach. Swear to god highest grade you can get is a B. Test is hella hard and if you're in his class.. GET OUT OF THERE!!!!!
Awful teacher. He does not try to teach his students, he simply goofs off telling kids to "Shut the front door" and tells stories of his life before becoming a teacher. He rights things on the board like equations or charts but does not explain them well enough to fully understand. His tests are very hard, I can only name a handful of students that don't use their Iphones during a test; The only way to study is to read the book. I highly recommend transferring out as soon as you possibly can.
Horrible teacher, has given up on the fun aspect of teaching and hates his students and the school. Very stingy on the materials and sometimes yells at his students. He is sometimes humorous but it gets annoying after awhile. One time we had an assignment and only 1 person out of the entire class of 40 turned it in. It is an extremely boring class, but if you study your notes and the chapters and do the homework, you should get away with a C or a B.
DO: Read THE BOOK then listen to his lectures or you will just be confused... when confused, ASK FOR CLARIFICATION. Just do it. “Dumb” questions are nonexistent in class.
His lectures are very straight forward. His lectures are SIMPLE outlines. Details are in the BOOK. READ IT. His tests are based mostly on the details in the book and general concepts in his lectures (which are found in the book as well). Having a continual perception of class being "too difficult" = FAIL Laziness = FAIL
Just open your book and read ; take notes and pay attention in class and do well on tests to get a good grade :D
One of the worst teachers in wash. He always tell the class that the students is responsible for teaching them self. He never teaches or answer questions and all he does is make fun of student's name. He basically get paid to sit in a classroom. but he does play favor to ppl that kiss up to him which explain why he has good review here
Shim is one of the best teachers i have had in a science department. He might be a tough teacher that makes u ask him questions, but if your class likes to have fun he will take part and even laugh wi
If you're a lazy person, don't bother with his class. If you actually spend time studying then you would LOVE his class. I would recommend him if you care about learning more than your grade. Go shim!
He goes over the book chapters in class and if you bother reading the book his class is pretty easy. Shim isn't a bad teacher, don't complain if you dont bother coming in during lunch/afterschool. He'
Guys, cmon. Be reasonable. You're probably failing because you don't do anything in his class. Yeah, he may not be clear at times, but at least he helps students at lunch and after school. In my opini
His class really brings out the true student in you. Don't expect to be able to walk into a test without studying. You need to work and spend time trying to understand the material.
His classes are basically 100% tests, which is nice. It makes the student actually study and not BS through his exams. Overall, his class was pretty easy, I got straight As.
An okay teacher.Listen to his lectures, read your book,
hes only getting bad ratings cause he won't try to help students who wont put in effort themselves. you have to put in your own effort and dont expect the teacher to do it all.
come on guys, he's not that bad. i actually like his class, but i think that he's just nicer in the morning. and your grade pretty much depends on your class cause he curves the tests/ finals. :]
he tells you to read the book but then on tests he only lets you solve them his way. he said to us this year " the more you make me teach, the more work you guys will have". he doesnt answwer your q's
Depends what he thinks of you. If your a joke he'll take you as a joke. If your a serious student. He'll seriously try to help you.
Shim is a smart guy. He explains problems exactly how he solved it in his head. Its too complex and it causes alot of confusion. Just learn to do things your way and just study from your book.
Not an easy class, but this year he has really came out of his shell it seems. He is willing to teach and help, funny guy too. Not much homework, just pay attention and read the book.
Mr. Shim is a good person, but his teaching skill is debatable. His class is not too hard because there isn't too much HW, but you have to really know the material by paying attention in class.
Show him improvement. Do your best. Not everyone is an A student all the time. Math is important in the class, so know it. He gives out example problems every day. Teaches you what you need to know.
Good person, bad teacher. Doesn't care about students, if you ask him to explain something he'll say "you're supposed to know this" and will NOT go over it. Difficult to follow or learn from his ways.
He fails majority of his classes. Almost all people retaking the course at city college through College For Teens are from his class. You won't learn anything that isn't in the book from this teacher.
Good teacher, but the jokes he makes never make sense to me. But over all he is a good teacher.
he is a nice guy, you guys are haters, just because you dont listen in class
he's cleary the worst teacher there. he makes fun of students instead of helping them. he asks if there are any questions and if there is he doesnt not answer them.he tests you on stuff he didnt teach
not bad...test are kinda hard but he grades pretty well
Mr. Shim (as we call him), is a superb Chemistry teacher. Though he has his corny jokes, and is quite difficult, he makes learning fun, and will help you if you come for the help.
His test is really hard, but sometimes his jokes are funny. raely gives homework it is best if you dont talk a lot in his class. He tells you what to study for. he isnt a bad. =?
What is great about Mr.Shim is that instead of homework, you get to study on your own time. You learn the same amount, but it's a great deal less pressure. Class can be a tad boring, but completely barable. He is very bright, and will help you if you need it. Fairly strait foward subject though.
i think he is pretty easy. his jokes are a bit corny but theres little hw. hes really helpful, always asking if we have any questions. but watch out, if u talk to much he'll get super mad and assign a lot of hw. so just stay on his better side.
He is a cool, funny teacher but I warn you, if you don't pay attention in class or at least read the book, you'll have a hard time. BTW, If you have him for 6th period.. Good luck.. Had him for 6th period and he got angry at us a lot due to talking.
Look, this is an opportunity to learn something. He knows his stuff, and easy to get along with. Don't sail through this class. STUDY.
his class isnt 2 bad, just listen 2 lectures, take notes, listen, ask questions, and read book, and you should be fine
funny guy he is. very helpful and cares much. i had him for 2 years [not b/c i failed..] and he is a great teacher but be prepared to work a lot but little hw
He is extremely funny. Rarely had any homework. The thing is that he expects you to study on ur own time. We also have a lot of tests and several quizzes.
