Nobody ever said APUSH was going to be easy. But Herb knows history, he can answer your questions. The problem is nobody ever asks him. Yes there is a lot of reading for TAP but he almost never checks to see if you have notes. The only danger is the reading check quizzes which are based off the textbook. His lectures involve a lot of pictures and talking so be prepared to take notes because it will not be posted later. At some point he will roast you. Be prepared, reply and he will respect you.
Easy teacher don't have to do textbook homework class isn't that hard.
APUSH is my most stressful class this year. If you don't like history, or are just doing it because you took NSL last year, be very prepared to work hard. And I know, everyone says that. But it's so true. Some pointers to get an A in that class (personal experience): study extra hard for the 1st test. Average grade was a 70 for us. Read the chapters at least twice. Get Sonnabend. Make your DBQ at least 5 pages. Actually try to be into it. Herb was a swell guy, but his teaching was... :/
Good teacher learned a lot
He is a very funny, likeable person you just can't take his jokes personally. The amount of work is a little too much but overall I enjoy his class and his teaching techniques.
He's currently my worst teacher for APUSH. He does not teach AT ALL, and I'm 100% serious - he hands you worksheets to do in class and occasionally has something substantial to say. You will bomb his first test if you do not put in a minimum of 10 hours of studying, so be warned. I got a D on it, and I'm a straight A student. The main reason why I'm so salty is bc he just gave us our DBQ grades. They lowered every single student's grade by at least 5%. Switch to Sonnabend if you really like APUSH
He cares a lot more about his beloved girl soccer team than about his actual students. If you have him, good luck getting him to explain what a dbq is... Definitely my worst teacher so far
He is a great teacher! Although he makes us take a lot of notes, those notes will help us study for the tests.
Funny, gets distracted occasionally but a really great teacher over all, I like his personally, he also is very interested in what you eat in his class
Railroad tracks teacher. He has his method which apparently he's been using for years and if you like it you're set, if you hate it tough! Some good points and bad points (Love his calendar! Very easy to follow where the class is), but very poor response to email, no other involvement (doesn't get involved with kids) and doesn't help them clarify this or that. Very robotic, fixed teaching style but ok personality. In other words, just another teacher... meh.
Experienced teacher. He has his own method but what I love is he's SUPER clear. You have it all online, he has calendars with milestones for the class so you always know where you are. Very handy. I wish all teachers did that! He's funny and helpful too, though his response to email is slow and sometimes doesn't respond at all.
Makes a lot of snarky comments. He's full of sass. He a good teacher and i really like his class.
I like him cuz he's snarky all we do is do work in his class he's got a good personality tho lots of group work which i like
He's a cool guy but its hard to learn anything from him.
this class all depends on wheter or not he likes you. if he doesnt like you, you are screwed. end of story. plays serious favorites, but overall get on his good side and this class will get better
Mr. H is very chill and lax, but the class is boring and the projects are increasingly redundant,. he can be sort of inconsiderate and weird but the class was MY LEAST favorite :(
If you are not willing to work in APUSH, he is not the teacher for you. Funny, sarcastic and a cool guy but doesn't really focus on teaching to the test. Law was ridiculously enjoyable.
Very chill but doesnt teach SO well. But a good teacher
He's tough, but he's one of my favorites. He's a bit unclear at times though.
Not as bad as a lot of people say. His teaching style is not helpful, but it's not all that tough to get an A. I barely squeezed out an A in both quarters, getting 89.7% then 89.5% thanks to some extr
Lazy and not nice. I learned more about law by watching tv then being in his class. Heard he will teach ap us next year. and yet one more reason not to take that class.
Amazingly tough. 23757693 pages of notes and then a hard to moderate (if you're lucky) test. Only class I got something other than an A in first semester.
He is an o.k. teacher. He likes to pick a lot of favorites though. They usually consist of popular kids and athletes. He makes you take A LOT of notes, and then gives pretty hard tests and an essay. It is like the same thing every unit, just different material.
ignore the bad stuff written here. he is a nice guy and just does not take crap. I had him first semester us history and thougt he was fair.
i really love mr. herbert. he is fun and funny and laidback but at the same time he really knows his subject and he really makes you study for his tests if you want to do well which is a good thing for me cause it helped me devolope better study habits. and i suppose he does favor some atheleets BUT you do not have to be an atheleet to be a favorite! he liked me alot (had him for 3 semesters) and i don't do any sports
You really need to give us our tests and quizzes back instead of just tellin gus our scores because otherwise we wont learn from our mistakes. Studying old tests would help us out so much on the final!!!
If you are an athlete he will adore you....calls out grades in front of class, never offers extra help and can sometimes belittle and embarrass students, very unapproachable
has favorites(athletes) but still must study. the major grade is the tests so doesn't really matter if you're a favorite or not. really funny.
Never had him as a teacher, but I actually think is is a really sweet guy once you get beneath teh surface
he's pretty funny, but when it comes to testing time, he isnt so funny anymore. TOO MANY NOTES!
Class is spent copying notes and listening to bad jokes. Tests are literal, from the book. Didn't seem to know the material well.
The class is almost completely note taking and, as such, is very easy except for the tests. Still, if you study for them (which involves reading the chapters since the test is often based on them as opposed to the twelve pages of notes we took) you can do
i love this guy. absolutely cannot beat his personality - fantastic person. (he is totally NOT hard. just study and his tests are legit.)
Great guy and fun to be with. Especially when Justin is playing. Not good at Tiger Woods either. One day maybe. Super Teacher!
he was my favorite teacher of the year. i always looked forward to class!
funny yes. hard tests, absolutely. seems like herbert was the goofy kid that always brought raisins in his bag lunch to school. hes weird.
Herbie's cool except when hes in a bad mood, then class sucks for everyone. plus he takes random points off stuff. but i look forward to his class usually.
Herbert is such a cool guy and funny but when it comes to class time... WATCH OUT! He is so hard his tests are always 100 points and u get alot. so study!
Mr. Herbert is one of the best teachers i have ever had. He is hilarious! He is funny and he makes the class fun. I always hated history and social studies until I had him. If you get him you are truely lucky and in for a good semester.
mr. herbert was hard but i actually learned something and it was fun!
pretty challenging class. makes u actually have to learn. great, funny guy.
No justification 4 the grades he gives, Nice guy out of class, but has favorites
Stepped off the moon and decided to become a teacher!
mr herbert is awesome, and by awesome i mean totally sweet
great personality-tests incredibly hard-not really biased to athletes
cool, bad choice of sports teams GIANTS ALL THE WAY!
Cool teacher, and ever better choice in favorite sports teams
Unfair in grading, quizes students on un-taught subjects, biased toward athletes
cool guy, easy as hell, but i had him for world histroy, which i knew more about
